Let's Go Down the FJ Fundie Rabbit Hole!

I was also thinking of the blogger who got pregnant from the husband with severe disabilities and I was thinking about them lately. Mostly about how we were concerned with him handling a kid with his SEVERE (sorry, couldn't resist) anger outbursts. He couldn't handle a puppy, so how was he going to manage a kid? I still can't find their site, someone said they had the last name Murphy but my search abilities are failing me.

I was also trying to remember the family that had kids stuck in some sort of shelving unit instead of beds. Was that Living in a Shoe?

That was corrected within a couple of posts. You want the Darlings - adarlingkindoflife.com. The Murphys are a different couple, although he also has a TBI. ianandlarissa.com

Is it a FJ rabbit hole or Ferret hole?

Also been on FJ since yuku times via TWOP and the infamous Arby engagement and ruler courtship. Ha!

I thought it was Katie & Ben?

TBI, anger, puppy, baby.

Does anyone else remember the dear little Godly mouse torturer? Anna, perhaps?

I was convinced that she made the story up to rile us all, but she had to have a pretty sick mind to imagine it in the first place.

I was thinking about her while reading this thread. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was thinking she was the daughter from Be A Living Sacrifice, but I'm not sure why I think that.

Thanks. I stand corrected. Again. :)

I only really follow Ian and Larissa Murphy and check in on them sporadically at that. They are the most religious, I think. Her insistence that he has the capacity to be her spiritual leader is ... interesting. I'm still amazed and pleased that he has regained so much function.

This one may predate my discovery of FJ, but does anyone remember a website that consisted of pages and pages of ranting against a Pastor by Patriarchal father in or around 2005? His daughter had escaped his clutches with the help of a mainstream pastor and his wife, was living with them, going to school and had a job.

It was massive blocks of illiterate text scattered with bold, caps, and ginormous fonts. The father was connected to Dale Sabin in some way, because Sabin was the webmaster for the site but not the writer. I can't find it these days.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Sabins yet. Lydia of Purple (RIP Colleen) made and sold frumpers. Their website features modest clothing and internet personal ads for the unmarried daughters. One of them was described as "always ready." It was the cause of much snark.

The family fell apart when poor Colleen died quite suddenly of a brain tumor. Dale got himself a new wife (we suspect she was a mail-order bride) very quickly, forsook his previous religious beliefs, and pretty much abandoned his children. Nasty.

The puppy milling activities of the Sabins, the near illiteracy of the younger children, and the conditions in which they lived were quite shocking. Last we heard, one of the younger sons was in prison. It's actually a very tragic story.

Oh wow, I remember the "always ready" daughter, Colleen dying, Dale remarrying, and the puppy mill. I must have missed Dale abandoning religion and his children, and the son in prison. So, thanks for the update, Palimpsest. Does anyone know what happened to the youngest daughter, who has Down Syndrome, iirc?

I think my feline headship would like her. He found a mouse in a box of junk my husband brought in and tortured it to death.

Didn't we find that the Farm Hijabi woman also wrote porny Transformers fan fictions on the side? Or was that someone else? I definitely remember a fundie writing a story about Optimus Prime having sex.

It's not quite right to say I miss them exactly, but Gabe Anast and his evil band of lunatics at the 7XSunday forums provided us with a lot of discussion fodder in the Yuku days. Lots of women posted stories of abusive husbands and were told to shut their mouths and submit more. And his wife, Rebecca (Michael and Debi Pearl's daughter), would frequently post her dreams, convinced that they were psychic prophecies. Spoiler alert: they were not.

When the two youngest sons visited us on yuku ("you only care about puppies not murdered unborn babiiieeeeessss !!1111!!!!!11111!!") one of them confirmed that his sister with DS was living with one of the married sisters, perhaps the oldest one - Esther? One of the other daughters married an Amish man and they had a furniture store.

Last time I looked it seemed that most of the daughters were still living by Dale's old fucked up Patriarchal religiosity even if he isn't. Oh, and Dale's new wife is called Rose. I just remembered.

Yes, 7XSunday and Gabe Anast's survivalist forum were an eye-opener for me. It wasn't just Rebecca and Gabe telling women to stay with drug addicted and abusive husbands and fix the problems with love, prayer and treating them like kings. There was a woman posting there as Denim and Lace who was just plain evil.

I'd forgotten about Denim and Lace. She had to call her husband Sir and then he left her for an Internet lady he met playing Warcraft, and then changed his mind and came back, but still kept a separate Warcraft apartment so he could play whenever he wanted without being distracted by his wife and kids, so he was probably still with the girlfriend on the side. She whipped her children with leather horse reins, if I remember right.

God, she and that other one - what was her name? LeahWife? - were pieces of work. Leah was the one whose husband would beat her in front of the kids, even once in front of random dinner guests or something when he told her to stop cooking instantly and she said no, if I stop now the recipe won't come out properly. Gabe fucking Anast told her she should've trusted her husband's leadership and stopped cooking anyway, and she deserved to be beaten and humiliated in front of their guests, it's what Christ would've wanted.

Oh, remember the time Rebecca bought their little girl a stuffed bunny at the thrift store, and Gabe became convinced it was a possessed demon bunny? He charged into the baby's room in the middle of the night, tore it from her arms, and ripped its little bunny head off. Exorcism accomplished.

There was this blogger that had a really long blog name that I can't remember(not Lydia of Purple). She was a teen and used to write long posts about how women who did anything without their father's permission were sinning. She sold tea pot cozies.

Then there was the blogger who I think was called Misunderstanding God who set about teaching Christians how to convert atheists and got a bit huffy when members from here decided to debate her on her points and show why they wouldn't work. I think she quit blogging after that.

Someone on another board I'm on mentioned Candy...so all her nuttiness started. Then her big fight with Elena the nice Catholic lady. And Brandy; The Free Hippie, The Free Spirit, Living the Now and The Unleashing. From them I found Mountain Mama, Anna Matrix, Lady Lydia and the PP. Now it's all FJ and I keep track of the plygs with Cynical Jinx. I admit to being a lurker. And I love it here!

Ha, I remember the puppies/abortion/!1!!eleventy!! post. Everything comes back to abortion with these people. I'm glad the daughter ended up with an older sister and not Dale or one of the brothers. Sad that the kids stayed in fundiedom though, especially since Dale left. Thanks again for the info, Palimpsest!

Wasn't our friend John Robert Moore at the "Bringing Home Rebecca" debacle? Care to enlighten us, JR? Was it as horribly awkward as it looks????

I remember being a bit confused. The reason retirement parties were had by so many in that particular group, was for a community of friends and supporters to come together and celebrate a person (male or female) being able to move from a soul-sucking job that they hated to working in a home-based business that would allow them to spend more time with kids. Cause realistically, homeschooling and maintaining two incomes is pretty impossible if one of the parents isn't staying at home, and staying at home while your wife worked a job would be unthinkable in most reformed/fundamentalist circles.

Unfortunately, they didn't have children, didn't have a solid home-based income to replace her job income, so they basically downsized their lifestyle. Unfortunately a lot of men in those circles were made to feel inferior if they weren't able to provide for their wives to stay at home; and this had a secondary characteristic that women who worked, even if they truly enjoyed their work, were making their husbands look weak and wimpy and sissified. A woman who insisted on working for the pleasure of her work or for advancement of her career was often shamed by those men who had retired early. That lovely woman retired early not out of loathing for her job or celebration of a new income, or for academic pursuits, but because she hoped to avoid her husband being shamed, and he wanted to prove his intentions of being a Godly husband and caring for her.

It was a bit of a mockery and yet, they were truly happy that day. So I supported them, as friends would. At the same time, it put them both under tremendous financial strain before either of them was really ready for it, and in my opinion contributed to later situations that developed. I liked both of them a lot. Truly nice people. More than anything they wanted children, but I didn't follow them very closely after the adoption. I heard varied stories of her husband's situation, and it didn't involve guns sold illegally, as I understand it was a violation of export laws on certain types of American-made knives. But I never heard the whole story, maybe I'm wrong.

I'm still confused. The Bringing Home of Rebecca seems to have been very definitely publicised as being part of the Restoring Manhood to America programme.... not an equal opps retirement gig.

Restoring Manhood to America

Recently, Sam Coleman, a business associate and friend of my Father's, was convicted to bring his wife home from work.

...

He followed through with his plans, and threw a surprise party for his wife Rebecca. It was a wonderful thing to attend. The Halterman's, Bacon's, Moore's, Cameron Heidrick (did I get that right?), and the Reins Family all attended this little git'together.Congratulations Sam; Men like you are taking Manhood back in America, and God Bless you for it.

Are you sure you aren't misremembering because you might now feel awkward and embarassed to have been part of such a misogynistic event? :P

According to their short lived Gofundme page he was shipping various firearm parts to different countries and lying about what they were and how much they were worth.

On Wednesday, I noticed one of my packages I sent to Germany was being held in Chicago. I looked over the invoice to see what was in that package, and there was an AR-15 trigger kit ordered from Brownells

And he was doing even weirder shit than that and claiming he had no clue that it was illegal. Don't believe that for a second.

My customer in Switzerland asked if I would receive packages for him throughout the week, then every Friday, package them all together, declare them as Camping Supplies/Tools, declare them always under $1,000 to save on fees, and ship them. We agreed to a 10% commission, and I started making $200-$500 every week from this shipment. These items were really camping tools, police issue gloves and bags, watches, non-automatic knives, nothing illegal to ship.

None of those items are camping supplies. :shifty-kitty: The guy accepted absolutely no blame for any of his actions and spent the whole page blaming everyone else for him lying on government forms so he could ship items illegally. He came off very, very unlikable.

We seem to be burrowing a new rabbit-hole in real time, in this very thread!

John, I see from your posting history that you came here to defend a perceived misconception about your partner, and I understand that. You seem to have undergone a LOT of changes from the way that your other identity posted. But the stuff you are saying here about the origins of Bringing Home Rebecca, and about the nature of her husband's crimes just don't sit well with reality.

I suspect that you are still right in the middle of the turmoil of what has happened, and I don't want to be hard on you for the sake of it. But you still seem to be in the thick of patriarchal thinking, even if you have changed in some other doctrinal matters.

This is the blog I was talking about. She also doesn't seem to blog much anymore. misunderstoodgod.wordpress.com/ Trying to convert atheists and prove the Bible literally happened was apparently harder than she expected.

Re: "Bringing Home Rebecca:"

I seem to recall the blog included a picture of a little girl from the church with the caption something like 'A girl who will never have to go to work!!!!111!!!'.

The exact caption was "A little princess who will never know the workplace." It is burned into my memory for all eternity, the arrogance.

[Rant begins] My father, bless him, always encouraged me to get a good education and find work I enjoyed - work that would allow me to support myself, regardless of whether or not I married. I've worked full time for 40 years, "for the pleasure of (my) work (and) for advancement of (my) career," and I guarantee my husband does not feel "weak and wimpy and sissified" as a result. Has my work had the occasional "soul-sucking" moments? Sure - every job does. They are far outweighed by my ability to support myself, to be an equal financial contributor in my marriage, and to never need worry about finding myself in the exact sort of marital and financial train wreck with which poor Rebecca is now coping.

Finally, I think it speaks volumes that the Reins sisters (who, as far as I know, are still living at home and being supported by their parents, for fuck's sake) deleted that little episode of idiocy from their blog. "Weak and wimpy," indeed. [Rant over]

HA! That contains much of Taryn at her best. She also quoted something off of the "Galations4" blog. I remember the author of that. She actually used to post here on FJ back in the Yuku days though I can't remember her name. She was, uh interesting....

Behind on this, but that post also contains Sarah from Ireland's first Zsucifer comment!
