Rush Limbaugh Twitter doesn't exist anymore but he wasn't banned, he deleted it on his own. (Incriminating DMs?)

He didn't like Twitter very much and only started his account in, I think, October of 2020.  It wasn't a great loss for him.  And he's not well, his good buddy gave him a medal, and he's paying him back for that.

Phil Reynolds thinks that calling for civil war and fighting to the death is not inciting violence.

This guy is lambasting Trumpsters. I agree with most of what he says. Caution: NSFW language.

Scott Walker is no longer governor of Wisconsin, nor do I even live in the state anymore—yet he continues to tick me off.

He compares what happened January 6 with what happened over several months of 2011.

I was a professor at a public Wisconsin university at the time, and I was at some of those protests. (My daughter and I both think  the day I took her was our best mother-daughter outing ever.)

I saw what happened, and not a single mainstream media network got it right. But the Wisconsin protests were far from what happened last week.

First, they were not violent. No one was walking around with firearms or zip ties, and no one was shouting to hang Scott Walker or hurt anyone. No one was beaten up or shot.

Second, there was little interruption of governmental processes. There were some protests that erupted in the gallery, but those folks were escorted out and the work of the government was able to continue. We weren't trying to get anyone to stop what they were doing. And that didn't happen often at all. Just a handful of times with a few individuals. Certainly not a mass of people that overwhelmed the room.

Finally, most folks followed directions. When they were told they couldn't go in given area, people went up to the line but then stopped. No guards were getting chased, and they didn't have to bar the doors to protects the folks inside rooms. When people refused to comply with directions, the guards were not in danger while they carried those individuals away.

Scott Walker has other tweets referring to the 2011 protests as a "violent mob," but that is inaccurate. There was a mob in that there were a lot of people and that we all had the same goal (rescind Act 10), but it wasn't a mob in the way most people think of it.

Isn't it amazing how he still has the ability to do this? I no longer live in the state either and he still ticks me off every time he opens his mouth.

The sound of his voice still elicits physical symptoms of anxiety in me. So annoying that this followed me from FitzWalkerStan. (Wow. Hadn't thought of that word in quite a few years.)

They could also use the firm Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe (from Car Talk).

So far, there have been two suicides of people who attended the  insurrection at the capitol.  I actually do fear more.  Quite a few of these people (probably almost all men) have destroyed their marriages and lost relationships with children, parents, other family and friends to follow the QAnon and Trumpist fantasy.

They believe deeply and with absolute certainty that were taking back DC and Trump was going to be in office for another four years -- they were sacrificing EVERYTHING for him.  Instead, Trump told them to go home and in a few days Trump will go hang out in luxury at Mar a Lago after being effectively silenced on social media and in just a few days, the Biden/Harris administration will be installed.

Meanwhile, many of the insurrectionists have already and will continue to be identified publicly, leading to job loss and mounting legal bills.  Some won't be able to make bail and will be stuck in jail.

As they say, "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" and "fuck around and find out."

At the same time, a lot of these yahoos are pawns in the larger power game -- disinformed and lied to so those bucks can keep flowing into Fox, an inflamed stooge army to elect Republicans and fawn over Trump, troll serfs indentured to Putin's troll farms, evangelicals who will never have an independent thought in their lives.

It's not that I feel sympathy, I don't.  But I do see the larger tragedy wrought by pathological politicians and corrupt businessmen/women, like Kochs, Mercers, De Joy, McConnells.

My fear going forward over the next week is that the maniacal, the fanatical, the pathological followers, the last ditch QAnon guys are going to show up in DC or locally, armed to the teeth and ready to kill because they have nothing left to live for or they just want an excuse to murder.

I have some probably misguided hope that some people who might have thought of going next week have paid attention to what has happened to the people identified.

If they have even a sliver of rational thinking they can see that the insurrectionists are not being lauded as national heroes but instead are being jailed and losing their employment when they need to work to pay for lawyers. Dreams of glory won’t keep them out of jail.

I think that maybe there should be a huge look at improving mental health services in the US while Biden is in office. While most of these people are against treating mental health (they are the "get over it" and "just deal with it" types), I think many of them need some intensive deprogramming at least.

I'm torn between "wow these people need help" and "damn just lock them all up and get them out of society so the rest of us can live". Unfortunately the way our prison system works it's unlikely that both those things can happen, although I suspect literally every person in prison could benefit from therapy of some sort (if only to help them process what they are experiencing).

I have lost all my chill, at this point. I'm usually a "pick your battles" and "live and let live" type, but I have no sympathy or tolerance for these Trump-supporting morons. Someone on my facebook posted one of those "let's all just get along, I love you not your political leanings" type things yesterday and I had to close the app before I lost my cool.

"Unity?" nope. Not anymore. I have no interest in unifying with nazis, racists, misogynists, or anyone who wants to force their own beliefs on other people.

It is precisely the molly-coddling of these fringe groups, letting them have room to vent their grievances and giving them the impression of legitimacy that has gotten America into the trouble it is in today.

So no, you should not have any interest in unifying with them. You do not want or need to have such ideals in your society, because they do not want to unify with you. They just want to take over; their way or the high way. That is not unity.

Exactly.  Sure, on many issues reasonable people can see things differently and it's good to have a cooperative dialogue so people can try to understand each other and debate in a healthy way.

Unity with hate filled violent bigots is the opposite of that.  There is no moral equivalency there.

Also, agreed entirely. One tedious suck monkey can ruin my day. I can’t imagine tons of them.
