Santorum winning.

The fact of the matter is that if Santorum does get the nomination, there's a very real chance he could be elected as president.

I never would have thought Bush would have been re-elected, but he was.

The scary part is people thinking Obama would be a shoo-in if Santorum is the GOP nominee, and then not turning out to vote.

I called my local democrats yest. and volunteered to work the election, today I'll call my old union (SEIU) and volunteer to do one on ones prior to the elections.

And if Noot pairs up with Santorum on a fusion ticket who will you vote for?

I'd still vote for Obama, I hate Newt almost as much as I do Santorum. This is assuming I understand what you mean by "fusion ticket", which I admit I know almost nothing about.

Yes. I'm sure most know this by now anyway, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. My town and my church don't tell me who to vote for.

I saw a clip on either foxnews or CNN, and it interviewed random people in AL/MS. Some of the Santorum suppoters were scary. These were not fundies, but no average joes hanging out at the coffee shop or range. They majority felt Obama was mulism, some talked badly about Obama's race, they wanted a family man(I find it so weird that a mormon Mitt is not considered a family man?), they liked that his wife didn't work and stayed home with the kids. If these are the people Santorum is proud to have as supporters, it is a sad day.

I saw some interviews on the 'net' and one couldn't ignore the racist component, and their ignorance of what Frothy really stands for. This is a man who wants to abolish federal funding for education. In the race to the bottom, MS and AL are the front runners. Yet these people think that their bankrupt states can fund education based on state and local money alone. WTF

Doncha know that whenever you see a conservative saying something dumb on youtube, it's actually a liberal plant set up to make the GOP look stupid? ;)

I'm so sick of these "federal guv'ment is baaaad" people. We shifted power from the states for a reason. I, for one, don't want to live in the United Counties of the South. What a hell hole that would be.

Seriously. Both of those states are in the top 10 for how much money they receive in federal aid for every dollar that they have "stolen" from them in taxes. If they actually got their wish and got the federal government out of their business, I don't think it would be the utopia they imagine.

If Newt does join the ticket, he has money this could very well happen. But do people really believe that Rick has the power to do all the stuff he claims? Presidents alone can't change laws just because they believe this or that doesn't mean its going to happen. Thank god! If he had his way women would lose total control over thier bodies.

I think people actually do believe that Santorum can do everything he says he will do.

Just as everyone who voted for Obama thought he'd do everything he said he was going to do.

We really dont learn, do we?

It's easy to sway people by their emotions...

If the unthinkable happens and Frothy ends up with the GOP nom, I don't think he'll put Newt as r.-mate. He'll need someone a tad more moderate (Romney?). Unless the GOP is now so endebted to the Tea Party and to Fundies that they disregard having a balanced ticket.

I honestly think the GOP is willing to go that unbalanced. I also agree with the other poster Obama promised to do alot he was unable to do. People are mad he didn't follow through but do they not realize that he alone can't do anything.

I personally think Obama is a horrible, horrible President.

dairyfreelife, can I ask why you think he's a horrible, horrible President? Seriously, I'm rather confused about why people dislike Obama so rabidly. I have never been able to ask anyone this question because they start screaming about socialism. If you'd prefer to PM me, that's fine. I'm just curious.

I can't speak for DFL but some people are disappointed because he seemed to promise the world and obviously couldn't follow through. I personally think he did the best he could with the opposition (GOP completely refusing to co-operate on anything) and situation (worst recession since the Great Depression) he had.

What I just don't understand is that according to CNN about 50% of the voters in MS and AL think that Romney is the GOP's best shot at defeating Obama and yet they don't vote for him. I don't understand if you think he has the best chance to get the Democrat out of the White House, why you vote for someone else.

This is getting nasty.. we got news a bit ago that our Dillards Dept store is closing now all my local fb friends and family have status about it and they all are saying Thanks to Obama we are losing this store and all these jobs are lost! :( huh! Also the Tea Party group is out actually going door to door begging everyone to vote Republican. Even the democrats , they just want Obama out they insist this single man is the cause of all our problems. My friends mom is one of them going door to door and the number one thing they are getting told is "If Rick Santorum is the GOP pick we WILL vote Obama" Every time this group is told this they then beg who-ever they are talking to just please NOT vote. She went to 22 houses today and heard the Santorum thing at least 14 times. Her own daughters have also told her they will vote Obama over Santorum they are arguing about it as we speak.

My hubby's an SEIU! And don't forget, CA isn't voting until friggin' JUNE 5th this cycle, so this is going to be a long slog for that goldmine of delegates.

I agree. I'm not happy with everything the administration has done either, and I think the Democrats should have pushed harder instead of trying to compromise. You cannot compromise with people who will not work with you. (The whole two-party system is a whole other issue that's not working out so well.)

I don't understand why everybody is making such a big deal about Frothy. Maybe I am not understanding the process? Most of the states he won are "non-binding" and in states that aren't, he barely got by with a "win" and they weren't in a "winner takes all" state.

Am I misunderstanding the situation? Is so, can somebody explain it to me?

Nothing to do with socialism. I think Bush was a terrible, awful president too. I don't know how Bush got in a 2nd time, how Obama became president or how Santorum is doing so well. That's all I will say because getting into a discussion on disliking how the current President is doing will just rise tempers and no one will win. I have many reasons why I think he's a horrible president. It's obvious you don't and that sort of shuts down conversation here. I don't want to argue over it. You won't change my mind and I won't be able to change yours. I'm a Moderate/Independent and don't side with either party. I didn't vote for Obama. I didn't get to vote in the last election because I missed the primary registration deadline. So it's nothing to do with voting for his empty promises and being disappointed. All presidents make those though. Look at Santorum, promising to overturn things like Roe v Wade and all that jazz. The one good thing I can think of about Obama is that he tried reform health care and we need that. Health insurance is a big corporate joke in this country imo and I'm sure many would agree. I've been in enough debates with my father to know that people convinced on their like/dislike of politicans are unlikely to be swayed. So, yeah, not going to get into a no-win and heated debate of likes and dislikes of the current President. I certainly think another term with Obama can compare to even with Santorum. I don't even what to think what he'd try or once he's in office he'd do nada to help this country in any way. I'd take Obama unhappily for a second term, but I'd feel better about Obama in than Santorum. Santorum makes me glad we aren't a monarchy. I

Rick Santorum won't win the nomination. While it looks like Ricky is stacking up states, Romney is snapping up the delegates because he has the infastructure to do so while Rick doesn't. And at this point, all that matters is getting the delegates. And unless Romney makes this horrible gafe or something awful comes out against him, Romney will continue to rack up the delegates and keep the ones he already has. In other words, he is doing the same thing that Obama was able to do in 2008 against Hilary Clinton. There was a piece showing this on Rachel Maddow tonight.

Welcome to primary system. The people who vote in the primaries represent a more extreme part of the population. Thus the candidates get more extreme and politics are more polarized.
