Until someone pointed that out to me, I thought it was a song about praying. I also thought ABBA wrote it (but that's because it sounds like an ABBA song-musically speaking). But I'm probably one of those naive people....

I mean, c'mon, if it's a communication with God, it's a prayer, not "like" a prayer.

If one wants, one could compare it to Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes." Gabriel has talked about some African tradition where song lyrics are written in such a way that a song can be viewed as equally a love song to a human partner and a hymn to a deity, and that's the effect he was striving for with "In Your Eyes." Of course, "Like a Prayer" was Madonna in the 80s, so my cynical analysis makes me think that the purpose of the religious imagery was to be edgy and controversial and gather publicity.

Likewise, while the idea that the show was a Satanic ritual is hilarious, crazy-blogger-is-crazy is spot on when he or she writes about the ending, when Madonna sinks into the stage and then her voice is heard singing the word "home." I was living in the deep south when the song came out, and the controversy was not only the religious imagery, but that the object of her affections in the music video was of African descent. Okay, what he's saying about the halftime show is that it's all a deliberate Satanic ritual, with the elements carefully planned out in advance. But with this part he's saying that the winner means something, so is he saying something along the lines of like, God made the Giants win to warn the nation, or is he saying that it was all a sham and the Patriots threw the game because that's how the secret societies that rule the world roll. They like to plot out conspiracies that depend on the cooperation and silence of literally thousands of people just to drop hints about their terribly secret plans.

And does this mean that the Giants are evil, and that God favors the Patriots, because I can't get behind this. Everyone knows that God resides behind the Steel Curtain.

Either way, I would like to read his symbolic analysis of Superbowls of the past. What did it symbolize when the Saints beat the Colts? When the Steelers beat the Cardinals? The Chiefs beat the Vikings?

I love the song "Like a Prayer" and I refuse to apologize. I love Cee-lo also, so that was the highlight of the whole thing.
