I like the idea of variations on bridesmaids dresses. It often helps find a dress that flatters a big group of people. As long as they're all similar fabric and reasonably similar style, I like it. The colors, though. Wow.

Nah. It's not affection, even. I think Ben is actually plenty affectionate (but not the most eloquent about it).

It's the holding on for dear life thing that kills me.

I think it is really is cause they were never allowed to do it naturally. See, normally, the kind of people that just will NOT get off each other are teenagers, young high school kids, they want to hold on because it is all very new. I admit, I was too affectionate in high school towards my first boyfriend and I held hands too much too. Its kind of gross/awkward in high school, sure, but when you're a full grown adult, it looks less mature.

It's a clingy thing. I knew a couple, in college, who were on a team with me together. Our team had dinner together 3/4 times a week at one of those big long tables and we'd kind of stagger in, so the seating varied a lot. BUT this one couple, the girl just *HAD* to sit next to her boyfriend, just *HAD* to, every time and she would throw a fit if there wasn't a seat for her to do so and make people move. It made everybody uncomfortable and I think really mature couples can just kind of casually let go. Jill and Derick are holding hands for dear life even when it looks uncomfortable or awkward. It kind of reminds me of that. It's an sad consequence from the courtship model, I think.

I'm sure Ben and Jessa will have crazy hand sex too when he undoubtedly puts a ring on her finger.

Talk about putting words into other people's mouths. I don't think anyone gives a shit that they like to hold hands a lot (since they're "allowed" to now that they're engaged), it's that they're ALWAYS holding hands. There was a picture of them a few weeks ago at some BBQ thing for a fire department, Jill and Derick were at a long table, plates of food in front of them...and they were both eating with one hand because their other hands were firmly collapsed together. There are situations where letting go is the better idea and I don't think either one of them is going to run off if the other lets go for five seconds. Hold hands while sitting and watching the ceremony, great! But let go for a few seconds to stand up. Just the way your body would be positioned while standing would make it awkward to be holding on to someone's hand, I would think.

At least Jill and Derick's hand sex isn't as gross as Josh and Anna's was. But then again, we've mostly only seen it in still photos. Who knows what kind of rubbing and tugging is going on in motion :ew:

These pictures/videos are great so far, but I'm still waiting for better quality/close ups. Based on these initial photos, I'd say Alyssa had the best gown of the three Bates' weddings, but Whitney had the best bridesmaid's gowns. The colours, while not something I would choose myself, are fine for the young age of the couple (extremely young age of the bride in particular), but it is pretty loud. Though I find the shape of some of the bridesmaid's dresses far worse than the colours. There was one women in the blue who had PUFFY 1980s SLEEVES! NO! I couldn't tell who it was but I hope if Alyssa is ever a bridesmaid for her, she picks something absolutely hideous as payback :twisted:

Zach and Whitney still hold the #1 spot for Bates weddings in my opinion. Something about their wedding seemed so much more classier the weddings Erin and Alyssa had. I am really disappointed with the dress though, I knew she would be the one to have something gorgeous with lace sleeves or something fancier at least. Those colors would of been awesome for a beach wedding ... As much as I hate to say it, Josh and Anna's wedding actually turned out better when it comes to colors!! Ahhh such a hot mess. It reminds me of that scene in Sleeping Beauty where they change the dress from pink to blue so much it just messes up!!

Yeah, those neon lights are just not helping things at all. They belong in a Persian nightclub, not in a fundamentalist church wedding. And really, she had three colors: royal purple, Malibu blue, and hot pink. And am I the only one that thinks that those little boys' bowties are ENORMOUS? They look like something I'd put on a shih tzu as a Halloween costume.

Plus I just noticed they have THREE different colored suits going on in that photograph--the white, the gray, and the black. I'm not a big fan of over-matchy wedding parties (you know, down to the hairstyle and lipstick color of the bridesmaids) but come on, show a little continuity here, my eyes are old...

This may be the old church lady in me talking, but I used to clean up after weddings with tonnes and tonnes of flower petals like this. I can honestly tell you that those things are a royal pain in the ass to clean up--and you can't just vacuum them up because then they clog the brush and catch on fire...God bless the person who has to clean that mess up.
