Free Anna Duggar and the M Kids - Part 2 - Merge

Well, JB was able to get elected once with twelve or thirteen frumper-clad kids, and so did his friend Jim Holt. I think the reason why the electorate eventually soured on JB is because he only showed up to work to vote against abortion and nothing else. That's what I remember from the old newspaper articles we were discussing pre-Joshgate.

Wow. I didn't know that he only showed up for abortion votes. How typically DimBob

I'm still hoping that a video of the kids singing "Won't You Please Vote for my Daddy?" will get uploaded on the internet at some point.

I have wondered whether Josh ever approached Anna with his desires for rough sex, and she failed to meet that "need."

This makes me throw up. I hate these people. :tw_confounded:

I wish I knew of a recording of it, but here's an article that mentions it from 2004: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/offbeat/2004-04-07-bigbrood_x.htm

Wednesday, the brood drove down from Springdale in the family bus to watch mom receive her award from Gov. Mike Huckabee. The girls and their mother dressed in matching red and blue plaid jumpers. The boys each wore the same navy blue suit with a red bow tie, their hair neatly combed to the side.

When the family approached Huckabee, the governor bent down to shake each child's hand, repeating the names they shyly whispered to him.

"You guys are amazing. You really are," Huckabee told the family.

The clan is very close. During their father's failed U.S. Senate bid, six of the Duggars sang the official campaign theme song: "Won't You Please Vote For My Daddy."

Michelle getting a Mother of the Year award from the governor of a state.

Just a few months after her oldest son molested her young daughters.

Which was just a year after she'd helped cover up assaults on two other daughters and a friend.

The fucking hubris of these people will never cease to stun me.

TLC should stop playing games and just back the dump truck of money onto Anna's drive way for her to leave Josh. She'd get money. That would be more interesting to watch. Win win.

Just speculating here, but what if Danica had a "manager" who gave her no choice but to have sex with Josh a second time?

If Anna were my sister, I would risk prison by forcibly removing her and the kids from that hellhole.

ginder reveal parties/photo shoots are so cheesy and overly indulgent. I always secretly hope that the box will be filled with bats instead of balloons. "Congrats,  you're having a- BBLAAARRGGHH!!

I will do this should I ever have any non-cat babies. It will scare the hell out of everyone and amuse me. Thank you.

He actually was elected twice. Two 2 year terms in the Arkansas House. In 1998 and 2000.

TLC (the LEWD channel)  has hit an all time low with this one. Poor Anna doesn't even know how exploited she is.

She's definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed, it's a real shame.

It breaks my heart that she has no idea she has the right to say "enough is enough, FU Duggars and Fundie life, I want a life!"

JB only showed up to vote against abortion rights? Shocking.

yep. Typical.  What about those in need and already born. Did JB forget where he came from?

They're not godly enough. Only the unborn are important. :kitty-cussing:

Years from now, when this is almost forgotten, Jill and Jessa will be able to go on with their headships' surnames. Anna is stuck as a Duggar unless she goes through a legal name change for herself and the kids.  I cannot imagine having to introduce myself as Something Duggar.

I would love it if one day Jinger broke away from it all and changed her name to the proper spelling of Ginger.

Seeing Anna in the preview felt so wrong. The way she was looking down. It's her choice to be there but I'm sure it's because she needs money. I can't think of anyone genuinely hurt that wants to air something so awful publicly. It's one thing to snark on the others but I think running in to see someone's torment is pretty gross.

What scares me the most about Anna on the special is that if she is getting paid for it and somehow can make it a legally separated payment from Josh (Aka he can't and therefore his pending lawsuit) can't touch it she won't use the money to escape but to support him financially anyway. IMO she has no control over her money and this will be one way that the male Duggars can control her money with the added bonus of possibly having it safe from Josh's lawsuits. Call me cynical but that is how I see it being played out. No saving Anna, no independence for Anna, All about saving Josh.

Earned income is joint property in Arkansas as long as they are still married/not legally separated.

Then Anna has no easy financial chance of escape then :(

I am sorry to say it, because I wish it wasn't so, but I really think Anna appearing in these specials is an attempt to soften the blow, rehabilitate her husband and keep the gravy train moving. The tone is going to be: If she, the wronged party can forgive him, then everyone else should too. Whether it works or not is a different story, but clearly TLC is committed to getting this family, in its entirety, back on television.

Anna is living with the Duggars, participating in their specials and clearly keeping on with their lifestyle, despite the fact that she herself is proof that you can follow the tenants exactly and still end up with a loser spouse. She's still clearly drunk on the Kool-Aid and likely will be for the rest of her life.

I hope that her children manage to see through all the foolishness and are able to escape once they are old enough.

Oh man. I actually heard that when he was running (I was living in AR), courtesy of a journalist friend who had (I think) gotten it as part of a press kit. bear in mind they weren't famous yet; he was just a super-conservative state legislator whose Very Serious Ideas included capital punishment for incest. As my friend put it, "His pitch is basically: Vote for me! I have a lot of kids!"

hahahahaha WHO KNEW that would be enough to get him on tv, if not elected!

No offense anyone but the phrase "drinking the kool-aid" is getting way over used. Not only that, it's actually insensitive to the people that were murdered at Jonestown. They had guns pointed at them to drink it. It wasn't just kooks that fell for a belief system.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2014/11/18/the-phrase-drank-the-koolaid-is-completely-offensive-we-should-stop-saying-it-immediately/

The problem may not be that she doesn't know she has a right to say it. The problem may be that she doesn't have any desire to say it.  The life she wants may well be with the Duggars, but with a reformed Josh.  It is hard for us to imagine, but she gives no sign that she wants another life.

I believe that Anna was doing her best to be a good wife to Josh, by their families' definition.  I can also imagine that she would refuse to do things that weren't OK'd in fundie marriage manuals or wisdom booklets (and I wouldn't blame her a bit).  Who would she be able to confide in, if that was the situation?

She might believe that he's ill or she might still be figuring it out.  The details of the molestation and Ashley Madison hit the news within a few months of each other, and she gave birth in-between.  It has been a rough time.  And I'm sure she has gotten lots of conflicting advice.

I just hope she's able to decide, vs. having it decided for her, what's ultimately best for her and the kids.  And I hope that it isn't staying married to Josh.

<snip> But if [Josh] already repented for his sins long ago and was saved, what's left? Did it not 'take' the first time? Was he lying about his salvation this whole time? He can't be saved and baptized again. I really think that's the main sticking point here, as crazy as it sounds - molestation, adultery, porn, lies, deceit, it's all bad, but the fact that his testimony was a lie and he lied about what Jesus had done in his life, I mean... can he recover from that? I don't know how Calvinistic the Duggars other than Jessa and Ben are, but if I were them I'd be having serious doubts. I'd start to think, "Maybe Josh was damned all along. Maybe his salvation was always a lie." Whether that's because he's not one of 'the elect' or because he's choosing damnation out of his own free will, is Anna obligated to stay with him, if he's actively rejecting God?

Yes.  The real issue for the Duggars in general and surely for Anna in particular is that Josh was supposed to be "saved," but he did things that a person who has really " taken Jesus Christ into his heart," wouldn't do.  Was he lying and pretending?   Did he take Jesus into his heart and then let the Devil build a fortress in the same heart (presumably evicting Jesus)?

I have been struck by how several people from the Duggars and Kellar world have said that Josh needs to be "broken."  Apparently it is felt that if he is "broken" he might be saved, but not otherwise.

How hard it must be to hope that the person you love should be broken so that you may have him back.  And how can you ever trust him again?

I also think though......could it be that Anna is worried she can't have another life.

Anna has 4 children to raise and no education to fall back on. I wouldn't be surprised if all their money is in Joshley's name as 'headship' and Joshley could lose a lot of that money from being sued. It also may not be as much as we think they have, depending on how much they used moving to DC and what the terms of their TLC deal was.

Anna might not have faith she can make it on her own and feels like she needs to 'suck it up' to keep feeding those 4 mouths and keep a roof over their head. And she doesn't seem to have a lot of friends other than Mrs Pecan Thief and the Duggar girls and Amy. She might also fear losing her support networks/friends if she left Josh.
