TeaParty: File 'Class Action Lawsuit' Against Homosexuality

Tea Party Unity leader Rick Scarborough suggested Friday that conservative activists should take a page from campaigns against Big Tobacco and file a “class action lawsuit†against homosexuality.

The far-right pastor was responding to fellow tea partier and president of Americans for Truth Peter LaBarbera, who was arguing that Fox News should tell more "stories of happy men and women who have left the homosexual lifestyle" in the same way they highlight black conservatives.

Peter, the whole issue of a class action lawsuit, you and I have talked about this a little bit," Scarborough said. "I just wonder if you’ve explored that, talked to anyone about it. Obviously, statistically now even the Centers for Disease Control verifies that homosexuality much more likely leads to AIDS than smoking leads to cancer.

"And yet the entire nation has rejected smoking, billions of dollars are put into a trust fund to help cancer victims and the tobacco industry was held accountable for that," he added. "Any thoughts on that kind of an approach?"

"Yeah I think that’s great," LaBarbera responded. "I would love to see it. We always wanted to see one of the kid in high school who was counseled by the official school counselor to just be gay, then he comes down with HIV. But we never really got the client for that."

I'm sure they could somehow tie their frivolous (and offensive) lawsuit to the ACA. Their argument would go something like this: Homosexuality causes AIDs. Homos are required to purchase insurance under the ACA, and the insurance companies are required to cover their gay diseases . . . even the ones they spread were infected with prior to obtaining the insurance. It is expensive to treat the gay disease AIDs. Decent people are paying higher premiums for ObamaInsurance because the deviants are covered under the plans. Therefore, Homosexuality needs to pay (they want to sue homosexuality, not homosexuals) and ObamaCare must be repealed.

Also, how did they get from ex-gays to black conservatives?

Note: The disgusting language above is how I believe a Teabagger would frame their arguments. I support gay rights, have many gay friends, and do not share their opinions.

We always wanted to see one of the kid in high school who was counseled by the official school counselor to just be gay, then he comes down with HIV. "

I'm just....my god, how can people be so horrid??? Do they simply have no empathy, no compassion, no bare minimum of human kindness at all?

OTOH, I can totes see my fundy wackjob family saying something like that, so it shouldn't surprise me. It comes from fear of "the other" which really means massive insecurity about and discomfort with your own identity.

My school counselor couldn't even get me into college. I don't know how she could make me gay and come down with HIV.

I hate this asshole and the Tea Party. We're talking hatred with the fiery intensity of a million suns.

My guidance counselor wanted me to become a nun.

It sounds great to their followers except that it will never get past the judge. They have to get certified as a class, fill a lot of requirements, and it'll never work. Then they can propose doing away with the federal judiciary. Dummies.

They seem to ignore, as all of these arguments do, that lesbians are much less likely to get HIV than straight women.

But we all know that women have sex with each other just so a man can watch. Duh. that's porn, not sex.

How would you sue 'homosexuality'?

If they start bringing suits for being brown-eyed, over 50, or having curly hair, I'm in trouble.

So exactly how much money is homosexuality worth? If they win their lawsuit, will homosexuality's assets be frozen? You know, stuff like the fashion industry, Cher, and the city of San Francisco?

He's sounds like he wouldn't have a back door on his house, because he's so hetero. He should get a megaphone and stand in the of the Castro and scream, "My name is Rick Scarborough and I am a cockaholic."

Nah, he's talking tactics and forgetting that tactics are repulsive to normal people. Appealing to normal people -that's what speeches, adverts and teary-eyed TV appearances are for.

So how does this work? Are they going to sue San Francisco? Cher? GLAAD? Homeless LGBT youth? With Big Tobacco, there were actual companies who grew tobacco, made them into cigarettes, and sold them.based on what they're saying, anyone who tries to be supportive of LGBT people is an enabler and needs to be sued.

Or in my case, with a fervor bordering on abnormal pathology.

They'll get thrown out way before that. The Tea Party has no standing and there's no defendant: they want to sue homosexuality, just like other plaintiffs used the tobacco companies.

The logic just fell out their ear and rolled down their pants leg. Oops--sorry: there was no logic there to begin with.

Anyone have a link to the court docs? I want to see who the respondent/defendant is. I mean, seriously, if "homosexuality" is the respondent, that's going to get the case drop-kicked out of court for lack of someone to serve with a notice of suit.

I think what he's saying is that at his law firm they hope that some kid who was told to be gay by his counselor, and then later contracted HIV, would come in and want to sue the counselor. In his eyes this would be a good case to take to court, because the evil school counselor told the kid it was okay to be himself, which then obviously caused teh AIDS to appear. :penguin-no:

So in his world, if they were able to sue some school counselors it would scare all the other school counselors into not telling kids it's okay to be gay, and - hey presto! Problem solved! There wouldn't be any more gay people!

Not for nuthin' but NJ is having gay marriage now while the case is going thru the legal maze. I for one am very pleased to see so many people in my fine state rushing to get married. Incurable romantic that I am, in the long run, everyone benefits.

If it was possible file a class action lawsuit against a state of being, Americans would have filed one against stupidity when the Tea Party was first formed.

We always wanted to see one of the kid in high school who was counseled by the official school counselor to just be gay, then he comes down with HIV. But we never really got the client for that.

Gee, I wonder why...
