To add to your thoughts-

1. I don't believe one word JB and J'M say about what happened to the girls.

2. I think stories become truth if told enough (in any family). So if JB and J'M said it was over the clothes while you were sleeping enough times (depending on the age of the girls) they will believe that story as the truth.

3. Since sexual sin is the woman's fault for being a temptress, minimizing the truth would have helped the girls heal (initially). I doubt any of the girls have actually worked thru all the issues with the abuse and their parents cover up of the entire thing.

This. If the girls had been asleep and had NO idea it had happened there is no way in hell JB and M would have told them. Never, not in a million years. It would have been two less victims who needed damage control and those two would have absolutely, 100% convinced themselves that if the girls didn't know it happened then it didn't happen. Maybe the safeguards etc. Not saying they wouldn't be freaked out or angry, but they'd never have let the cat out of the bag.

I very rarely make declarative statements about the internal workings of strangers, but I'd bet real money on this one.

THIS! You nailed it! I also don't believe that 15 year old Josh confessed to his parents by his own choice. He's proven that he's sneaky - so why would he suddenly confess on his own, as JB and M say he did. He definitely didn't confess to cheating on Anna until he was publicly busted for it. If the AM hack hadn't happened he would still be cheating and surfing porn today. I think if one of the girls hadn't said something then 15 year old Josh would have continued with his molestation behavior.

As sick as it made me to see Jessa and Jill downplay what happened to them, I do see why they did it. They've been told it's not "as bad" as other people experienced and it happens in a lot of big families.

While I do think Jessa and Jill enjoy their 15 minutes of fame, I do also think they are in a better position to speak out than the other victims as they are married, they don't have to wonder if they will be passed over for being "impure".

I thought one of them was in the laundry room during at least once incident. They would have been awake for that.

I also think the police report mentioned one of the older girls coming to their parents about at least one incident. Not sure if it's an older victim or the older one who wasn't a victim.

As far as them having 10 years of coping under their belt....that's technically could be true. And everyone copes in different ways, of course. But as far as we know, these girls had no ACTUAL counseling to help them cope. In their religion, they victim blame. So their way of dealing and coping was most likely very unhealthy.

I admitted I wasn't explaining myself well, and now I see how.

My understanding of the victim reports on the police report is that Jill and Jessa were asleep when Josh came into their room and fondled their breasts over the clothes. The police report said a Duggar child came to the parents crying and told them what happened. JB and M say it was Josh, some say Jill.

Later, two other younger sisters said they had been fondled, one in the laundry room, one when she sat on his for story time. Jinger and Joy are younger than Jessa.

Yes, I am sure the girls didn't get real counselling. I cannot imagine what kind of coping techniques they have needed to deal with living with the person who molested them. I was trying to say that for them it has been 10 years and expecting them to react to their molestation 10 years later in public no less, the way we would is expecting too much.

Is this not OBVIOUS or what?!?!? :lol: Lowe's is one of the sponsors that has not pulled it's ads from the Duggar shows and is staying mum right now about pulling ads on the Jessa & Jill specials... It seems like JB is praising them for it. Is he going to go around and take a picture with every sponsor in hopes of them not pulling ads for him giving them free publicity?

You are right to defend her. I was out of line for making that post. I regret it. (but for the record I did not call her "racist".)

I knew she was being sarcastic and meant to be funny. I didn't find it funny at that moment. I was pissed that a mother would perpetuate offensive medical jargon, even if jokingly. That's about me not her and I had no right to try and shame her.

It's just that I'm reeling from an upsetting encounter with an extremely arrogant and insensitive surgeon, who unfortunately appears to be the most qualified person in the tri-state area to operate on my daughter. I'm mad that I have to deal with his horribly offensive straight-out-of-the-1950's remarks about people with disabilities. However, it isn't right for me to direct that anger at people who don't deserve it.

I think we all understand how Elvis Presby's message just hit you the wrong way, and I am sure she appreciates your apology.

For my part, I spoke up only because I was afraid EP may have found it disturbing to have someone accuse her of not respecting her child and perpetuating racist stereotypes. I wasn't so much trying to "defend" her as to make clear to her that not everyone read her message the way you did.

I am one of those people who uses black humor to get through the worst experiences. Not everyone understands that, and it is painful when a defense mechanism is taken for coldness or indifference.

In any case, please accept my sincere concern for what you are going through. A sick child is bad enough without also having to deal with an unpleasant MD. Hang in there!

I think the "red" sponsors are the ones that made no statement either way. To me, those are the most likely to return becaues they didnt make a promise not to.

Jill has already talked about planning to use "safeguards" (seeing as they worked so well controlling Josh :roll: ) so I reckon Izzy will be locked down at night as soon as his first sister is born.

Of course we wouldn't, but we also wouldn't do most things that the Duggars would. You can't discuss their decisions with logic.

I guess it can go either way. I'd say focus on the companies that you use or have a relationship with. My thing is that some may consider the "josh" issue separate from the "new" show. We need to focus on the actions of Jill and Jessa, their postings, their grifting, and the cult. My hope is that the ones that already made a decision on Josh and may be more up to speed than those who stuck their heads in the sand.

I agree, and wanted to add that another important point to make to advertisers is that no one is thinking of Jessa and Jill apart from their family. The news media talks about "the Duggars" returning to TV. The 19 Kids and Counting page is celebrating the specials as an extension of the family show.

The specials are clearly a way to sneak the rest of the family (without Josh) back on TV. But the real problem was never Josh alone but how the parents mishandled the situation, failed to protect their daughters and are still presenting themselves as models and guides. There is no telling what else will go wrong with this family. Companies should not support the return of "the family" to TV by sponsoring the Jill and Jessa specials because the parents are just as guilty as Josh.

Does anyone know how long the usual Christian rehab lasts? If there is a possibility Joshley will be leaving around the time Baby Seewald arrives, maybe the birth special will also be used to divert media attention from him. I could see JB thinking this way.

Of course, they are probably just glad to get back on the air. I assume the other Duggar kids and maybe JB and J'Chelle will be featured in the specials (no Josh).

Yep, JB figures that if he is giving Lowes free publicity that they won't stop advertising on the show. Lowes is one of the only stores that didn't drop their ads when the molestation came out. I'm wondering if he is actually planning to take a picture with himself with ALLL of the other sponsors too?! :lol:
