Subway? Blehk. Firehouse Subs is where it's at. Then again, I hate hot sandwiches, only meatball subs...

I was wondering why we have never seen an episode or heard of these families (Bates, Duggars, etc) spending time at their local libraries. There are tons of free resources and free books to borrow at the library. Plus it would be good for their education to branch out some and have a choice of what books they read.

Maybe that's why. Their parents don't want "books of choice" from the library being an option?

Libraries are very subversive places. Library degree programs promote free access to information and ideas in libraries, which would be very threatening to our fundies. Librarians typically abhor censorship, and even have the audacity to celebrate Banned Books Week!:pb_eek:

UP is probably the one who set up the deal, but it's pretty reprehensible for both the network and the Bateses to promote one of these scam businesses. I absolutely despise these rent-to-own and payday loan places for their practices. It's possible Zach and Whitney might not be fully aware of how bad they are, but Gil and Kelly should've given pause. I hope they got the furniture for free, because otherwise it's a very bad financial move.  It all leaves a bad taste in my mouth:my_angry:

I dont really get why anyone would go to rent a center or any other scammy place like that.  Just about every furniture store has pretty long term zero percent interest on their stuff, even if you have crappy credit.  Why would you choose a place that has CRAZY interest on poor quality stuff?  And why would a family that touts "debt free" go and do something that implies that they are not doing that?  Oh yeah... teevee "do as I say not as I do."

Also, since when does the guy from the sales floor actually deliver a couch?

If someone were to ask me what my favorite restaurant is....fast food places wouldn't even come to mind.

In my hometown there is a really great burger joint. I love their food and would definitely say it is one of my favourite places to eat, but I don't really consider the food there fastfood. They have organic meat from local farms, hand cut fries and homemade dips&sauces, so it is really quality food.

The only time a fast food place like McDonalds comes to my mind as a favourite restaurant is when I'm shitfaced drunk and everything else is already closed or I'm badly hungover and I crave soda and salty fries.

Yeah but it's the only place a fundie can say they want a foot long. #zing

Is there even sauce on there? Just looks like noodles and cheese to me.

I don't see a Duggar male making brunch for anyone.

They make babies. That's enough.

Hopefully the babies aren't as anemic as that dish.

Well considering what their mothers eat while they are still in the womb and all the other nasty dishes the Duggars presented as favourite meals during the last years my hopes are quite low.

Mmm nothing like pasta with no sauce, some dry cheese, and raw onions!

There is sauce, look at the edges. Looks like a light alfredo.

The library is hit or miss with fundies I think. I do know a handful of people who don't take their kids/themselves to the library. Some do purposely stay away from the library to avoid having their children exposed to "inappropriate" books and some just didn't grow up going there regularly or prefer to buy their books. We absolutely LOVE the library and I consider it a huge blessing! I could never afford to buy all of the books we'd all like to read. I will admit that taking a bunch of (even well-behaved) children to the library isn't always my idea of a good time.  When I have an agenda, I like to go alone so I can go around grabbing all of the titles on my list, deciding which ones I do or don't want to get now that I'm actually looking at them.  I try to save taking everyone for either just a fun trip where they can search around while I sit and read to the littles and I'm not sidetracked with my own booklist. Or we go on weekends so my husband and I can take turns hanging with the kids while the other goes off looking for books.

The libraries by me have good programs for young kids. They have a few for older children but those are during afterschool hours. I was in my local library once when a parent asked if they had any programs for homeschool ed kids. When the woman at the desk said no I thought the parent was going to flip out.  Their aren't enough homeschool kids in my area to warrant programs just for them.

WHy would you need rent-to-own if you make $$ from a show. Surely, Zach and Whit get a contract being 18 and over. Rent to own and payday loans are high way robbery. I wouldnt end a friendship over them. We have used title loans twice and I say never again. DH was thinking about it just the other day and the place here only does car title loans now because of people not paying. We dont' have a vehicle anyway and told him you are nuts to even think about that.
Any DUggar or Bates male cooking is a joke.
ANd how can you get away with viewing porn in a library.

There was one small library in a town we lived that had a fantastic children's program. All kids were welcome and she was just so fun. The ones where we live are kinda lame. There are separate ones for babies, two's, and preschoolers, all on different days. And they are totally packed, which I find overwhelming.

title/payday loans are not legal in my state; several years ago, there was legislation pending to change that, but luckily never passed.  while that was happening, my MIL (who had a long history of not-so-good credit) had commented that title loans sound interesting.  Mr. CL and i had to give her a thorough lesson of why she needed to change her opinion about that.

I know we all already concluded that Rent-a-center sponsored this episode and likely comped the furniture, but did anyone else notice that they spent enough money to be listed in the credits?

Michael's brunch looks fantastic and I want the food to jump out of the picture!

Jessa's dinner? My cat could make better food than that and he's lazy and aloof most of the time!

I don't think being included in the credits speaks to how much money anybody spent. "Promotional consideration" is a pretty typical credit to a company that provides a freebie for product placement.
