Something about Lindsey Graham lurking in, essentially, a closet just rings true with me. Also I'm glad there are clothing rules that apply to men, since so often clothing restrictions affect women only.

Also shame on them for being such lazy asses they couldn't be bothered to throw a tie on for 5 minutes to do the job they were elected to do. I suppose I should be relieved they actually showed up for work.

They can fine looney MTG for not wearing a mask, they should withold pay from congress members who don't show up or who show up dressed inappropriately.

I didn't know what a "quarter zip" is. Before I googled it, I had hopes they were still talking about the top half of his outfit, but had a horrible mental image of him with his fly 3/4 of the way down.

After all the talk about the drug-fueled orgies, my brain decided it was something in leather with twenty-five zippers. I was hoping as hard as I could that everything was still zipped up.

I can't understand how anyone with a conscience can continue to be a Republican, but at least Mitt Romney seems to still have some sense of decorum and honor.

The entire rest of the party seem to be competing to see who can be the rudest and most awful.

Yeah Chris Cillizza of CNN called out Graham and Paul for their antics

Quote

South Carolina's Graham and Kentucky's Paul voted against Jackson, which was not surprising. But it was the way they did it that's worth calling out.

Neither senator was allowed to vote on the Senate floor because they were not wearing ties, as noted by CNN's Ali Zaslav and Ted Barrett. Graham arrived to the vote wearing a quarter-zip and a blazer, even though video from a press conference Graham participated in on Thursday shows that he was wearing a tie earlier in the day. He voted "no" from the Senate cloakroom, which essentially amounts to a members' lounge off of the floor.

Graham spokesman Kevin Bishop declined to say why the senator did not wear a tie for the vote when asked by CNN. "He voted. His vote was recorded," Bishop said.

Meanwhile, Paul delayed the final vote for nearly a half-hour before casting his "no" vote from the Senate cloakroom wearing casual clothes. He didn't respond to a question from Barrett Thursday as to why he was late.

The article goes on to mention that Lindsey wanted J. Michelle Childs but I bet cash money that even if President Biden had done so he still would have come up with an excuse not to vote for Childs.

Oh, I can understand why: it’s his way of holding on to power. Non critical thinking people vote for a party blindly, because they have always done so. They tie up their identity with said party. So if Romney knows that he has more R-voters in his state that are certain to vote for him than there are D-voters who would vote for him if he switched parties, he’s going to remain a Republican.

It’s not about conscience or values or political beliefs. It’s about power.

Romney can afford to go against the grain and vote with D’s because it serves his purpose: a semblance of sanity on the R-side. See, he’s not so bad, we can safely vote for him, those R’s doubtful of the way the party is going will think. And McConnell will let Romney vote with D’s, as long as it doesn’t stymie his own purposes. In Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s case, it doesn’t alter the fact that she will have been voted in even without a single R vote, as VP Harris had the deciding vote. So Romney, and concerned Collins, and Murkowsky can vote whatever, if it helps them get re-elected— and hopefully that will aid McConnell in becoming Senate leader again next year.

It’s all about power. And they will do anything and everything to get hold of it and hold on to it.

This is why I won’t applaud anyone who remains in the Republican party. Even if they sometimes vote with D’s, even if they seem sane and reasonable. Even if they show a semblance of decorum.

They are conning you.

I was hoping she’d make Kavanaugh cry, but going after Gorsuch is good too:
