It may be -- I'm not too familiar with 501(c)3's of a similar size.

It's partly because the annual revenue seems to be *only* in the 2.7 million dollar range so the salaries seem disproportionately high to me.  And they ran slightly into the red in 2015.  If I were a donor I'd want it explained - as in given proof that similar NGOs had to pay staff in that range, what their qualifications are for the job, and what the COL is for them in Africa to justify the salary.

It may be an error on the form but Matt Chancey only works one hour a week for that pay!  Brad claims to work 55 hours a week, and the CFO 60 hours a week.  In their dreams. The CFO (African name at least) is paid in the 150K range from different sources.

What is clear that anyone in Africa accepting PPF's "charity" must have to swallow big doses of "Christian" preaching in order to get it anything from these scammers.

Hugely clear, although at least they seem to be actually digging wells.  They also seem to like going to closed (to Christian missionaries) countries to stir things up by preaching and then claim persecution.

Not an NGO I would donate to - ever!

Well, well, well... Look who corrected Doug/Beall with a curt, "Her name is Melania": Elizabeth Daming, sister of Monica Daming, who is the wife of David Botkin! Dare they delete?

I thought David was married to Nadia. Or is there another David Botkin??

Monica Daming is married to David Brown, Scott's son, so that seems even "worse."  ETA "worse" in the sense of her making the comment; it would be worse IMO to be married to David Botkin vs. David Brown.

If you look at the edit history, it seems that her first response was even more curt...

Good points & thanks for the clarification. I've only been involved with a local 501(c)3 for 20+ years and we do NOT go over $25K per year so as to avoid filing the 990. That would require professional (=paid) accounting for us, beyond what our volunteer treasurer could be expected to do.

Probably a typo but could also be lax filing. I knew of another local "non-profit" where one of the board members was listed as still working for 1-5 hours a week for the org several years after he died!!!

Regarding Susan Faulkner Disharoon's comment, on whose behalf is she praising the Lord? Melania Trump?

Actually, those running this scam "non-profit" had no shame.

It also points out the lack of enforcement by the IRS which, I'd guess, is totally complaint-driven in all but the biggest money cases.

The IRS is rumored to be overloaded.  They concentrate on the billion dollar non-profits.

I think it is up to donors to scrutinize the books and close their wallets as necessary.  I look at salaries, other overhead, and percentage of $$ actually going to fund the claimed programs.  I think a maximum of 25% should cover overhead if people are doing it right.  Others may differ.

A lot of these initiatives and walks for breast cancer or AIDs awareness don't get my support.  The overheads can eat up 80% of the money raised!

Be warned.

Ugh, thanks for the correction. I had Brown's image in my mind, but "Botkin" popped out of my fingers.

God, I love the "Stop. Just stop." The conversations between these people must be something else!

Wouldn't the people comprising what's left of VF (or at least Beall) consider those burlesque films Doug was making in Europe to be not much better than pornography? What on earth can be going through her head right now?

There's no way she wasn't watching him like a hawk on social media while he was over there. She knows how enthusiastic he was about it. It's not like she could possibly be deluding herself anymore, like, "Look what my poor husband is forced to do to support our family after our enemies destroyed us."

Honestly, I think she despises Doug, deep down. But she doesn't want Lourdes to "win." She doesn't want Jen Fishburne to "win." She doesn't want Peter Bradrick to "win." She doesn't want FJ to "win." She doesn't want all the people who warned her about him for literally DECADES to "win." She's so stubborn that she'd rather go on being miserable with her shitty husband.

I think it's telling that they haven't posted even one photo of the two of them together since Doug's European bacchanal and the resulting hoopla. I would be surprised if they are even living together.

Back on a desktop & looking for info on the wackery of Little Bear.

This may be the courtship story you were recalling. As a bonus, it was written by none other than Doug Phillips Is a Tool, back before he & Little Bear broke up. You also remembered the sword correctly:

Here's Little Bear pontificating on courtship in a Puritan (?) costume - actually, not sure what it is but he looks stupid as hell.

Woooow, I forgot just how nuts that thing was. It's like a Victorian romantic era fantasy. Thanks for finding it!

"When Little Bear and the Tool broke up..."  sounds ya know so hilarious

It's stuff like this that makes me lol on the train ride home while those around me who are not in the FJ know think I'm a complete lunatic.

Now that you mentioned the "no photo" thing you know there's sure to be one posted.  And what's this about "the resulting hoopla"?  Where, apart from FJ are you seeing it mentioned?  Not trying to be snarky with that comment (not at all) but if there somewhere else it's being discussed I'd be interested in knowing where.

I wonder if Beall knows about what went on in Brussels... part of me knows she knows... she HAS to know... but part of me wonders it she isn't being seriously played.

And I'm still waiting for someone in the know to become so fed up with DPIAT they just can't stand it anymore and start talking.

No, I only meant the hoopla here on FJ. But the thing is, Doug and Beall read FJ, and they know that a lot of former VFers read FJ. Some, like John Robert Moore and Lydia Coghlin, even admit to it. Tongues have got to be wagging.

I've only heard the story recently that she married him against her parents' counsel, but if that's true, it makes sense she will NEVAH admit to anything but unicorns and butterfly gases.

Remember that photo after the Lourdes revelations, that Doug had assured L that Beall would die soon because that's just how things happened in the Phillips family?  where Beall  looked like she'd lost 100# ? I thought sure, then, that she'd listen to *somebody* with her best interests at heart.

Well. We don't know & probably never will. She might have had the backbone to insist that Doug provide her with a boatload of mo et to live on, in exchange for her public support of him and the family.

Poor family. Those kids have to be the most cynical teens & young adults in the faux-fundie world. Hands. Down.

Did anyone even know that Doug Phillips=dw cinematography?

I don't see any connection, no cross over of likes on fb, no mention of one on the other, no mention of what Doug is doing on Bealls blog. There appears to be no internet foot print for dw cinematography. ( How did Florence even find him? ). I'm pretty sure that no one I know who still follows Beall and the girls has any idea about dw cinematography. Who found it first here? How was it found? If it weren't for the photographic evidence I would even believe it, lol!

Per an attorney friend of mine who has worked with IRS, the nonprofits that get complained about with some frequency will often get  some looking at. It does sound like there is just way too much lower level fraud going on for the IRS to catch it all.

Yes - IMO, there is a stalker vibe to DPIAT's FB interactions with her.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was looking for WW II & vintage cosplay and came across her.

Beall likely loves those children so much she will try to maintain the appearance or semblance of family for them and her.   Agree that she may not be watching him like a hawk--could easily choose not to pursue the web or dismisses much of what  others tell her is online about him as she likely believes it's people out to get them. It looks like the perspective is as others have said "We are done with that (VF).   Move on. Nothing to see here."   Denial is my bet. Not a payout from DPIART. And if she took him back. after Lourdes I think she'll take him back after a Flo Fling.   Her Blog reveals she continues in her faith but there is no mention of church. DPIART on the other hand says nothing spiritual now--I don't think. There are VF references and historic political ones too but that seems to be it. .  And yes  no photo of them together of late to be sure. I think Mama Junebug is correct that it would be huge for her to acknowledge error with DPIART given her family and some friends positions from way back.  (There were people like the Potters fanning the flames). And again, if Beall and DPIART don't read here then maybe Joshua, Justice , Liberty, or Jubilee do and while reading here may be painful and they may even disagree with much of what we observe, for the sake of their younger siblings and their own futures they ought to talk straight to their mother. That might be the one thing that would change her mind. Seeing Star Wars and JK Rowland on the bookshelf gives me hope. Are they all prepping or attending Spankys trial?

Threads like this are why I love FJ. I lurked for years and joined because of snarking on Duggars/Bates, then learned about recovering grace and read the sexual misconduct files about Gothard there, and years after both of these am finally learning about Doug Phillips/VF and his own scandals. So THANK YOU FJ women and men for keeping me informed about serious issues while making me laugh with your snarky selves.

(Having now dug into the Doug threads (ha)...those pin-up style women do really really look like his daughters/his wife when they were younger...)
