I see they've included pictures of AS's and E's bedrooms (the stables). Or maybe those are the "prayer closets"? They look like torture chambers to me.

It says the bedrooms are upstairs but it looks like a one level to me. Wow, that is a large house and lots of land for $325K. What is the income source for the Botkin family? Books, tapes, lectures? Anyone have a real job?

Looking at the photo of the front of the house, you can see that there's an upstairs deck on the right side.

Also, the front of their house has no windows. Very odd.

Letgo, you must me new here. We've been talking about how teh Botkins have no apparent source of income for YEARS. :D

Not new. Been reading a long time, registered on the old board, posted, completely forgot my name, registered again. I just can't figure out what they do! Has Mr. B EVER had a job? We know Mrs. B hasn't. So where do they get the money??? Nosey, yes, but I want to know. It fascinates me how well some of these people live without having a job. Or without having some apparent type of self-employment.

Here's a wtf picture I don't think we ever snarked on:

Who is that? And who thinks it's good to (a) drop a cat in front of a dog and (b) take a picture of it?

Grrrrrr. I hope kitty got in a few scratches on the people who did that.

The dark kid is the youngest Thomas boy, Marscel. The blonde one is surely a Botkin offspring, I just don't know the name. And the Niednagels are pretty royal in fundie land. Their son Jordan married a Thomas girl, Melissa, and has a blog. It's insanely ignorant and infuriatingly close-minded. They just think they are the greatest thing ever.

Lucas Botkin and one of the Niednagels, I think.

Where are they moving to? Do we know? These people fascinate me too. Ever since I read the girls' blog posts about David and Nadia's wedding. That wedding looked very strange to me.

20 acres, 6 bedrooms, at $325k?! Is this common for the midwest? I feel like the land alone should be worth more than that. That wouldn't even buy a one bedroom apartment here. Being responsible for 20 acres of land sounds exhausting.

To be fair, I think it's more south than midwest (as a midwesterner). Property prices are MUCH higher around here, but I think for the area they are in, it's not uncommon. Tenesseeans, correct me if I'm wrong.

I keep looking at the pictures and thinking of all the wonderful things my mom could do with that house ... turning it into a hotbed of feminism in addition to having a place for her horses and a kitchen worthy of her skills.

Ooh thanks. And don't worry about the music, there are benefits to having a non working sound card!

I live in upstate new york, and that house would be along the lines of 250k to 300k here. We bought afive bedroom, two bathroom on a quarter.acre for 72k. it needed updating but no real.repair. housing is still fairly inexpensive in the more rural places.

That house is way too dark for my tastes. The bedrooms are very average, not watch I would expect. 20 acres would be nice though...

Ohhh Sableduck, that is my kind of bargin. LIke Sableduck saya, rural areas will get you more house and land for your money. When I am crusing "historical homes"like a porn addict I usually find quite a few fixer uppers with land for under 100K.

I don't mean that we don't have to do a lot of fixing up, but no structural repairs, just updating. Plus the house is haunted, soo its kind of cool. Well worth what we paid.

      Stupid loneliness!
Kid 1 went back to college (yeah! But sad foe me, she stayed with me all summer. It was nice to start a new phase in our mother/daughter relationship)
Zero prospects on dates. (Not that I have tried online dating, scared of that but I have reached put to a new group at church, etc.
I asked a friend to go to dinner the other night so I wasn't eating alone, again. The friend had plans, all my friends always have plans. I see stuff on social media, I'm never invited. I'm single, I'm the 3rd or 5th wheel.
My one parent friend at kid 2's fall sport won't be there because their daughter made varsity (Yeah for her!!! Seriously happy for her. Sad for me for another sport I basically sit alone, did that majority of spring and summer sporting events.)
And now I'm crying as my mom told me 2 different funny stores that former teachers remembered about my twin. Both stories were about how they got a crack out of my twin's antics (my parents went to a funeral today and saw former colleagues). Teachers remember me (after all I was a twin and teachers' kid) but none would have memorable stories of me.
      I feel invisible.
Don't worry, this will pass,  it always does. I just need a pity party for a few days. I'm not in anyway going to harm myself. As lonely as I am, I have a very full life I (usually) love. I just needed to vent and cry for a moment.
If you are still reading this, thanks Fjer. 😊

Absolutely awful about the fires on Maui. In 2019, I stayed in Lahaina. I liked to sit on the sea wall, which is the only structure left now, and watch the water. People are receiving help, but many had to leave pets. Please donate to the Maui Humane Society, which is leading efforts to find, treat, and reunite pets.

Nebraska’s new football coach, who is involved in an organization called Man Up Ministries, labels certain players “Alphas” and sometimes “extreme Alphas” and the local paper has a nice piece on why people objecting to the term “alpha male” are wrong and it has a “nice ring”. 🤮🤮🤮🤮
