You are silly. At least I will die with a clean conscience that I didn't contribute to the worlds fetish for guns and paranoia.

That's fine. As for me, I like being able to defend myself and participate in a sporting activity/hobby that I enjoy. :D

Oh, and by the way: Have you ever been mugged or assaulted? I have been physically attacked and robbed. Unfortunately, many other people here have been molested in some form, too. Those of us who choose firearms for protection as a result of past experiences laugh at your "paranoia" accusation.

Why do you think I care if you like or respect me? I'm not that insecure.

What? Your being mean to me? I wasn't even mean to you. Jeez now I see why people are blocking you as will I

Blocking someone makes that person's posts invisible to you, correct?

You can see that the person posted, but not what they said. You have the option of showing any post. If someone else quotes the person, though, you will see it.

Did you shoot your attacker??? Guns are not the answer. Most women carrying a gun will have it taken away from them and used on them. That is a fact that the NRA won't tell you. Guns are the answer for the simple-minded, not the answer for society's problems.

And yes, I have successfully utilized weapons to defend myself from threats in the past. Isn't it dank and gloomy living under a bridge?

Wow! Where do you live? Do you inhabit the mean streets at night? Please tell me your stories in full detail and what the police reports say about your incidents.......... :o

My profile indicates my location, though I guess you didn't see that. I like being alive and safe, and have a right to use deadly force if my life is being threatened. Kindly deal with it. By all means, though, enjoy feeling morally superior for believing that women should be raped rather than using guns to keep themselves safe and alive. Take care, troll! :)

Well, aren't you quite the feminist! So sorry about your hoplophobia.

That is a great phobia to suffer from.

No-one is listening, Digger. (Not even me, 'cos I'm off to bed.) Go find someone to play with nicely, there's a good little pet.

I depend of my street smarts and I don't hang out in "dangerous" areas. Most people who carry guns will not be able to access them in time and will have them used against them. I wouldn't want to meet you on the street with your ready to shoot state of mind instead of using your God given brain. The NRA terrorists feed you all the stories of the successful self defense incidents but not the unsuccessful ones which are more numerous. Give up the gun and start using the brain.

I'm for responsible gun ownership where the law permits it (IMHO Switzerland has the best gun laws in the world) and to raise children proper gun safety is paramount, but 3 is a very young age to become a lifetime NRA member...

Santorum's use of a sick child to satisfy gun nuts is despicable. Bella should be a member of the Gund teddy bear society, not the NRA.

Is there really a Gund teddy bear society? I'm in!

I prefer groups like JPFO, Armed Women of America, and Pink Pistols to the NRA.

I hear you! In Detroit, you have to do whatever it takes to defend yourself and your property. The police sure aren't going to be there when you need them!

It's nice that you can CHOOSE to stay away from dangerous areas. Some people don't have that luxury.

Uh, whatever Digger. I lived in an unsafe (though hardly the worst in the area) neighborhood as a young woman and every single day my doorknob started jiggling, til one day my roommate left it unlocked and I greeted the guy trying to walk in with an AK-47. My doorknob never so much as hiccuped again.

Why did I own an assault rifle? Well, I was being stalked by a convicted child molester.

I say all this as a bleeding heart socialist. Sane and safe self-defense is not wrong.

As for your bullshit statistics about having your gun taken from you and used against you, please. Back it up with peer-reviewed studies, or if you like, come on over and try to take my husband's BB gun from me. That'll be interesting... but I'm gonna make you sign a waiver first.

I'd feel the same way if I lived in a gated community with a virtually nonexistent crime rate. Besides, shooting is a good skill to know even if one never intends to carry a firearm. I live just outside Detroit but do go to school in the city and have had my fair share of frightening encounters. The suburb I live in experiences quite a bit of street crime, as well as shootings - committed, of course, by those who obtained weapons illegally and who are not interested in gun safety. The three young men who robbed and assaulted me did so a few blocks from my home, but they were from the city. If Willie White runs for (and becomes) mayor of Detroit, though, I might move within city limits: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/2012 ... /203290389

My sister is like you. She and I can argue politics all day long but when it comes to the right to keep and bear arms, we're mostly on the same page.

Personally, I don't want to ever own a gun and I'd have a hard time considering raising a family with someone who keeps guns in the house. That being said, if someone is using it for hunting I can understand it. I just think that before you are given a gun or even allowed to be a member of the NRA you should have to pass some kind of gun safety test..... I dunno. Regardless, signing her up for that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. I don't understand why that's even allowed. Signing a three year old up for the NRA does go against their message of safety and all of that..... It's just weird.

ETA: I don't really know much about gun laws because I just have no interest in them so if something I've said is inaccurate, I'm sorry.
