what's hokey pokey ice cream?

Vanilla ice cream with honeycomb toffee scattered inside. It's delicious!

On another cultural food of Australia note, if they dont visit a Bunnings barbie then they aren't truly tasting the food of my people.

HALAL SNACK PACK

Or, for least likely Jingermy dish ever: Vegan Halal Snack Pack from Lord of the Fries.

Seriously, they'll probably do the Tim-Tam slam though.

And now I want Tim-Tams.

There are so many foods I'm forgetting I feel it's necessary to list them all.

Pavlova, ANZAC biccys, a burger with pineapple and beetroot, lots of our lollies and chocolate, Vegemite, Marmite (I mean really only so they can see how terrible it is next to our glorious Vegemite overlords), snack packs and my personal favourite, MILO.  Starting off with a bowl of wheetbix for breakfast so we can determine how many they do, naturally.

I really should have lunch now...

I hate to defend the man, but Jeremy's probably used to eating some different foods. Not only being from PA/NJ where there are so many different cultural restaurants. But didn't he live in Finland while playing soccer after the Red Bulls gig ended? If anyone is from that area- correct me if I'm wrong, but there's probably some local foods that Americans would call "different".

Now Jinger...that may be a different story.

Tere are plenty of nice restaurants around circular so I'd expect they'd be going to one of them. Or even on a harbour dinner cruise. Plenty of people dress up for dates and special occasions.

As for holding a kangaroo, Jinger might be in for a shock when she sees them. Definitely not small enough to hold!

ive always found Australian food is a bit different to most places when I travel. I mean of course we have similar dishes, but there is a nice mix of a lot of different cultures that make it great. It's kind of hard to explain because I can't really argue for something like America has Chinese food and so does Australia so therefore it's the same, but it's not. Dishes are adapted for local tastes and so you do find differences, but in a good way! I for one, hope they try our pies. None of this sweet pie nonsense, meat pie all the way.

As for New Zealand, food again is delicious. Again a mix of cultures and tastes that makes it just that little bit different. If they don't have a hangi, some hokey pokey ice cream and some L&P I'll be bitterly disappointed. And if they won't have it, I will happily accept their servings as tribute. Oddly enough it's probably all the food I have a hard time getting here that I miss most about New Zealand.

I hope they try pavlova. The New Zealand bid for World Con 2020 had it at their room party last year in Spokane and it was yummy. I'm thinking of trying to make it. (meringue with a cream sauce and fresh fruit- yummy!) Jumpys snacks were also really good. I had them on a Lufthansa flight and commented about how much I liked them to a flight attendant. She found another bag for me.

I've never heard of such a thing, but now I want it. Right now. Plus it's fun to say.

My in-laws are in Australia right now.  Every single person they encounter expresses their sadness over the election, and my in-laws feel the need to apologize for what happened.  I wonder if Jinger and Jeremy are having to field the same questions.

Can you imagine how horrified the Australians would be when they express their sadness and JinJer says how happy they are with the results?

I love cookies! I'd take cookies over a fancy cake any day. In fact, cookie tables at weddings are a big thing in the area where I lived as a child.

I want this. Not just at my wedding but everyday of my life.

Okay, I'm loving her happiness with the kiss and the general cuteness going on in this video.

I didn't watch it with sound the first time, but I noticed Jeremy's little eyebrow wiggle at the end and wondered what that was about. Now I can hear they were talking about the kiss. Also, the way the male reporter cracked up when his co-reporter wondered how the night went made me laugh. ETA: To clarify, his sudden burst of laughter amused me, not the question about the sex!

Mmmmmm... tim tams. My friend from Australia is actually sending me some now :)

My husband is on a business trip to NY this week.  The Australians working there like him to bring tim tams over with him.   He should be popular because double packs were half price last week, so I loaded his suitcase up.

I'm not trying to be contrarian, but she is probably exhausted. Big wedding day followed by a long trip.

But there is something off about her here like she's not sure how to be natural. I suppose that comes with the territory of being a fundie daughter with shitty parents thrust into sex and marriage mere moments after you were not allowed to be ever alone since birth .

I don't know, I hope she gets to see a kangaroo. One good thing for Jinger.

I can't imagine anyone not being exhausted from traveling that far right after a wedding. Not to mention the huge life changes you mentioned. First taste of independence from her parents, first days living outside the family home, first physical relationship, first weeks alone with someone she's now legally married to. When I got married, I still felt awkward about my status as a newlywed, even though we'd been together for a few years and lived together for the majority of that time. I can't imagine what a shock to the system it must be for someone from her background.

Is this Jinger's official insta or is it another leghumper?

My guess is no... it's not linked from their couple's website (why is that a thing again?!) and Jill isn't following it. I'm sure if/when Jinger joins social media, it will be announced officially for branding purposes the enjoyment of loyal fans.

Well I would like to start a pool of when JB has a heart attack because of his son in laws. Derek sporting long hair and must not have plans to cut it. You know long hair is for the wimmenz. Ben is into music with a down beat and has a friend who danced at tth so he's going to hell too. Now Jeremy has a sense of fashion and he's got a satchel in the photo. I'm sure JB thinks it's a purse.

When I worked for the Australians, whenever anyone would travel over to Oz, we were all waiting and ready for the Tim Tams.  It was an event when one returned with them.  Yum!
