  1. Trigger warning for abuse of women and girls. This has been a horrible week. I've seen a number of fundie blogs and videos that address when women should be married, and what her status is in that marriage. I think some of these may have already been discussed, but I wanted to draw them together. I've seen some commentary videos about them on YouTube (Mr Atheist, and Suris the Sceptic who addressed these) as well. The first one was the Transformed Wife's video (posted on her blog 10 June 2019) on whether rape in marriage is a thing. She laughs, and says of course it isn't. She goes on a long and wobbly defence of something that is clearly rape, and the whole message is that women are literally just vessels for men to use as they like. The second was a video by Steven Anderson on consent and rape in marriage. I can't remember when it was posted (I think it was fairly recently but refuse to hunt amongst the sewage for it again). As far as he is concerned, saying 'I do' is consent for the rest of your life as far as a married woman is concerned. I've never felt sorry for Zoo until I saw this. Regardless of the terrible things she does and believes, she has almost certainly been a victim of assault in her marriage. I also feel so terribly sorry for the Anderson daughters, and what they are being brought up to expect from their eventual husbands. He thinks women are essentially vessels for men to use as they like. The final straw was a recent blog post from Biblical Gender Roles (on the BGR blog site posted 4 June 2019). This one really concerns me. This blogger posted a terrible piece about the benefits of marrying off girls as soon as they begin to menstruate. I get the feeling that TTW and PP would want what BGR wants as it feeds naturally into their world view of women in marriage. To me it appears to be a promotion of grooming and sexually assaulting minors. BGR wants to make it so that girls are essentially vessels for men to use as they like, and to be gotten hold of young enough to accept it. Surely this kind of writing is illegal? I know I tend to think of these fundies in isolation, and forget that they actually form part of a bigger pattern of abuse and misogyny. Reading these three together reinforces the idea that they don't exist in isolation, and someone who reads one blogger might well listen to another as well. It's horrifying.
  2. If any of you ever get the chance, search on you tube and type in "Quiverfull". The video is the fist thumbnail that comes up and the video is posted by paulmartson. Anyway, it shows a fundie family in Virginia being interviewed by Jennifer London (of World Report). The family has seven kids and are admittedly part of the quiverfull movement. The parents (Brad and Allison Shed) raise their kids much like the Duggars. The oldest daughter Olivia, basically mothers her younger sisters (there is only one boy in the family). She talks very bubbly like the Duggar's Jill and is (from her words) pefectly content to practice her future role as Godly wife and homemaker. It is quite the interesting video.
  3. Biblical Gender Roles Blog Author: Imrlgoddess » Mon Oct 19, 2015 11:42 am A Pagan friend of mine stumbled across this blog the other day, the post she found was on Disciplining the Wife, later she referenced the "Frustrated Feminist Wife". link: biblicalgenderroles.com/2015/05/31/the-frustrated-feminist-wife/ I couldn't resist adding a comment, last I saw it was "awaiting moderation". I'm fairly certain he will not post it, as I made reference to a BDSM relationship and compared it to the dom/sub relationship he was describing. For those interested this was my response: sndivorcee69.tumblr.com/post/131470939452/the-blog I'm sure a submissive role can be rewarding for some, it must work somewhere because it's done the world over. But I will always take issue with someone simplifying a woman's role in a stay at home situation...she's not a paid prostitute who cooks and cleans...she's a busy mom with needs of her own. Top Re: Biblical Gender Roles Blog Author: laPapessaGiovanna » Wed Oct 21, 2015 10:13 am Some time ago someone linked to it in Lori's thread and I fell in the rabbit hole. I can't stand that man, he is extremely ambiguous and only apparently logical in his ramblings. For example he claims that he doesn't advocate marital rape but the wife has to be always ready for her husband, he seems completely unable to see the contradiction. I wanted to snark about it on regular FJ but I had to stop reading there when I read him saying that non-physical dv nearly never happens and, if it happens, well in the Bible there's nothing against it, or something like that. I couldn't stand his bs anymore. I am glad you took the trouble to answer to his bs because I didn't have the stomach. A friend shared it on FB a few months back. Anything that even suggests someone is required to be "submissive" makes me feel really gross. Sorry if I overstepped, but I transferred this topic over from the Shelter because I thought the subject presents a rich mine of awfulness to be shared among us. I have read several topics on his bog, but my mind is too traumatized to really address them right now. I think the best, though, is the current topic "How a husband can enjoy sex that is grudgingly given by his wife"

    MGTOW....dot com...?

I did a search and only saw a couple of posts on other threads regarding this particular sect of folks. I saw the acronym on the Biblical Gender Roles blog (checking to see if he approved and responded to my comment). I can't understand the level of animosity and anger. Yeah I know some women who have worked over men...my husbands ex is one of them. She was the nightmare, the one who gives the rest of us a bad name but he's ok. There are trust issues that are being worked out but he didn't turn into a raging misogynist over it. Is it the shitty attitude that is supplemented by repeated rejection? I see a lot of divorcees on websites like this, wife got the dog the house and the car and he's a ball of hate. Wrapping my head around it is difficult to say the least. https://www.mgtow.com/forums/
  5. This site seems to be a hoax ran by a non-Christian Bible scholar. biblicalgenderroles.com/ http://www.patheos.com/blogs/nolongerquivering/2015/10/is-biblical-gender-roles-a-big-hoax/
  6. Just in for Ken Alexander: Homosexuality is "the worst of sins", and he didn't want his older kids knowing about it On a side note, the ever intelligent Lori sees no reason for children to even know about evolution. Lori Alexander: Lord help us, it's willful ignorance! The less your children know, the better.
  7. New business idea from Kenny. Women, and women only do not know how to live without the internet. Answer? Bootcamp. Learn to do housework for 2-3 hours a day- no less, no more. There are big bucks in this. And Everything, no exceptions, is always the females fault.
  8. Ken and Lori must be working overtime to crank out the crazy, because today's level of far surpassed their usual You can read the post here: lorialexander.blogspot.com/2014/12/the-tragic-loss-of-femininity.html#idc-container I thought this particular rant from Ken was worth the read though: Of course Lori is also in comments and has weighed in to say that soccer and basketball are "unfeminine":
  9. lorialexander.blogspot.com/2014/11/meryls-sweet-and-gentle-spirit-changed.html So now women should submit to ANY man? Regarding the bold description of love... funny how the Bible commands husbands to love their wives. It doesn't say anything about wives loving their husbands! (Maybe that's how Lori justifies not loving Ken?)
  10. When not having all of your ducks in a row = starvation, or not paying the mortgage, or going without power (like the Pearls' daughter). But not to worry, because Lori Alexander has a WTF solution for times such as these: Now hear me when I say, I have no problem at all with parents helping their kids. But pretending they are missionaries so you can make yourself feel better about the fact that they got married and started reproducing before they could afford to feed themselves? Just no I am also curious about how this washes with Lori's idea that God provides for those who bravely get married "without having their ducks in a row". Is God dependent on Ken Alexander slipping his kids a little cash to pay the bills? Also, if these godly missionary supporters have done as Lori suggested and had more kids than they themselves can afford, they are NOT going to have the money to pretend that sitting at home taking care of your kids = missionary, which = free money from the parents. Seriously, it's like they don't have the ability to reason. Sometimes I think Lori might have been a better (more well rounded) person if she had not had so much money in life (first from her father, and then from Ken). Her place of privilege has not served her well.
  11. lorialexander.blogspot.com/2014/08/does-god-care-about-feminists.html Per God's little mouthpiece: I don't know that I've ever seen so much ignorance bottled up in one person before.

How to get a woman to want to submit

strivingforwisdom.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/guest-post-how-to-get-a-women-to-want-to-submit/ Speaks for itself, but I'll quote one piece: Somehow, I don't think her ideas will work. Kinda hard to take advice from an unwed SAHD about marriage success. But I'll thank these types for the tip-offs of the type of man NOT to marry. She'll be doing another post soon about what women desire. Should be about as enlightening as this post. Women desire to be loved and protected (from something they don't even know) and be taken care of for life.

    Another Manly Man Blog

Thanks to a fundie in the introduction section for bringing his friend to my attention. Here is another manly, man blog. And by manly man, I mean a young, sheltered guy who thinks he knows everything yet really doesn't have a clue. He does actually address male modesty, but he seems to think that as long as a guy wears a shirt that isn't tight, no skinny jeans, and no speedoes women won't lust. Because of course the women's only lust after huge muscles. Next time, before you rip your shirt off and show your sculpted abs to the world, take a moment to consider what God thinks about your clothing choices. When you squeeze yourself into that compression tee that emphasizes those pects of steel, stop to look in the mirror and see what your attention is first drawn to. Before you put on those skinny jeans (why in the world are you wearing skinny jeans?) think about the message that you're sending. When you slip into your Speedo, please don't. I'm just sayin' allauthority.blogspot.com/2012/08/magic-mike-and-male-modesty.html His argument against homosexuality is possibly one of the stupidest ones I have read. It is right up there with handcuff and toaster marriage. It is a video where he tries to seem all cool and hip and basically bitches and whines because people who are gay have the nerve to say they want equality. He says by wanting equality they are not being tolerant of religious people who don't want them to get married and that to coexist with fundies people who are gay need to just go back in the closet because the mere existence of gay couples is persecuting him. He doesn't use those exact words, but that is what he is meaning. //allauthority.blogspot.com/search/label/homosexuality This post is about how the ebil feminists are cramping his manly style: Yay! More opportunity for our precious daughters to get shot up and maimed! Progress and stuff! So glad we got to the point where, as a nation, it's no longer un-cool to send your wife or daughter downstairs to check on the scary noise at night. For a moment there, I thought I might actually have to protect the women in my life. THANK YOU, PROGRESS! My life will be so much more satisfying now that I can guiltlessly choose the path of impotent, bubble-wrapped mediocrity. Or maybe it'll just be easier... not sure about the whole satisfying thing What I guess that whole thing about children being precious only applies to daughters? Sons can go get shot up and maimed and it is no biggie. And if I ever come across a girl being attacked in a dark alley, well, I certainly wouldn't want to interfere with her opportunity to show her equality! And if she doesn't make it out of the alley alive, no reason for me to lose sleep! Natural selection has worked its will once again So he would ignore a man being attacked in a dark alley? Wow, count me in as being more manly and godly than this twit because I wouldn't. I would try to do something to help. Perhaps I care about humans more than he does. But I do have one more request. While we're progressing, and being equal, do you think we could make registration for the draft mandatory for girls, too? Just being fair 'n stuff If we have a draft, there is no reason to not include women. allauthority.blogspot.com/search/label/Biblical%20Manhood Edited to break link _lilith
