Eh it's more he knows it's either do it or I'm completely down and nothing runs around here without me. I still have to ask and he still rolls his eyes every time like it's some big inconvenience.  But at least I don't hurt *as* much.

Mirgranes are a b!tch. I have never found anything OTC to help my mirgranes.

You and me both, but I've got a routine that works as best it can even if I am looking forward to going back to my old neurologist. While I was pregnant I didn't have any, which was really nice considering I couldn't keep food down or make an appointment with the neurologist in any reasonable timeframe (6 months) for it to be addressed by a multi-specialist team.

This thread drift is a nice reminder in what's turning out to be a pretty crappy month from people being sucky. There have been so many strangers who've gone out of their way kind when I've had the unfortunate luck to have the aura start in public and know the time frame where I can get home safely.

Also, we keep thinking it's nurse Abbie into Essential Oils, but I'm not counting JD out. I'm sure most of the oils themselves will be bought from a fundie salesperson, but I'd be more alarmed if Plexus was on the registry or a Plexus shower was being thrown for them.

I must have missed the discussion of Abbie and JD's enormous bridal registry (and the January wedding date): https://registry.theknot.com/abbie-burnett-john-duggar-january-2019/27818734

I'm all for the camping gear and board games on the registry, but no one needs that many throw pillows. And I am totally giving Abbie the LPN the side-eye for all that essential oil crap on the registy.

And who registers for a refrigerator? That ain't happening.

Oh and of course there are multiple Ellen Degeneres items on the registy. The Fundy favorite!! : )

And this?  Please keep your sexy apron fetish to yourself, JD:

I wouldn't really hold my breath on the wedding date the Duggar's usually put a later date to throw people off. that would an almost six month engagement I don't see any Duggar waiting six months to get married.

I suffered from occasional migraines (about 1 per month) and tons of headaches (3-4 days a week) for the longest time. Interestingly I have been migraine and almost completely headache free since I am pregnant (that are nine months now). My grandmother told me it was the same for her and she never had problems again. So hopefully this was it.

Wouldn’t recommend it as a treatment obviously but I think it is fascinating how bodies sometimes work.

I am in the first trimester and have not had any headaches. I normally get frequent headaches. I have eaten some food that normally bothers me and not had a headache.

Fellow migraine sufferer here. Maxalt works for me. Nothing else ever has, including the injections they give you at the doctor if you go in with a horrible one. I do not get migraines while pregnant (such a nice respite). My neurologist says that it has to do with the change in hormones that helps.

Essential oils: So much woo. Some of the stuff they claim about them make my eyes roll all the way into the back of my head. I had a friend/new acquaintance who started selling them and she was so aggressive trying to get me to buy them from her it essentially ended our budding friendship.

That said, I do like a few of the practical ones like peppermint oil - works well for headaches and muscle aches (doesn't make them go away for me, per se, but the cooling sensation provides a distracting relief). Lavender does help if I'm feeling stressed, plus it's just my favorite scent in the world. And lastly, I've had good luck diffusing eucalyptus to help clear my sinuses when I'm sick. That last one was my friend this winter when I was pregnant and couldn't take anything to help with all the flus and colds I kept getting.

Then, unfortunately, I read eucalyptus was dangerous for cats. I fortunately didn't see any adverse effects from my cats, but I certainly haven't used it again since I learned that. I did notice they were markedly avoiding the areas I was diffusing it. Smart kitties.

Okay,I admit I use essential oils,I have cats,and I don't diffuse around them,nor do I ingest them.

I have oil made the claim,if I put it on my big toe,I won't snore...it did not work for me...I still snore. There are some oils, that I like very much like lavender, lemongrass, cedarwood. My friend,is also aggressive about these oils, and even try to get you to replace your soap, dish soap etc, with their overpriced products.I'm sorry ,I just can't see spending $15.00 on dish soap.

Someone I worked with had them 4 times a month or so and they stopped when she got pregnant and never came back.

I used to get migraines with auras a couple of times a year - usually they seemed to be stress related and some of the stronger pain killers worked. Now, my migraines seem to be triggered by barometric pressure changes, of which there are a lot here - and joy of joys, I can't find anything that will work on the pain. These kind of migraines apparently have some anxiety and depression related side effects, so they are helping push my depression to worse than normal levels, and even when I don't have a prodromal/migraine/postdromal going on, I'm in a state of near constant anxiety with the occasional panic attack thrown in. The only thing keeping me going is my plan to moving somewhere more barometrically stable within the next couple of years. My sympathies to everyone on the board who has migraines. They can suck the joy out of life.

I had frequent (like monthly) migraines until I went through menopause and the frequency has really slowed down ever since.  I still get frequent non migraine headaches though, as well as in ocular migraines, which are not even remotely fun and amusing.  My migraines were always with aura though, so I think that's why I'm getting the ocular ones now.

I had some crazy ass auras though, including ones in which photos/images would flash through my mind like some weird slideshow.

Holy crap - I used to get those all the time. Aura + nausea without the pain. Bizarre. I think they may be hereditary, though, because my dad used to get them frequently (still does).

I haven't had one in years... probably at least 20 years. Thankfully. I always tied their stopping to my quitting smoking - I quit smoking, no more auras. Knock on wood.

I get ocular migraines. They scare the shit out of me because I also have a retinal condition that increases the risk of detachment and other issues. And the symptoms of an ocular migraine mimic some of the symptoms of those issues. So I end up trying to decide which it is. So far, always the ocular migraine.

About a year ago I had headaches that wouldn’t go away and my doctor only told me to take OTC meds and go to the ER ir it got worse. I finally got tired of the headaches and made an appointment with my chiropractor. They have a nurse practitioner on staff, as well as a physical therapist. They were actually helpful in helping me find a solution and not just mask the problem. After I finished with therapy I got a yoga strap and I now do the excersizes at home and my headaches are gone.

Sigh. I have a young person that I am friends with on FB. Two pregnancies with spontaneous rupture ending in a C-section in the early 30 weeks and she is convinced that Plexus is going to give her a full-term water birth this time. I guess I hope that she is successful in getting her dreamed of birth but I dread the Plexus worship that would ensue. Wish FB would let me choose words where all posts containing them were hidden. Love to follow her family but it's mostly Plexus ads. At some point my mild desire to read about her family is going to be drowned out by the Plexus and I'll unfollow her.

I hate how woo/MLM bullshit has ruined/tainted something that's actually pretty nice. Essential oils smell nice and can help with super minor things, but the people going around claiming that it's TOTES OK to put them UNDILUTED on open wounds/skin conditions, use them around pets, use them instead of actual medical treatment, use them around asthmatics/people with serious allergies, use them instead of actual psychiatric treatment, ingest them, et cetera, are ruining what's otherwise a lovely time. I'm thinking of buying one of those diffusers from Muji because I love smelling all the oils they have in the store, but it's kind of expensive and I don't want to risk causing problems for my boyfriend who's super prone to respiratory infections.

What is this Plexus thing?  and why would it create these miracles?

Vitamins, probiotics- I believe JRod is a fan. It's a Plexus miracle!

Dietary supplements. Jill Rodrigues sells it. Her manic Plexus-fueled antics keep that thread moving even faster than the Duggars (who do have multiple threads going at once). It’s “RV full of grifting” in Quiverfull of Subforums.

This. I work with special needs adults and one mother is insisting (lately) that essential fucking oils can cure her sons Fragile X Syndrome. Like no, lady, all you're doing is making your child drink foul tasting liquids.

Tell me FJ - shower curtains in? out?  over the rod?

I was sure you were going to start a war of duvet proportions with this but it’s been really civil. And I have learned that some people have two curtains, one to take the water and a fancy outside.

We have one on the outside of the tub.

Me too! I always thought it was because the bench wasn’t the proper hight and I just have to bend in a way my back does not agree with.

I love grocery shopping. Going to the shops by myself and taking some time looking at the books they have is like exclusive alone time to me. :pb_lol:

I used to get bad migraines with aura in my 20s, but since my 40s, I "just" get the ocular ones. Usually triggered by lights, ceiling fans, and once, horribly, from the brightness of the snow while I was sledding.  Such an awful sensation, but no headache.  Still sucks ass.

@Kittikatz Barometric pressure migraines are totally a thing. And not one many doctors seem familiar with. I always get a look when I tell them. Feel you there.

I love going grocery shopping alone. In the summer, my kids usually have to come along, and I don't like it much. I know it's good for them, to see how much things cost, and to learn the reasons for buying one product instead of another, but it does make shopping a lot more work. When they go back to school, I'm going to be like a dog let off its leash. I'll be looking up and down every aisle, just to see what's there! :pb_lol:

I love grocery shopping, and my favorite thing to do in a "new" place is to go to the grocery store, even on vacation. :)
