Stop complaining for this is sin and self-pity is Satanic.

I would really enjoy reading the accompanying scripture for this assertion.

I have a hunch that it might be found in the the first book of Lori Alexander.

Yet just last week, she began a post like this:

Quote

The other day, I was complaining to Ken about the possibility of a Trump presidency.

Condemning self-pity is from her collection of classic hits:

Today's post blames pornography for sexual abuse. I agree with her that pornography creates lots of problems, but most people who view pornography do not molest children. And long before easy access to porn, children were being sexually abused.

Her last paragraph is odd.

Quote

Be as wise as serpents, women, in regards to your children's safety. You know being a keeper at home is a theme of mine but the Lord commanded I teach it to you, so I will continue to try and reason with whoever will listen. Don't allow sexual predators to steal your children's childhood from them.

Being a keeper at home has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the post, and she has a Jill-like "look at me! look at me!" tone in case people forget about her.

I can't stand Lori, but I just can't seem to quit her, either.

Lori said a few days ago that she supports Rubio because he is the only one who professes Christ, well then...

I wonder what she would have to say about the photos of him at foam parties and being gay. LOL, I truly laughed when I saw that story come out.

I find it ironic that she still managed to bring it all around to spanking:

Today is not like just ten years ago and much different than 20 years ago. When I went to elementary school, the principal had a paddle in his office and there were very few disobedient children. If there were any, they would get it from the principal.

She has mentioned the whole principal/paddle thing in several posts.  Does she honestly think it's okay for  educators to be hitting kids with boards?  Really?  I mean just what the fuck???  No matter the topic, it ALWAYS comes back to hitting for Lori.

The child sexual predator post is making me stabby.

Even if Lori and Ken scrubbed it from the blog, some of us remember that only months ago, they were busy defending Josh Duggar, and defending how the Duggars handled the molestation.  They were prepared to dismiss it as common behavior in a teen boy.  They had the bizarre view that incest was something best handled within the family.  They insisted that this was all in the past and that nobody should doubt that he had been forgiven and wiped clean of sin.

Well, Michelle Duggar was a stay-at-home mother - and 4 of her children were molested under her watch, in 3 different episodes.

There is no evidence that the rates of child sexual abuse are increasing.  This is evidence that it is being discussed more openly today than it was years ago.

So true.  I read some medical texts from the early 20th century which advocated not having your young sons and daughters sleep in the same bed as their uncles as they could catch gonorrhea from the sheets.

You can't catch gonorrhea from sheets...

Child sexual abuse happened, it just wasn't recognized.  And the vast majority of kids are abused in the home by someone they know.

Yesterday was awkward. In the (now edited) post Lori said something about her readers probably having lots of questions.  There were 5 replies.  2 from Ken, 2 from Lori, 1 from another reader.  But is was basically just Lori and Ken talking to each other.  :pb_confused:

I don't find this particularly surprising.  Even the most stubborn can eventually be trained.  If you give an person "clicks and treats" if they ask questions, they will continue to ask questions.   If, like Lori, you "leash pop" your readers virtually every time they ask something.  Pretty soon they will stop asking because they have learned it causes them nothing but pain.

PS: I split the Donald stuff off this thread because it was just too good to be hidden this deep in this thread.

Another thing that pissed me off about Lori, was that prior to the revelations about Josh Duggar, she did a couple of posts about being against sleepovers. In the posts, she stated she didn't send her kids to sleepovers because of the possibility of males (dads or brothers) in the home molesting girls and she mentioned reported incidents. There are threads here on those posts. Then when it came out that Josh molested a babysitter who had been sleeping over at the Duggar house, Lori focused on defending Joshie boy and completed ignored her anti-sleepover posts.

Canned mushrooms *gag*

I have a confession to make. I like canned mushrooms. My sister and I used to put them on homemade pizzas for our summer lunches. We loved to dip them into the sauce and eat them as we topped the pizzas.

HOWEVER, is there ever a good reason to buy canned mushrooms in California?  I mean; I grew up in a very small town in Illinous where we were lucky to get fresh lettuce, tomatoes, apples and bananas year round. Canned mushrooms are still a pantry staple for me but only for those winter shopping days when the produce section is pretty sparse.  I would think a California housewife would have tons of fresh produce options nearly year round.

What am I missing?

pizza sauce is EASY!!! I used to make fresh sauce from tomatoes (blanch, peel), italian seasoningDid  and a dash of parmesan (sp) cheese. throw it in a pot and cook down a bit. toss in food processor. I would make big batches and freeze. If you don't want raw mushrooms on pizza, take 'em, saute them with a little butter and garlic...then put on the pizza.

Yeah...this working mother used to do shit like this when she had kids still at home. One Saturday a month was "destroy the kitchen Saturday). Did I mention that I LOVE to cook? I had a big chest freezer to hold my Saturday insanity. Go shopping on Friday night and go crazy on Saturday. Once a month...all day prepping, cooking, dancing and wine. I almost miss that.

I bought myself a package of portobello mushrooms yesterday from the discount produce shelf at the local Metro. They looked lonely so I gave them some new friends (bacon and cheese) and enjoyed some very big stuffed mushrooms for dinner. So fattening, so delicious. The discount shelf is my best friend all year round and sometimes (like yesterday), they have something extra special that I can spoil myself with.

I imagine it's easier to buy fresh produce in a place that isn't covered in snow and ice. It's like the Ice Planet Hoth where I live right now and with another snowstorm on the way, I'm thinking winter will stick around for quite a while.

Yes, fresh mushrooms are in every grocery store here along with smaller markets such as Sprouts.

Homemade pizza is one of my favorite clean out the fridge meals. Mark Bittman's pizza dough takes five minutes to put together in the food processor, and then I just let it sit on the counter until dinner. It's a perfect way to use up any odds and ends of meat, veggies, cheese, herbs, leftover pasta sauce, whatever we have kicking around that needs to be used up. Last week I made one with tomato-vodka sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, garlic, basil, and some torn prosciutto. It was awesome.

Dang it! Now I am seriously craving homemade pizza. Since I had to go dairy free, however, it's not something I've made. I can't seem to find a good faux cheese.

Anyway, homemade pizza was a standard weekly meal for my husband and me once we hit the empty nest phase. I'd use whatever crust I had on hand - pita, Boboli individual crust, or even a tortilla for a low carb option.  My absolute favorite pizza to make at home: fresh portabellas (sometimes sautéed in olive oil) fresh spinach and a sharp cheese like white cheddar, feta or blue cheese.  Put all that on top of a creamy tomato sauce and....SWOON!

Then I heard the most beautiful sound; he was crying out to God begging for forgiveness for what he had done and how it has affected our family

Quote

And then I felt the need to pray loudly over us both. I repented to God for my unforgiveness, bitterness and sometimes revenge towards my husband and then praised Him for bringing my husband’s heart to Him and answering my prayer

In Lori's post today she shares the story of a woman whose husband had an affair.  The above quotes (bolding mine) confuse me as to why Lori would hold this story up as a proper way to go about the whole "forgiving an affair" thing.  Why? Because, just recently, Lori told us that there was NEVER a need to repent to God for specific sins once a person has been "saved."  In this story, both the husband and wife specifically REPENTED TO GOD and SOUGHT FORGIVENESS FROM GOD for very specific "sins."

According to Lori's recent teachings, this would be completely unnecessary, assuming they were each already "saved Christians."

I must once again scream to Ken and Lori....WHICH IS IT?!?

ETA: One of her readers is also questioning this contradiction.  Lori's answers? She's not sure the man was saved before this and she didn't write the post.  Basically..don't shoot the messenger, people!

Here in Thailand, oyster, shiitake and enoki mushrooms, which are very expensive in my native UK, are common and cheap. I occasionally treat myself to some button or field.....the cheap ones in the UK, and the expensive ones here. I still prefer them, especially in an omelette or fried with bacon for breakfast :content:

Man, how I miss tomatoes... I have an approximation I can make, and it *almost* works. (Mainly beets and carrots, a little vinegar for acidity, and herbs. *sigh*)

Have you heard of zucchini cheese? I've also seen a recipe for faux parmesan that looks and grates like the real stuff. No idea of how it tastes, haven't tried either recipe yet. But the people posting the recipes say the zucchini (or cauliflower) cheese melts like the real thing, has a kind of savory, cheesy mouth feel and taste, and works on things like pizza where you want melty cheese.

Gotta love Pinterest.
