Popping Them Out Like Pez: Upcoming Babies 16

Whelp. The famlly is meeting the baby. Clearly (and not surprisingly) there is no social isolation in Mortonville. Exposing a freaking newborn baby is just stupid. And, of course, dangerous.

Shoshanna’s 44 weeks now, I guess she’s been able to “hold” it in.

I choose to believe the due date was wrong. I cannot wrap my brain around anyone willingly letting it go this long.

I agree. Only a terrible midwife would allow this.

I am guessing her midwife knows she probably ovulated late in her cycle and is actually not 44 weeks. Otherwise she would have tried to induce her by now. Her other daughter was very late as well. Which leads me to believe that her ovulating late in her cycle might be a normal thing for her.

Does anybody know when Shoshannas due date was? Is she in her 44th week (43+) or finished 44 weeks already? My nerdy mind would like to know. ??

As a midwife myself (but in the uk) who is pro homebirth/natural birth etc...I cannot get my head around how a trained and registered midwife would allow this. Sadly I can only think of the negative outcomes from this....stillbirth/macrosomic baby/shoulder dystocia and MOH. Yes she could have her dates wrong particularly if she doesnt have proper antenatal care and scans but 2 weeks + out is very unusual. If we had a woman who refused induction they would be transferred to consultant care and have to have ctg's twice daily and dopplers every other day....I've only ever known 2 women in 6 yrs...sadly 1 have a stillbirth and the other "got away with it" as the consultant says.

I’m so glad I knew exactly when I conceived with both of my kids. Plus I had dating scans that aligned with when I knew I had conceived. Because modern medicine is awesome and I use it. Unlike so many idiotic fundies.

I don’t think they can force someone to have an induction. If a midwife or a doctor wouldn’t allow the pregnancy to continue, what are they going to do?
They can’t do anything to her body against her will.

In another thread someone posted that Shoshanna has used an Amish midwife in the past. I have no idea how/if the Amish induce labor.

Found the post:

No they cannot force you into a induction but you can report them to social services as neglect against an unborn!!! Well you can in the uk at least.

Also they would have to sign a form to day they are going against medical advice so if anything happens they have no comeback

This is the same in Australia. One of my friends here in the US recently had her second baby, 6 years after her first. Her first pregnancy and labor was extremely traumatic- she was only 17, healthy and not overweight, developed preeclampsia and was induced at 34 weeks, she was having contractions but her cervix wouldn't dilate for 48 hours, baby went into distress, emergency c-section, baby aspirated on maybe amniotic fluid during the c-section (I don't think it was meconium but maybe it was), then my friend hemorrhaged and both her and the baby nearly died. They were advised by a nurse on the down low to sue the OB because so many mistakes were made in the whole debacle as far as his decisions throughout and they settled. She didn't want any more kids ever but they had a "surprise" pregnancy. This pregnancy was complication free and she obviously had a new obstetrician. She has very irregular periods and due to her husband's work schedule, she was fairly confident of the week this baby was conceived but because of the dating by last menstrual cycle, she believed they were dating her gestation about 3 weeks ahead of where she actually was. Her OB actually semi-agreed with her based on her scans but refused to let her go past 41 weeks exactly from her last menstrual cycle because bub should be fine whether she is 38 or 41 weeks. She wanted a VBAC and he was happy to let her try that, especially if she went into labor naturally, but was very honest with her that  there was a good chance induction might not work well for her based on her body's reaction the last time. So they tried to induce and after 14 hours with no progress, she had a non-emergency c-section that evening and had a healthy baby girl, 8 pounds even, and she was able to hold her baby immediately this time and enjoy getting to know her new daughter and her family rather than not see her baby for 16 days like last time because she was in ICU and unconscious and baby was in NICU.

You shouldn't mess around with going too far over. My Aunts are nearly all registered midwives and RNs, and they've always said the same as my friend's OB did- you're better to go a little earlier (37 or 38 weeks) than go the same period of time over 40 weeks.

Huh, I didn't know that. Can you report someone who smokes or drinks alcohol or drinks too much coffee during their pregnancy?

When we do the booking consultation we get every lady (smoker or not) to do a CO2 reading and if they smoke more than 8 a day or their CO2 reading is above 5 they are put under consultants and are not allowed to birth at the midwife led centres (due to smoking causing small babies) they have extra scans so a total of 5 scans during their pregnancies to monitor growth and there are put on smoking cessation courses. When it comes to alcohol most women that drink pre pregnancy give up as soon as they know...if they carry on drinking then they obviously have a 'problem' so are referred to our specialist substance misuse midwife and are referred to social services...alcoholics also tend to have chaotic lifestyles so are 'usually' known to social services tbh.

44 weeks?! Holy crap. I went to 41+5 with one of mine. I was 100% sure of my dates. We started trying natural induction methods at 41 weeks, along with multiple bio physical profiles and non-stress tests. Everything was fine, but if she hadn’t come by 42 weeks I would have gone ahead with medical induction. Thankfully I went into labor and had a very quick delivery (I literally only pushed once and she was born), and a very big baby! She was 9lbs 2oz.

i just can’t fathom being okay with going so far past a due date!! And I’m rather “crunchy” about birth stuff!

Atlanta and Jordan Goodwin's twins were induced and born at home today. They had a boy (Hew Dalton) and a girl (Charlotte Elinor). Charlotte is doing well, but Hew had some breathing difficulties and has been taken via ambulance to the hospital. Jordan is staying with Hew while Atlanta remains at home with Charlotte.

The twins were full-term. Hopefully, this is an abundance of caution rather than anything serious with the baby.

I saw that Lisa Metzger was in the hospital yesterday. One of my oldest friends (I'm from the area) commented about it being a great day for a baby to be born. I think they are plexus (or some MLM) buddies.

Love how she says jesus was looking after her...no you idiot it was the trained medical professionals, science and a good old blood transfusion that saved you!!!! Why the hell does she keep risking herself and her other kids like this. Insane!!! And then praises god not the actual people that saved her. Selfish woman.

He is axe_and_anvil, she is atlantavictoria, her website is www.home-at-winshaw.com, he has his own but I think it is mainly about his business.

She had a website before she got married, she is an extremely talented seamstress and did some awesome work
