Ken: Women in the work force= Satan's design?

Recommended Posts

I wonder if my company would let me add "Harlot of Babylon" to my business cards? Hmm....

I think it's implied by your mere presence in the workforce.

Good point. I think I need to lobby for a raise then; while I believe I excel at it, all this harloting and whoring is NOT part of my job description.

So basically, Ken thinks working women are Harlots of Babylon. I am so blessed to not have to work with this dumbass. I am also proud to be a Harlot of Babylon if it means that I get to use my brain and have amazing sex. I bet that he is a wimp when it comes to the women he has to work with. He wouldn't have the nerve or backbone to tell them that they should be submissive and stay at home. He needs a paycheck as well and he knows that he can lose a lot of business (and income) if he dares say any of that BS to any of his female colleagues or clients.

What does Lori mean by unfeminine in sports? My sister played soccer and basketball in college. She also was in beauty pageants. You'd never ever say that my sister was unfeminine while she played sports. There is no mistaking that she is female. One person's view of femininity is another's masculinity, and Lori definitely does not speak for her family, friends, or other Christians. I strongly believe that she needs to take her blog down, because at some point, Ken's business may be impacted if enough of his colleagues see what his wife and Ken believe. We are all entitled to free speech, but I wouldn't be surprised if at some point, it will affect Ken's ability to earn money.

And I love Aunt Genny. She is awesome and maybe she is the voice for the rest of the family.

Anyone want to explain to a very confused Jew what the hell is the Beast of Babylon that Satan is supposed to be riding? And it is different from the Harlot of Babylon riding the Beast?

Do we have the Harlot of Babylon and Satan both riding the Beast?

And most importantly, are these titles of pornos?

I think I'll tell my husband's cousin about the Harlot of Babylon title. Since she's a single woman with a career AND she's a sexy Iraqi, she'll love it.

In the book of Revelations, the font from which some of the best fundie crazy springs, the Whore of Babylon (aka Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and Abominations of the Earth) rides the seven-headed, ten horned beast.

Now, depending on how literally you take Revelations (for fundies, it's obviously very, very literally), the Whore of Babylon is an associate of the Antichrist and Satan, sometimes referred to as a 'counterfeit bride'. In Revelations, it talks about how she is cruising for a bruising at the hands of the Beast.

For the rest of us who are a little more interested in the metaphor of the whole thing, the Whore of Babylon is the Roman Empire, and the Beast with seven heads relates to the fact that Rome was built on seven hills. However, depending on how anti-Catholic your sect of choice happens to be, it can also represent the Roman Catholic Church. I know the LDS subscribes to this particular theory as well as several others.

Someone please roll my eyes back to me, because I rolled them so hard at Lori's girls/sports comments that I've lost them. Next thing I know, the cat will find my eyeballs and start playing eye hockey with them

When my little girl plays soccer, I see a strong, fast, smart kid who can outrun and outmaneuver most of the players on the field...doesn't matter if the other players are boys or girls. I don't care, and neither does DD. She just doesn't think that way, because it's 2000 freaking 14, and thank Og most little kids don't worry about whether a girl should or shouldn't be doing something. Unless you're being raised in a fundie religious group like Ken and Lori espouse, that is.

This coming from a me, a woman who wasn't allowed to play Little League baseball when I was a kid because, to quote my not-so-dear mother, "that's a boy game, Lemonhead."

I'm hoping that cat is not female because she won't look very feminine playing eye hockey.

I wonder if Lori watched "Women of the Bible" last night on lifetime? It was a two hour special and none of those women were the meek, helpless creatures that Lori thinks women are/should be.

Did someone call for the Whore of Babylon?

Doesn't every woman behave this way in the workplace?

I know I wore that outfit every day when I was working. It was a bit of a problem when I was working at a preschool because the little kids kept pulling out the tinsel on the skirt. But the dance did keep them entertained for at least five minutes.

So according to Ken women in the workplace is Satan's design. So why exactly does he have this woman on his business page:

socalbraces.com/meet-dr-leah-walker

If women working is as bad as he claims, why doesn't he stick to his principles and refuse to work for this satanic design? The answer is pretty easy, Ken loves money. I bet he is very nice and polite to the women he has to work for all while being angry that they are confident and successful. So he runs home to his miserable wife who only shows him respect because of God and takes over her blog to vent his real feelings about women. Ken is no fool. He knows that if he went into a workplace and made these beliefs known nobody would touch him with a ten foot pole and his sons would be out of a job.

If I recall, Ken came here because he was worried FJ could ruin his business ("Goggle" tactics, and all of that).

Uh, Ken, after reading your latest posts, you needn't worry about FJ. You're doing fine all by yourself.

I totally agree. I think if Ken had been worried about his business, he should have told Lori to shut down her blog. But Lori and Ken are pretty much hanging themselves professionally and personally.

I kind of want to know if the orthodontist practice management clients that Ken Alexander has know about this hateful behavior?

(Where is the google magic smiley again?)

I think at the very least the clients Ken has in Southern California might know about his beliefs and Lori's blog. It could be that they don't care about Ken's hateful beliefs. But I also think Ken has lost potential clients over the years due to Lori's blog. Anyone can do a google search on Ken and somehow come across Lori's blog. I know several people who work or have worked in the dental/orthodontic fields in supporting staff roles and I have a male family friend who is a dentist. My family friend has employed mostly women throughout his career. He has only had one male dental assistant and one male dental hygienist on his staff over the years. His other assistants and office staff have been female. Many good dentists, orthodontists, physicians etc, are appreciative of their employees whether they are female or male. I can see male orthodontists being disgusted with Ken and Lori's attitudes towards working women.

Lori's attitude towards working women is flawed when it comes to logic. She did a posting where she basically said that women with young children shouldn't be working as nurses. Society in general would be worse off if women regardless of family or martial status, didn't work. I think deep down Kenny boy knows that his clients' practices are running as well as possible because of working women. But Ken is still conflicted because of his other beliefs. It seems Ken's business does quite well. But, if he isn't picking up additional clients, it could be that some orthodontists don't see the need to hire a consultant.

Or, and I'm just throwing this out there, they may be going with Internet marketing companies/practice marketing that can do far more than just offer them a scheduling template or whatever.

A few seconds of googling orthodontal practice mangement brought this:

http://leeannpenicheandassociates.com/m ... president/

Yes, a consulting firm with a female president, which also serves the San Diego area. I'm guessing that Ken thinks she's the Harlot of Babylon.

Unlike Ken's website, which shows a pen next to the schedule, her site mentions new technology. I'm actually floored that Ken's site doesn't mention a word about technology. When my husband's office switched to an EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system, it was HUGE, and it affects every aspect of the practice management, since the office is now entirely paperless and absolutely everything links to the system. There's no way that you could ignore that aspect, and you need to partner with the companies.

ETA: In fact, it looks like LOTS of his competition is female. Some actually have relevant degrees (like an MBA), some have experience working in orthodontal practices, and many have something to say about technology in practice management and marketing. Maybe they also offer services that don't come with the attitude that women (who make up the bulk of support staff and an increasing percentage of orthodontists) are incapable of logic.

Found yet another potential Harlot of Babylon, practicing in his exact field right in San Diego:

I can picture Ken smiling at professional events, pretending to be open-minded and cool about his new female competition, while seething with rage under the surface. He's not hiding it well in these recent posts. Before, the SAHM thing was all from Lori, because she clearly had no desire to work. The recent stuff about how evil it is for women in general to work and how we all need to be disciplined by logical and more rational men is coming from Ken, and it seems to be nastier.

I finally caved and looked at Ken's business website. Is it normal for people in this business to post photos of them with their wives, children, and grandchildren? To me to comes off as a sympathy plea.

And if I was a Jewish orthodontist (one of many, I imagine), finding out that a potential consultant went to a university that offers a "Certificate in Messianic Judaism" would be a deal breaker for me.

It seems pretty old-school to me.

I realize that nobody wants to give away trade secrets online, but if I were looking for those services (and while I'm not an orthodontist, my husband is a physician, my BIL is a dentist, and Girl 2 has braces), I would want to know some specifics. Exactly what services are offered? How do I build a new practice? How do I incorporate an EMR system? How do I deal with HR issues? How do I market my practice? And mostly - how do I know that an expensive consultant knows what they are doing? The education doesn't seem to have anything to do with their services.

Ken probably goes have extensive experience. That's worth something, but how do I know that he's kept up to date? He talks about transitions, but does he have the business background to thoroughly go through financial statements and value a practice?

Lots of consultants use a lot of words that really mean nothing. I see a lot of that here (and on some of the other websites, to be fair). It looks like fluff without substance.

I also wonder what his Roman Catholic clients, Liberal Protestant or (gasp) agnostic or atheist clients would think?

And no, when we were in consulting, no company posted kid/spouse pictures. Why would they, since the damn kids aren't coming along to help with the project, are they?

In fact, in our consulting firm, we started 4 partners, 2 of which were brothers. At one point, 3 partners wives worked there and none of us used the married last name nor told any client we were married to one of the partners. We were there to work, not to date.

I have no idea why he has anything more than headshots on his web page. He's not running for congress!

"Disciplining your shrew" would be all I'd need to read to know he wasn't the consultant for me.

I've been to business sites that feature family pictures quite a bit. I still subscribe to the newspaper from the town I grew up in. There is an insurance salesman whose ads almost always features pictures of him and his family.

{L_MESSAGE_HIDDEN}:
His site looks a hot mess to me.

And then I read this (by no other than our own beloved *cough gag* Ken Alexander: " ... a true leader does not blame others, but takes full responsibility while effecting necessary changes," and literally giggle-snorted. Seriously, Ken? You spend ALL your time blaming your wife for your crap heap of a marriage all while whining, "But I'm the leeeeeaaaaadddder!!!"
