Duggars, Duggars & More Duggars - General Discussion Part 3

I don't think Boob and Mullet will be letting go of Jana any time soon. They are lazy as hell and won't let their perfect slave get away. I feel so bad for Jana. She's always sad looking. I really hope a nice guy comes along and takes her away from this crappy family. She deserves so much better than what she's got now.

I do too, but am wondering why she hasn't already. Wasn't there at least one episode that seemed like a fundie want ad for her? I'm remembering the D&P wedding episode and think there may have been something more recent, perhaps at Josh & Anna's house. These are what I see as the possibilities:

- Jim Bob and Michelle won't let her go, especially with Jessa potentially leaving soon

- Guys think she seems depressed/worn out

- Guys have been interested but Jim Bob and/or Jana have said no or TLC requirements have turned them off

- She's courting, or may soon, but wants to keep it as quiet as possible for as long as possible

- She's waiting to avoid having a double digit number of kids (though I can't believe she'd wait if she met someone she really wanted to be with)

Ha Ha! I agree with all the above.

JoyAnna has been pushed into full SAHD mode (I wonder of she's still doing "school"?) and there won't be any more babies. I don't think they need Jana, or any particular daughter, so long as they have one or two until Johanna is nine or ten, which is when Jana started taking on full responsibility for a "buddy".

I wonder about Jana. During the Creation Museum episode, she was having some major cognitive dissonance about evolution. JD may be totally vacant, but I think Jana may be smarter than she (or we) think.

Michelle Duggar says:

You know, you’re gonna have those relationships for life and you really wanna cherish and nurture those even now, when you’re young at home so that you really will enjoy getting together later when you’re married and have your own families. Like I said, I pray my family gets together just like Job’s kids did.you know they got together and had meals even after they were grown. I think that’s the goal just to love each other and respect.

Does Michelle really comprhend what she reads in the Bible? Job's ENTIRE family was wiped out by Satan at a family gathering! She is either ignorant or that was a Freudian slip. :P

I bet Pris was very worried that she was going to be too old to get married. I mean, they're raised to be wives and mothers. There's no other perspective than that. Bu what do you do if no man comes around whom you like (and even more important: whom your father likes)? It must be the worst nightmare for every young fundie woman…

Pris was closer to 25 when she courted/married. Pecan Thief said he wouldn't court until he turned 25 to honor the brother who died at that age; Pris is a handful of months older than PT, IIRC (IOW, she's about 26, almost 27 now). That actually bodes fairly well for Jana, who just turned 24. I bet she'll be courting sometime this year. If Jana can make it to 27 with just one kid like Prissy, hopefully she won't be overburdened with a zillion kids someday.

Maybe....its hard to tell with Duggars, as if one of them was intelligent, that would be beaten out of them as fundies like their kids to be dumb.

Jana is quite a quiet person, so I bet theres a lot about her we don't know.

Sometimes I think Jill is smarter than she comes across, cause shes the most independent of them and seems to enjoy her work. I think her natural love of the kool aid makes her come across as one of the least intelligent.

A week and a half ago, I attended a restaurant launch/tasting by a fundie-lite friend of mine, and there were plenty of fundies who loved to show off their biblical prowess. I quickly learned that I had way more biblical knowledge than them, the ex-fundie jezebel that I am. I was able to put on a good show with my SO, who was raised with regular Sunday school (conservative, not quite fundie lite). I read a lot of the bible when I went to college and was able to privately question my faith to really see what I was questioning.

I got a kick out of not telling the guests that I am agnostic atheist... They thought I was so devout and insightful. My SO also played the game. It's amazing how little these people actually know despite dedicating their entire lives to religion, however narrow the scope.

My friend and I never really discussed religion (she's a relatively new friend, since we only moved here six months ago). I just told her I wasn't practicing, and she was surprisingly neither judgmental nor desiring to convert me. Her fundie friends at the gathering, however, I could tell would be a different story.

The more you know of religion, the more you see what is wrong with it, in my opinion.

And this was all a game between God and Satan to see how faithful Job was. The farther I get from being religious the weirder all these stories seem, especially since I was taught that this literally happened.

I told a pastor once when he preached on the story of Job that clearly God allows Satan to tempt us. If he didn't, Satan wouldn't do it, God is more powerful, but yhis story brought me to that conclusion. The pastor told me "No Job was a special case."

On duggarsblog.blogspot there is another video with the Duggars at a Pro-Life Convention. They spout their usual spiel about Josie. They didn't have her with them, but the told the story of her birth yet again. Michelle uses that tone that sounds like she is about to cry (which is an obvious act). Josh also speaks, followed by his friend (exactly how he introduced him) Rick Santorum. There's some particularly ragey things said by Santorum, especially towards the end. JB and Michelle come on at about 3:05:04 followed by Josh and then Santorum if anyone is interested.

Some of the more rage-inducing parts:

-Michelle stating that there was a clinic down the street from the hospital where doctors were getting paid to kill babies even bigger than Josie was when she was born.

-JB urging all Christians to run for office to essentially take over.

- Josh's usual pontificating.

- Rick Santorum stating he knows life begins at conception.

- A woman in the audience who asked a question in which she imlied the Republican Party should have stood by Aiken and his statements. :angry-banghead:

-Santorum stating that Barak Obama voted in favor of infanticide (as in actual infanticide, he's not using that as another way to describe abortion)

It is a snark goldmine for anyone who is interested.

I think fundie God is an asshole. Killing people just to prove a point to Satan? God is supposed to be incorruptible, but he let Satan tempt him to kill. Hes no better than humanity, in fact, worse, cause the non psychopaths among us would never kill for a bet.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. 7 The Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?†Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.†8 The Lord said to Satan, “Have you [c]considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, [d]fearing God and turning away from evil.†9 Then Satan answered the [e]Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.†12 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your [f]power, only do not put forth your hand on him.†So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

It has been some time since I've read this story and I realized something, who are the sons of God? I guess he had more than one son. And, yes, God is a massive asshole in this. Satan is all, "He only likes you because you are nice to him." and God is " No way. Go have fun murdering his kids and servants and destroying his life and you will see how much he loves me."

Some one should tell Michelle that the Job's kid not only ate meals with each other, they were drinking "grape juice" when they were all crushed to death when the house collapsed.

Just saw this on duggars.tumblr.com

Anonymous asked: As some one on FreeJInger pointed out (I knowI hate them too but they always have juicy details) - John Replied to that Comment you posted awhile back and wrote this " Stay tuned to the show… Jessa and Ben celebrated Christmas in a very special way! You won’t want to miss it."

Wow I really want to see the new season now :)

Edit : does it mean I made it famous as a blog when freejinger talks about my blog :)

I think Jana will get married in the next few years - she's not as isolated as the popular perception here implies. She leads Journeys to the Heart, spends time at ATI HQ (which is a prime fundie courtship hunting ground) and goes on mission trips, with and without her parents. I'm sure she's been noticed, and with Jessa courting, young men know that the Duggar daughters are available, and that the suitor doesn't even have to be ATI.

That said, I think Jana will end up marrying into an ATI family. The young adults working for ATI aren't allowed to court til their service or education is complete - I don't know if Jana is under that condition as a JTTH leader, but it's highly possible that she's waiting on a young ATI man completing his headquarters time.

I think this is the most likely scenario at the moment.

I don't know if it's the most likely, but I think it's one of the more optimistic ones.

I really have a hard time seeing how any Duggar can consider Santorum a friend, considering the general antipathy fundamentalist Protestants usually have towards the Catholic Church. Santorum has never claimed to be anything other than a devout Catholic. I wonder if they are just using him for political gain or if they are praying that he converts.

Kelly commented about Santoram once, because people were posting on her blog asking how she and her family could support an ebil Catholic. She said she was assured that Santorum had been saved, by confessing his sins and accepting Jesus as his savior, and that his anti-reporductive rights, anti-gay marriage, anti-socialism values were evidence of a True Christian. That was more important, she said, than other matters of theology, though she did disagree with him.

So, I think that's how they get around it - he speaks their language of salvation and values.

Seems like before every season starts the Duggar blog starts posting much more frequently (though commenting is very low compared to the Bates blog). If they weren't trying so hard to gain viewers they could just come out and say whether Jessa is engaged and how she and Ben spent Christmas and share some details about what everyone else has been up to. How is Josiah doing at ALERT? Is Jennifer starting to read yet? What's Joseph doing besides his jurisdictions? I'd much rather see the kids having a new experience than read, yet again, about the family anti-abortion stance. I get the feeling it has become all about keeping the show on the air for the money and as a forum for their politics - that they have essentially become lobbyists.

The Duggar Family Blog isn't run by the Duggars, although they (or TLC) do leak to it sometimes. It's run by a mother and daughter fan team.

I bet if they are engaged, it'll be announced during the pre-season Today Show visit. Like every other family announcement. Will they go there to announce J'Chelle's menopause too? I bet Boob will find a way to make money off of that.

With Josh, I think his hero worship of Santorum stems from his desire to be like Santorum; he has a larger than average but still managable number of children, a real education, political power, and an identity that's completely separate from his parents. The closest Smuggar can get to a Santorum-type lifestyle is to be one of his hangers-on.

My prediction is that Josh will enjoy more political success than commonly thought. He is startlingly popular among mainstream conservatives - I can see him learning the right way to present himself whilst in Washington and going back to Arkansas and getting elected on a state level.
