Wow, looking at that pic a second time, Ashley makes Gil look shorter at that angle...and you can see vs. the snow pic she has a skirt on under her tunic here.  Will she be convicted to wear skirts full time like Whitney if she becomes a Bates?

 @Snarkle mentioned home decor shopping at Marshall's/TJ Maxx.  All the Marshall's and TJ Maxx stores I've been in recently have a decent Home Goods section.  I was about to say that I got a great small colander and a Wolfgang Puck microplane type grater at Home Goods a week or so ago, but I got it at the home goods section of Ross.

Funny you say that, because there is a store called Home Goods which is part of the TJX family (Marshall's/TJMaxx/HomeGoods).  I had to read your post a couple of times to figure out you meant just a section of housewares, etc.    I finally got a microplaner myself lately from I believe TJMaxx - it's great!  (Or just grate?)

No kidding. I used to think TLC were bad about keeping secrets (courtships etc.), but holy hell, Up are THE WORST. How long have we known about Nathan and Ashley now? And they're still trying to tease viewers with their super special announcement. LOL

I'm guessing UP doesn't really expect many of their viewers to use the ebil social medias. If all you watch is BringingupBatesessss then it might still be a surprise.

Wouldn't that be amazing? Chicago has such awesome museums. I can picture her in the Adler Planetarium or the Science & Industry museum with her mind just....blown.

Since Alyssa has chosen to wear pants I don't think it would be as much of a sticking point.  Don't know much about Nathan but something tells me he wouldn't care. Hope she doesn't change if she feels comfortable dressing as she has.

Alyssa left the Bateseses and her headship is a Webster, and I think John's sisters might wear pants? so it was OK.  Plus she moved away so out of sight...

Whitney married a Bates, lives quite near the rest of the Bateseses, and was convicted to wear skirts.  Zach probably didn't ask her to, but she wanted to fit in and cleave to his family, so it worked for her.

As for Ashley - you're right, Nathan probably won't care, and since he'd be her headship, she will look to him.  She probably isn't as eager to fit in as Whitney was, either, so it probably wouldn't be an issue.   Time will tell.

Does Nathan have a specific job?  He was taking flying lessons, but is he still working in the tree business?  As I've said before, once he has his pilot's license (if he doesn't already), he'd do well as a flight missionary.

Probably true, though Nathan was pretty clearly enamored on at least one episode.  I doubt that the average viewer is paying as much attention as we are though.

They're definitely dragging it out, but I'm also wondering if Nathan wanted to keep it private until he felt comfortable? Or even Ashley, for that matter - I can't imagine instantly saying 'yes' to a request to court someone if it meant giving up my privacy in such a big way... And Nathan strikes me as the kind of guy who doesn't really care about the TV thing but is along for the ride, so I can see him respecting Ashley's privacy until she gave the all-clear...

I still think Zach's failed courtship has had an effect on the other Bateses, knowing that you can do all the right things but it still might not work out, and that might be made more difficult when the whole world knows about it. I admire them for holding out (if it was their decision) - shows that there's more to their relationship than just what they can pimp out for views (a la Josiah & Marjorie announcement within 10 minutes of starting their courtship).

On their blog it says that he's going to Crown but that may be an old description  Doesn't say what he;s studying but says he loves to preach.  He and Ashley probably bonded over their love of missionary work. Hope they don't become another Jill and Derick but do something useful to actually help people.

Back to the Bates.  Do you think we are going to see footage of when Whitney/Erin found out they were pregnant?  I'm thinking at least one of them was filmed or took a home iphone video of them looking at a pee stick. On the show they are in mid-fall and both should have found out they were pregnant over the Holidays.

@Snarkle, maybe it's just in M/TJM stores in the south or maybe the stores I've been in are not in major urban areas, but here there's just a Home Goods boutique in the Marshall's/TJMaxx stores.  I have seen Home Goods stores that aren't in a M/TJM though.  In Connecticut maybe or Charlotte?  Maybe Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville or Memphis?

we were very broke. My mom decided to just get rid of phone service because a) saved that amount of money each month and she got tired of being called a gossiping heifer from the pulpit because every woman with a phone is a gossiping heifer don't-ya-know. And we lived out in the country so yes, we would have been completely screwed if there was a serious accident--but not a gossiping heifer 'cause, you know, no phone. If the young Keilen's have no internet, getting accused of being a porn addict is a very low probability.

Brandon is the last person that strikes me as a porn addict.  I'm just using the example because his colleague, TFDW, was asked by his (then future) FIL about his internet use.  So I'm guessing it might have been something in ATI that happened across the board.

I've also been broke before so I know all about cutting down on bills.  THat's why it does not surprise me in the least they don't use their mobile data.  I only do if need be myself.

I've also been on the road and worked from many a McDonald's, Panera, Starbucks, etc.

I noticed that too. I've always thought that Kelly didn't mean her married children had to follow their rules when coming to the house, just any children living there, but this would make me lean more towards the way that others here took her comment.

Not having internet at home is super inconvinient. She must have internet on her phone though, right?

If they are moving to Texas, they may have opted to go without the expense and hassle of setting up internet for such a temporary time.  I know lots of people who don't have internet at home due to living in a rural area (no service) and they get along fine.  Heck, if I didn't have the Internet at home my house would be a lot cleaner and more orderly!

I somehow like the idea of Michael-girl going out to Starbucks or the library or anyother public place with wifi to get her community college classes finished. It's probably naive, but since she is now more or less on her on during the day a and left rural TN to live in the city she might be able to broaden her view of the world at least a little bit. I know she is probably the Bates daughter that drank most of the kool-aid and is married to a guy just as bad, but I still have hopes that some points of the worldy culture/society will get to her.

After living with a metric ton of other people all her life, Michael-gal might find the apartment during the day unbearably lonely. She might prefer to study in a place with other human beings around.  I also suspect that they will be announcing their move to Big Sandy any day now, so they know that their Chicago abode is temporary.

I think that Whitney found out she was pregnant right around the time of Bradley's birthday (which is very late October, something like the 29th or the 30th.) People compared the clothes they were wearing in the baby announcement pictures to the ones from his birthday and the clothes and hair were identical.
