$1.55 a gallon? It's $2.45 a gallon at my local Wawa (quickie mart with discount gas)

In the town I work in here in mid-Missouri at the beginning of the week it was 1.52.  It’s roughly 20 cents a gallon more here.  Also we have lower gas taxes here (and road conditions that often reflect it)

The people on my newspaper's Facebook page are convinced that the election has been stolen, we're going to end up like Venezuela, Kamala isn't really a black woman, she slept her way to her current position, the coronavirus will disappear tomorrow, etc.... :cray-cray:

Spoiler

I am making this post so it will show back up as a future memory on my timeline: Today is three days after the 2020 election. Gasoline is currently $1.80-2.10 per gallon. Interest rates are 2.65% for a 30 year mortgage. The stock market closed at 27,848, even though we have been fighting COVID for 9 months. Our GDP growth for the 3rd Qtr was 33%. We had the best economy ever until COVID and it is recovering well. We have not had any new wars or conflicts in the last 4 years. North Korea has been under control and has not been testing any missiles. Isis has not been heard from for over 3 years. The housing market is the strongest in over 20 years. Homes have appreciated at an unbelievable rate and sell within hours of going on the market, with multiple offers. I hope our new leadership can build on these things and can keep them going, but if I were a betting person I would bet that the only place we will see these results will be in this post. (Copied)
Keep a copy to compare later. 11-6-2020

Someone asked if COVID deaths should be remembered as well. She called them “negative” and that she had forgotten they were “friends” (quotes were in her post)

Spoiler

If Joe wins, congratulations to you all who voted for him. I hope you get all the “free” things you voted for. I wish the best of luck to all the small business, gun & land owners. When gas prices are soaring, taxes are high, & you can’t afford the extras of life, look back & think how good the last 4 years were. You can hate Trump, but his policies helped this country.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Most of the time it’s fertilized by ?. So make sure you hug an oil worker today because they are worried sick if they will have a job in the next year.

I hope you look at our farmers, factories, & steel industries, because they will get shipped back to China.

Make sure you tell a solider thanks for serving this country because our military will be downsized & will not get raises.

I don’t care if you agree with me or not. I wish the best for this country! I stand for the flag & kneel before GOD until my LAST breath.

I wish peace not war, but when you tread on my land & want to take my guns, you’ll have a fight. You can only rob the middle class so much before they break.

Time will tell the truth on this election & I believe this wasn’t the right answer.

I will NOT argue, burn cities, loot, rob, or steal because my President didn’t win. I’ll go to work, pay taxes, and do what’s right.

Feel free to copy and paste. I did!!

My mother, whom some of you might remember from her Q Anon antics, has been silent. She's been texting me normally, but not a word about the election. I imagine, however, that she's thinking 'something' will happen before January 20th to prevent Biden from being inaugurated.

My cousin still proclaims himself a "Trump Republican" on the political views section of his FB, but outside of a meme of Trump "watching the election" with some bottles of Comet and a "Russian collusion!!!" status update yesterday (I think he was joking, tho)... nothing.

My former classmate, who was going hard with the typical right-wing talking points memes (like, multiples in an hour), hasn't posted anything about the election or the candidates since Tuesday afternoon.

And that, fortunately, is all the Trumpers I know!

Updated: Going through the list of Q devotees my mom follows, they're turning on Mike Pence and Fox, and turning toward OAN and Newsmax. They also expect WI / MI / PA / AZ / NV / GA to flip "once this all settles" and are re-tweeting articles from Breitbart about election fraud and 'irregularities'.

And after rejecting the idea that the election could take 'weeks' or even 'days', they want to know why Biden was announced as the president elect... so quickly?

I think this tweet is my favourite:
Prophets of Baal (abortion) and Elijah's (true followers of Christ) showdown about to happen. Trump won and will be sworn into office. Leave twitter a while just keep faith keep fighting

Now I understand why mom hasn't been upset!

I'm also noticing a theme: they're pretending this is a movie, and this is the 'suspenseful' part.

It's so creepy how they're telling people what to think.

The Wawa near my house was $2.13 this morning.  It hasn't been $1.55 in over 15 years in this area. Also, the "Fuck Your Feelings" crowd are now learning when the shoe is on the other foot that fuck your feelings works both ways.

It's $2.78 at the station a block from me. A few days ago, I had to drive two hours to a more rural area of Virginia, and it was $1.97 at Sheetz there.

How on earth does that work? Rural is invariably more expensive here.

WTELF??? The absolute major event of this year, the "crowning glory" of Trumps reign and she thinks it's "negative" to comment on it? I am never going to understand this mindset.

Oh good - screenshot and remind them of it when the next fascist does something.

(Also I just calculated what those prices are in litres, and we're on $4.54/gallon at present. Which is down from last week.)

My cousin has now started saying that she is moving to that conservative social media site Parler. But then it ends up she can't understand the ap and neither can any of her Trump friends. :laughing-jumpingpurple:

She then posted this which sort of makes it seem like Trump is Jesus.

@formergotharditeThat picture ultimately got a wtf from me because omg making 45 like Jesus they can't see they've made an idol of him like Jesus said not to do. Or was that in the Commandments somewhere? I love that they can't figure out the app. I'm all for healing the country but if 45 is constantly being equated to Jesus that's some scary shit.

Anyway, this is what is posting on my FB from the Midwest. One of the comments was that is just a fraction of what he has done. Can someone tell me exactly what he has done for the middle class?

In my state, the largest population center is where I live. We have an extra tax on gas here. That helps to pay for services in the rural areas. That’s one reason I get sick of the rural areas whining that Northern Virginia invariably picks statewide elected officials. Also, real estate is exponentially more expensive here, so rent for each gas station is way higher and the cost is passed along to consumers. To give you an idea of that difference, I live in an 1100 square foot  two bedroom condo that was built in 1971. Condos in my complex sell for $260,000 or so. For that price, you can get a nice fairly new 2,000 square foot  three bedroom and two bath single family house with a garage and an acre or so of land.

Factors in gas prices are taxes, where your area is getting gas from.  St. Louis and surrounding area here comes out of Illinois, which my part of Missouri I think comes out of Oklahoma.  Then there are things like “summer mix gas.”  I know greater Kansas City has this due to summertime ozone/air quality issues.  Out here in the middle of the state we don’t have that issue.

in the town I work in, there’s a convenience store that likes to have the low gas price.  When the station next door reacts, they bump down more.  Hence the 20 cent difference between where I live and where I work.

I learned in this thread that some parts of the country you can buy gas for under $2 a gallon.  Shocked Pikachu face.

I don't do SM, but my ex-husband told our daughter that the only millennial that has her head on straight is Tomi Lahren.  Millennials shouldn't be allowed to vote, and it disgusts him that Biden voters are not only allowed to remain here as we're actively trying to destroy America.  And he's yammering a lot about Bolsheviks but can't make sense of it.

To top it all off he is furious because he knows Biden is going to take "in God we trust" off the money.  When she said she doesn't think it should be on there anyway, separation of church and state and such, he said she and others who think that way should lose their citizenship.

So clearly he's one Trumper full of reasoned arguments and calm response to the election.

I'm not sure what gas costs here right now, but I'm near the border of North and South Carolina, and here any time you go to or near South Carolina for anything you fill up with gas there, as their taxes and therefore prices are lower than ours.

It shows. You don't have to see the sign, you can feel when you cross the border into SC.

I've never understood why religious people would want it on money in the first place. Think about some of the truly vile things that people do with money. Why would you want your deity to be a part of things like that?

Transportation costs are the main factor for us - there is a tax that pays for a lower price on diesel which gets used in agriculture, but all the land cost price differentials are the same. That and there are fewer people in the rural areas, so to make the same level of profit you have to charge more.

I think this definitively proves that no one of them have ever actually read their Bible for meaning.

Roads get bumpier? (Our gas taxes often go to road maintenance, particularly in very large states.)

Wasn’t it added during the “red scare” of the 50s?  “We ain’t no commies!  IN GOD WE TRUST!”

(Or am I thinking of “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance?)

ETA:  It’s been used on coins since the 1860s, but wasn’t officially required until 1956.
