I wonder if Zach and Whitney realize that Rent-A-Center is not a good way for people to buy furniture and appliances.  For people that actually have to pay for the stuff -I assume that Zach and Whitney's purchases were comped- you end up spending a lot more than you would even if you bought things from a furniture store on time or the never-never.

For people who see their show as a "ministry" they really are not doing a good job of encouraging people to live debt free!

Yeah, not only are Zach and Whitney advertising taking on debt and violating Gothard's teachings, they're advocating taking on REALLY BAD debt.

Rent your furniture instead of saving up and buying it, but GOD FORBID you take on some debt to get a real college education!!!!

I thought the mystery girl to be announce was the other girl and not Ashley. Who is the other girl who took the girls picture?

Thanks for the link. I have no idea why it surprises me that the Duggars lied about something else, but somehow it does. Well actually, I think what surprises me that most is that they got away with their lies for as long as they did.

Just looking at the redesigned Bates blog. The girls are really pretty. Jeb's certainly grown up a lot- he looks like Jackson in that family photo, not much like he used to/does normally, although in his individual section he looks less like Jackson. Warden's wearing a weird outfit. And Bradley is just the world's cutest kid. Guess Kaci Lynn will be the same....

And compared to Michaella's subdued beige and peach lace dresses...  It's like their personalities were perfectly captured by what their bridesmaids wore.  And Erin's bridesmaids wore light pink and light blue, sort of in between Alyssa's and Michaella's colors...  It will be interesting to see what Tori comes up with, and Carlin as well (since they're supposedly the next girls in line).

Velicorapture sorry for yoru loss as well DOn;t let anyone tell you what to think on this. I've never been pregnant which is a loss in itself to many who want/wanted a child badly. though I finally concluded I'm still a complete woman, That isnt easy for many people.. Im not one for telling anyone how to grieve or what they should grieve.

So.... The bolded made me go creeping through his old posts. I have to say - good job on that first kiss Websters!

And then I felt sad. Anna used to look so happy. :pb_sad:

And.... Damn... He really did post a lot!

And finally.... I laughed a bit too hard at this... And then felt insulted for dogs.

I somehow like the idea of Michael-girl going out to Starbucks or the library or anyother public place with wifi to get her community college classes finished.

I was wondering why we have never seen an episode or heard of these families (Bates, Duggars, etc) spending time at their local libraries. There are tons of free resources and free books to borrow at the library. Plus it would be good for their education to branch out some and have a choice of what books they read.

Maybe that's why. Their parents don't want "books of choice" from the library being an option?

A more accurate caption: #goals #relatable #same

Does that mean Josh needs to be bopped on the nose with newspaper?  Or just outright neutered to calm him down?

After scrolling back through Josh's Instagram - was that the only angle of the Websters "first" kiss? Because I really don't think that was their first. Ha.

Ha is right!  Did they ever explicitly say they were saving their first kiss?  Michaella and Brandon definitely said it, and Zach and Whitney confessed they did not...  Since they lived so far apart before marriage, were they ever alone long enough to practice?

From memory I don't think they did preach it like Erin & Chad and Michael & Brandon, so I've always figured that they did not purely based on how comfortable they always seemed with physical affection before marriage and immediately after.

Zach & Whitney only revealed they did not save their first kiss maybe a year ago, and it came as a huge shock to me because I was under the impression that they did wait. But... They've said they did not.

There was an episode of 19 Kids and Counting where Anna took her kids to the library. But it was really obvious that it was the first time she had ever gone then because she didn't know where anything was located.

I'm just imaging a whole generation of Fundie-Matildas. Some day they'll find a kind soul and be all, "adopt me Miss Honey, you can adopt me!"

The educational neglect hurts my soul.

On the abc special for her wedding they said, "the couples first kiss ever." Whether they lied or not, we ll never know.

I teach a course on personal finance and I would never tell my students to go to a rent-to-own place.  The rates are at loan shark level and they make it look so easy.  It would seem to go against the whole idea of IBLP's idea of not going into debt.  At least if they went to a regular furniture store they might be able to buy and get 0% or low interest - not the pay-by-the-month deal.  Of course they probably got their stuff for free as part of being what was essentially a commercial, but it is somewhat dangerous they would make rent-to-own look appealing to their fans.

UP is probably the one who set up the deal, but it's pretty reprehensible for both the network and the Bateses to promote one of these scam businesses. I absolutely despise these rent-to-own and payday loan places for their practices. It's possible Zach and Whitney might not be fully aware of how bad they are, but Gil and Kelly should've given pause. I hope they got the furniture for free, because otherwise it's a very bad financial move.  It all leaves a bad taste in my mouth:my_angry:

Agreed. Heck, we're not anti-debt fundies, but my mother broke ties with a former close friend just on principle when said friend went to work in a big corporate job at a national payday/predatory loan company.

I think in one of the early 19KAC episodes, when the Bateseseseses were introduced or visited for the 1st time, Kelly (or one of the older girls) said that they go to the library frequently to use the internet access there. At that time they didn't have internet in their home.

@hollyandivy,  your mom has heterochromia iridis.  She's in good company, because the actresses Jane Seymour, Allyson Hannigan and Mila Kunis have it as does Benedict Cumberbatch.  White cats are often odd-eyed as are some breeds of dogs such as Siberian Huskys and Australian Shepherds. There is also sectoral heterochromia where just a section of the eye is a different color and central heterochromia where the iris nearest the pupil is brown or golden and the outer iris is blue or green. I'd look at my dachshund's eyes to see if she has a bit of central heterochromia, but she's asleep.  I think she does though.  It's fairly common in dapple dachsies.

My husband has brown eyes while mine are blue.  We have two brown-eyed daughters, one with blue eyes and one with green eyes.  Yeah, eye color is a bit more complicated than can be expressed with a simple Punnet square.

I know I'm bringing back an old convo here, but I missed this earlier and had to throw in my 2 cents. My mom has a green eye and a blue eye. My father's side has very dominant brown eyes, which I have. My bf has blue eyes, and I am so hoping I inherited the blue from my mom because if I have kids with bright blue eyes and my dark hair, they will be so overwhelmingly adorable.

According to the bate's website, Michael's favorite restaurant is subway :(

It is my husband's favorite too. He always orders Spicy Italian. My pet name for him when we go there is Sheldon due to this rigid tendency. He claims he gets plenty of variation from small changes to which vegetables he eats and sometimes he gets chips and sometimes not and on rare occasions he might even drink a different type of soda. I also likes to remind me that he tried Italian BMT and it was just not as tasty and thus he sees no reason to try any of the other kinds.

Sounds just like my ex-boyfriend. He LOVED Subway and always had the same.
