Littlest Pecan Thief: Priscilla & David Waller's Baby

Cute little guy! I feel bad for him though being raised by these two. And wtf is with David smothering Prissy in the photos. Why does he have to be so clingy? FFS she just had a baby get the hell off of her!

Eta: I abhor how he described the labor as something "we" went through. While I won't deny the stress it puts the father through, give me a friggin break David!! It's not all about you?

That is something to consider. Priscilla does move her mouth oddly. I'll have to look in Alison Hazelbaker's book on tongue-tie to see if I can find more clues. Alison was herself tongue-tied and only had the tie released at the age of 42. Unreleased tongue-tie can cause speech issues and dental problems, and in infants, feeding problems. I hope for her baby's sake that they recognize if she is tongue-tied as it can run in families and frankly, if she tongue-tied, she ought to have it taken care of. It's not too late.

It's like her slowness is due to the time she takes to (try to) get her tongue into the proper position. If she didn't take that time, she'd be slurring her words even more. If you watch her, at some points, she gets very excited, her eyes light up and her eyebrows go up. Then, the words follow much slower. If you turned off the sound and didn't watch her mouth when she talks (when it's obvious her mouth moves slower than most), her initial reactions are as quick as any other person's.

a catholic saint? not in this life time!

I know it's a shame he'll never get to enjoy the fun of St. Paddy's day, or a green beer :(

Yep -- I agree. It wasn't HIS labor and as much as he was a spectator and he might love her as much as he say he does, the credit for enduring labor and childbirth should go all to the birthing woman. It's amazingly pig-headed that he can't give her the full credit she deserves. What a jerk.

I assumed that when he said it took longer than they expected that he was talking about the pregnancy (a week overdue). But his blog post seems to mean the actual labor.

Here's my hope: that these two look over the Ezzo or Pearl parenting stuff, pray over it or whatever, and decide that it's just not going to work for them. Priscilla seems very gentle, and David does not have the demeanor of a Doug Phillips, for example; he doesn't seem to have the need to prove how manly he is by swinging from a rope or swinging a plumbing line on a child. I am hoping that these two decide that they feel much more comfortable parenting with love rather than violence.

Nooooooooooooooo! What an awful book/method/person that Ezzo is!

I received Ezzo books at my baby shower and knew enough even as a first time mom that they were garbage! Hopefully David and Pris have enough sense to go with their instincts and what feels natural in caring for their baby.

Also, Anyone else notice while watching the video that David will occasionally mouth the words along with Pris as she speaks? I noticed it especially when she was telling us the baby's weight and length.

My sister probably looked the most beautiful she's ever looked 15 minutes after she gave birth. Hormones are crazy things.

Thank you for your thoughts. We enjoy reading many different books. I kinda think reading can be like eating a fish. You enjoy the meat and spit out the bones. There is no perfect remedy and as has been pointed out, it is important to follow the leading the Holy Spirit as well as the way God made our bodies.

For all Davilla's faults I really don't see them as being Ezzo or Pearl following parents. Not saying the would, but right now I don't get that vibe from them.

I hope that's really true and I'm glad he's listening to people. And honestly, it doesn't matter what HE thinks about when to feed the baby, it matters what Prissy feels is right because it's her body that does the nursing and her body responds to her baby's cries. They need to feed that baby when he's hungry. The idea of scheduling is crazy and selfish.

I just watched the video again. What does he mean by Prissy faithfully delivering the baby? As if she has the choice to stop after her body goes into labor? Weirdo. These people are try so hard to always sound godly that they aren't even concerned with making sense.

Baby Paul crying out at the end of the video. Guess he realized he is going to be a pecan thief like his daddy, or his mommy is stunted, or both.

She totally had a choice. If she was a godless feminazi lesbian commie Muslim Democrat, she could have driven down the block to one of those oh-so-common Planned Parenthoods that does 41 week abortions and ended it right there.

I know the Pearl's are all for infant potty training. How about the Ezzo's? I don't recall them as being for the infant potty training. Could it be that little Pecan won't be wearing disposables?

LOL!!! Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me! I figured that if she has no right to use her brain to think, then she has no rights over her uterus to abort. Therefore, I didn't think the content of his blathering was about abortion. Yet, maybe it was a subtle dig. I'm not so sure though. What does David know about subtlety? I still hold that he is speaking Christianese to sound godly. Because it's all about godly appearances. They aren't that deep. Poor baby pecan.

What's wrong with infant potty training? My friend used the Elimination Communication (EC) method and both of her kids were potty trained before two-years old. It doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. The less little people sitting around in their own feces and urine the better.

This video makes me dislike him even more. "My darling little wife'? Could he be more condescending? :x Vomit.

I still have to give the home birth the side eye. It is my personal opinion that a planned home birth in an industrial nation, even one attended by a midwife or doula is ridiculously irresponsible. I myself had a textbook healthy pregnancy, then out of blue at 37 weeks exhibited preeclamptic symptoms. No prior symptoms, no family history. Were it not for the c-section 4 hours later, its is quite realistic that I and/or my son may not be alive. You can have a med free, peaceful, calm and spiritual birth at a hospital or medically equipped birthing center.

They don't even know how lucky they are that she and the baby are healthy. Who am I kidding? They believe God has 'blessed" them for being extra faithful. Sanctimonious bullshit.

I hope she's drugged or on a baby high, because she looks even more vapid than usual.

OUCH! That's a big baby. I guess u all have figured out how squeamish I am about LARGE births. Many hugs to Priss! Hope they give her plenty of soft places to sit for the next couple of weeks. Oh & she might need a good laxative. Sorry I'm having flash backs! Very cute baby. Glad they are ok!

The anti-midwife led delivery obsession is very much United States of American (I remember seeing some atrocious American anti-midwives propaganda material from 50-60 years ago). Most babies in Europe are born without a doctor. Midwives are highly trained medical specialists and you will be referred to them automatically if you live over here. The doctor intervention is only necessary if there is a complication or doubt. Otherwise, the midwife is the best choice you can have. The literal French translation means "wise women" and that's what they are: four year of studies and training to help mothers deliver their babies in as safe a manner as possible. Midwives assist you all the way through, they monitor mother and baby, they bond with the parents-to-be and stay by your side. If there's any problem, they act quick and know what to do. They will call a doctor and set up whatever emergency procedure if needed. Otherwise, they'll do whatever they can to help a baby being born in the least traumatic way. Everybody I know has had a baby with the help of a midwife, with the sole exception of a friend who needed a C-section. She got a midwife, three nurses and a doctor.

Homebirths are safe IF:

1. you have no complications. At all.

2. you have a trained midwife monitoring you and your baby.

3. you have a car with fuel (a friend's wife delivered her baby at home and her midwife asked for them to have a back-up car ready, so there were 2 vehicles on hand just in case) and live close to a hospital. You need to be able to move quickly to a hospital if there's a problem. Midwives who help with homebirths do not take any risks: as soon as that heart rate dips with every contraction, they will get you to the hospital. (same goes with birthing centers, usually)

Now, it's up to every woman to go wherever she wants. I literally live in the same street as one of the better maternity clinics of the city. By car, it's 2 minutes away. If I were to have a baby, I'd seriously consider having it at home simply because home is familiar. And being in a familiar environment does help to keep fear and stress away, which in itself helps with not panicking and getting through labour.

I am not saying homebirths pwn hospital births. But giving birth at home with a properly trained midwife when you have the possibility to jump in a car to get to a hospital should there be a complication is not a problem at all.

Are bigger babies usually overdue?

No, not always. My daughter was 10lbs 6oz and 21.25in long at birth and she arrived two days before her due date. The pregnancy was dated correctly and I did not have gestational diabetes. She was just huge.

Overdue babies can be bigger since they've been cooking longer. :)

I feel sorry for Pris having to host a house full of guests less than 24 hours after delivery.

Just went through a few older clips of Priscilla on previous 19K&C episodes (her wedding, going to Singapore on the mission trip with Jana and JD) and you know, she sounds A LOT more normal in those, a lot less of the weird slow speech stuff. I know a lot of people here are wondering about her mental condition but she just seems so much more normal and together in those older ones, which makes me think that there's something else going on, this isn't just the way she is.

Also, some people are saying they both seem more normal and genuinely happy in this last video and I dunnno, I'm still seeing lots of forced smiles and creepiness especially that icky icky hair toss David does to Priscilla.
