I was looking at Buzzfeed's list of the worst Amazon Prime Day deals and one of them was a light up "radioactive pickle tree." What a great idea for a Duggar wedding!

what a cool light - imagine if came in other colors

they could line the aisle that way

tacky and colorful at the same time

then Jessa could wear a baseball hat down the aisle

Sure, fire away with the questions,  @Emme and @OrchidBlossom.

I'm heading to bed now but will try to check in later tomorrow.

I'm seeing an AMA thread about this wedding, Chickenetti. ;)

I think I'm too tired to understand what that means.  :/

@ChickenettiLuvr, AMA stands for "Ask Me Anything". It's a format where others can ask a person (like you) lots of questions about a particular topic. On Free Jinger, the AMA section is in the "Are You There Free Jinger? It's Me, Margaret" forum.

If you're interested, you could check there and see what you think. :)

My main question is: how does the bride feel about all this nonsense?

My secondary questions are: How did your son meet a girl whose family wants her to be a robot for Jesus? I feel like Jesus robots don't exactly get out and party too often? How have you not hit someone (bride's mother) yet? And how much longer do you gotta put up with her? Have you considered sneaking a flask or several into the wedding? Because I would. How does the future mil feel comfortable dictating what your daughter does with her tattoos? Honestly the more I think about it the more questions I have. I wish you luck in this difficult time. Also to your future daughter in law, because that sounds rough as hell and if my parents acted like that they would find themselves uninvited to the wedding with a quickness.

It'll be coffee from that place she worked at for a whole day. Prayers will be said, Jesus (not the proprietor) will be thanked, and sweet fellowship of all varieties will be had.

That will be on my next party invitation.

Rainbow colors would be cool (too radical, maybe), or perhaps just the wedding colors instead.

I can see JinJer having a coffee bar at her reception. The coffee urns will all stop working & Buggy-eyed Sierra will get on the phone & look for replacements that cannot be found. But at the last second Jesus steps in and provides hot coffee from the local Jesusy Coffee Shoppe. Bless Up!

A moment of silence for Jinger's lost individuality that has been whittled down from what it must have naturally been to where it is only expressed through "likes coffee more than the others." Sigh.

Well the rainbow has been co-opted by them evil gays so that won't work.

Sincere apologies to you, @OrchidBlossom and @Emme.

I read Orchid's paragraph of legitimate inquiries -- and honestly, my brain just can't process this stuff right now.  I'm literally hanging on to the ledge of the bridge by my fingertips.  The insanity of the stupid rules and standards and convictions and more rules and thou shalt nots and "we don't do that here" have my head spinning.  I made my break away from this nonsense so many years ago that I'd honestly forgotten about how bad it was/is/can be.

FWIW, the bride's mother has been fine.  It's MY pious-gasbag-self-appointed-sainted-mother-person who made the ridiculous comment that God wants us to be robots. :angry-banghead:.  Thankfully her stupidity sucked all oxygen from my body so I was unable to respond.

Plus, forced interaction with idiot ex, his bitchy new  wife, and family members who blame me for his 19 years of affairs ... well, the PTSD, panic, & anxiety are at Def-Con 5.

I'll try to respond properly in a month or so to your questions.  In the meantime, wish me luck.  I'm just praying that national headlines aren't made.... (joking)

Bet there are 25 or 30 and it's a birthday. My friends cut out 40 pictures of cows and taped them all over my cubical at work on my 40th. I have seen companies that do the 40 vultures or what ever on peoples lawns.

It's a common fundraiser around here for youth organizations. Someone pays $20, and the kids show up and "flock" your front yard. Then you pay them $20 to take them away and "flock" someone else's yard. I think it's a cute fundraiser.

@ChickenettiLuvr oh my goodness! That does sound very difficult to bear. Best of luck to you! I'm sure FJ is here to lend an ear any time you want to rant... but please don't worry over much about responding. If you get to it, cool. If not, take care of your mental health and wellness! I'll just use my imagination on the crazy you are describing, probably just as fun.

You are a good mother.  I think I would have told my son that I had important business on Mars and gotten myself as far away from the looneys as possible.

Good luck.  I hope everything goes well and remember that after the wedding you can mostly ignore all those people.

No worries! We just want you to survive this wedding with minimal trauma! I will probably forever use that robots for God part though  because it's wonderfully baffling. Also, wtf family? Leave Chickentti Luvr alone!

OK, since we're talking about BAD wedding dress choices, I'll snark on the one I nearly purchased. We'll be married 30 years in October, and yes, that puts us right in the middle of the 80s... anyone remember handkerchief hemmed "tea Length" dresses? They were usually calf length, sometimes zig zaggy hemmed or lacy bottom dresses with full skirts. The other requirement of that age was HUGE SHOULDER PADS AND PUFFY SLEEVES. I'd actually found THE DRESS I loved in the magazine, and the store even had it in my size! Joy!

Until I tried it on. Now, I'm a tall, broad shouldered girl. Those SLEEVES!! NOBODY could carry off those sleeves unless she was five one and weighed sixty pounds.. I could have been a linebacker for Green Bay in those sleeves.

Needless to say, I didn't buy the dress, but I still have flashbacks...

That was my dress, minus the shoulder pads, for my first wedding, which was in a church and all. It was ivory, and I paid 90 dollars for it from a boutique, in late 1989. It did suit my...frame, etc., and I enjoyed accessorizing with long sheer gloves and a veil with a huge ivory satin bow; sure would look awfully silly these days, like deranged princess cosplay, maybe. When I remarried, I wore my best blue dress and he wore a grey suit and we had the preacher (whose name I got from a business card at the license bureau) meet us at our favorite park.

I would plan a nice park wedding for Jinger, if it were up to me. By the river in light rain. She and Jeremy probably wouldn't go home and watch a David Lynch film while eating wedding cake, though.

The first thing I thought of for "ring porn"  was the episode outtakes from Kid Farm.   At 3:38.
