Non-Duggar Josiah has a porn problem

I actually feel kind of sorry for him because this is perfectly natural at his age and most likely his "porn" is lusting after one of Miss Raquel's more sexy pics of herself. And he feels like he can't even go out in public because he is ashamed of this

I must write and speak that as I say these things, I am far from innocent. Lust and pornography have sadly been a part of my existence on this earth, in this flesh, and they eat at me. They deteriorate me. I feel more weakened when I write here, only to turn to a sin so repulsive, I should be ashamed to even show my face in public as a Christian. You may keep this in mind when I write of darkness and sadness more than usual, and you may be sure it is a drawback in my spiritual life due to an increased invigoration of my lust.

But, he is turning to the sex-obsessed Mark Driscoll for help. He is correct that sex sells, and the only reason MD is popular is that he puts all of his focus on sex. Plus he encourages men to treat their wives like crap and demand sex all the time no matter how the woman feels. The domineering men like to hear that message, that women don't matter, only sex.

Good grief I hope no one marries him. The only thing more miserable than being him would be having to cohabitate with him. Maybe being an admitted consumer of porn will disqualify him from being gifted with a brainwashed SAHD to terrorize.

What did the old testament laws have to say about porn? Since he was all keen on stoning the gays, wonder what should happen to him.

Nothing whatsoever. Porn as private wank material appears to be an artifact of printing technology. It's arguable that wanking to porn as a primary leisure activity constitutes the sin of lust, that ignoring one's spouse in favor of consuming porn is a form of fornication, and that consuming porn made using live actors who did not consent or did not see any alternative to consenting is covered under cruelty and oppression.

I think this poor dumb hothouse kid just doesn't understand that arousal is a near-constant irritation for many people around his age because, you know, puberty. Heck, the vibration of a bus one happens to be riding in can set it off, never mind happening to get a hot nut over a Victoria's Secret ad in a mall or whatever he is calling a porn problem. He's what, sixteen? Or does he just seem a lot younger?

Oh no, precious Josiah is not saved! We must all gather in a circle and pray for him! Don't despair, help is on the way! We will bring out the demons! :violence-stickwhack:

Not so! Porn has been around since people could make marks on cave walls. The Greek and the Romans used pots, every society used whatever was handy. Paper just makes things easier to transmit. During the Victorian Era lots of artifacts were classified as fertility or religious objects when they shouldn't have been, but porn has history.

(My favorite class from undergrad was on the history/usage/historical treatment of porn. Everyone wanted to borrow the readings and films from the class, you know for "educational" purposes.)

I wonder if Miss Raquel knows that pics of schoolgirls in knee high socks are considered "sexy" and highly associated with/suggestive of pornography. And her sidebar picture? With rings on each finger and the sultry one-eyed "come hither and bed me" look? Seems hypocritical given Miss Raquel's opinion on purity and not defrauding men and boys.

Josiah, maybe you need to separate from Miss Raquel and her blog-spot so you won't see those suggestive pictures. ;) Or you could accept the fact that you're probably just going through normal hormonal changes and drives and stop trying to make it a bigger deal than it is.

Edited to break link.

Josiah - you need to discuss your porn problem with Miss Racquel. She loves to help and answers her emails several times a day....

I am pretty sure Miss Raquel's willingness to help other ends at the point she has to stop posting defrauding pictures of herself.

Any sympathy I felt for him went out the window when he posted this:

So I hope to have highlighted the old-fashioned ideas of gender-equality, something in which the men and women knew who they were, and felt confident in their responsibilities. Maybe there was never such a perfect age, but we were far closer to it only one-hundred years ago. Perhaps it will not take more than that for the shift to come back around. We can only pray.

He needs to stop buying into the Vision Forum's version of history and realize that 100 years ago women and small children were working in factories in dangerous situations. Men could beat their wives and children and they had no real way of leaving or getting help. Women didn't feel "confident" in their repressed "responsibilities". That is why they fought for change. If things were so wonderful there would have been no need for the Women's rights movement. But I have to remind myself that this guy defends slavery, so it isn't like you can talk any sort of sense to him.

Acknowledging sin is a step in the right direction. I too, had some struggles in this area. Through patience, I was able to get a strong grip on the situation. He should think long and hard about this slippery addiction. Maybe he could find a quiet place & pray to rub out the sin of lust in his life. Another strategy to control thrusting thoughts is to keep your mind occupied with songs & spiritual hymns.

(not responsible if anyone gets this song stuck in their head)

Even though Josiah doesn't have the nerve to post here since his arguments were torn to shreds the time he did come, I'm sure he lurks here, so here are some links to show you what life was really like for women 100 years ago. It was no golden age or even close to it. It was hell on earth for many women.

http://polarbearstale.blogspot.com/2011 ... -city.html

And that isn't even all the links of small children working in horrible conditions. Both male and female children were abused in factories. I think you need to pick a different time to show how awesome things were when women "stayed in their place."

They don't see them selves as part of the working poor when they imagine the good old days, they see themselves as wealthy enough to have wives and daughters that didn't have to work. I do wonder what the would find if they look back in their family trees. My great grandfather didn't want to be married anymore so he dumped his kids (my grandma included ) in an orphanage and had my great grandmother committed to an asylum and high tailed it out west. Such great family values.

Bolded mine. This is so true. I remember Kelly Crawford's daughter Bria posting about how Victorian Times were so great and the clothes so lovely. They are completely oblivious to the realities that they wouldn't be wearing such "lovely" things. Most people couldn't afford such "modest" wear at all. They handmade their stuff from scratch. 100 years ago my ancestors were of the working poor. I have heard their stories and they are anything but "lovely" for anyone, men or women. Both worked their asses off to survive and some didn't and their children died before adulthood from things cureable for the most part today.

I don't even understand what "men and women knew who they were and felt confident in their responsibilities" really means. I don't know about the rest of you folks, but I am pretty sure of who I am and am pretty confident in the responsibilities I have. If he meant that back then women stayed at home and did nothing but raise babies and clean house, he is very, very wrong. Women worked outside the home to support the family back then, except at that time they had no rights and usually they had the children working to.

I wonder if Miss Raquel knows that pics of schoolgirls in knee high socks are considered "sexy" and highly associated with/suggestive of pornography. Strange that just five days after poor Josiah Woltersdorf's tormented confession about porn and lust, she put that picture on her site. It had nothing to do with the topic she was writing about. And her sidebar picture? With rings on each finger and the sultry one-eyed "come hither and bed me" look? Seems hypocritical given Miss Raquel's opinion on purity and not defrauding men and boys.

I don't think she knows about that. She is kind of dumb about certain things. To quote Santana Lopez from Glee, Miss Raquel's schoolgirl can sometimes be viewed as a "fantasy of a perverted Japanese business man with a very dark specific fetish"

I believe that he's 19.

At 19 he's worried about a "porn problem"? Dude... 19 is nothing. You are a growing boy who has a penis... we all get that way. Thinking about sex and wanking doesn't make you a porn addict. Look at pictures doesn't make you a porn addict. Thinking things in your head doesn't make you a porn addict. You are 19.. you have urges.. you are satisfying your urges in an acceptable manner... cut yourself some slack. If porn was taking up 90% of your day, keeping you from functioning, making you wanna go out and rape women to achieve those desires.. that's a problem. A 19 yr old who wanks is not.

I think a lot of fundies tend over romancitize past eras. I remember Bria's comments. I remember Gil Bates saying on Primetime that in past eras larger families were poorer but were happy. I rolled my eyes at that comment because my grandmother and other older people have said that being a large poor family during the depression was miserable at times.

Porn is fine at his age. As long as it isn't Happy Potter porn (DO NOT GOOGLE). That stuff is freaking disturbing.
