A real president puts the good of the people over politics. He's not dragging his feet, whining that FL didn't vote for him, so they don't deserve federal assistance in a crisis.

If Pres. Biden did not mention that DeSantis seems to have changed his mind about socialism now that Florida needs it, he is a better man than I am.

(not that I think federal aid is not warranted - it is, and the people of Florida deserve it and are entitled to it.  But it is the height of hypocrisy to whine about socialism and socialists, unless of course it is YOU who needs help.)

No, Dark Brandon is not planning to limit Americans to two beers a week...

Quote

The White House made clear to beer drinkers Friday that President Joe Biden does not support new U.S. guidelines to limit their weekly consumption.

Conservative media outlets and Republican lawmakers this week seized on comments from George Koob, director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, to accuse the Biden administration of considering the same alcohol and health guidelines as Canada, which advises no more than two alcoholic drinks per week.

"This claim is absolutely false," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Friday in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, singling out a story from the Daily Mail that claims in a headline, "US alcohol guidelines could be slashed to just TWO DRINKS PER WEEK."

At a White House press briefing earlier this week, a reporter asked Jean-Pierre whether Biden wants to limit Americans to two beers a week.

Yes, it would be good for many Americans to evaluate how much alcohol we are consuming. (Especially if it's mass produced crap like Bud, Coors, Old Milwaukee, Cult 45, or so on).  And even with how God awful substance abuse is for the people suffering from it and their families don't commit political suicide with blanket stuff like these guidelines.  Work to get people suffering from it the help they need.  Don't give Republicans ammo by having Biden announce Americans can only have a couple beers a week even if it's just Natural Ice.

I hope to hell Dark Brandon gets the message out there while Americans should always be mindful of alcohol consumption he's not going force Americans to only drink two beers a week.

The stupid thing with this conspiracy theory is, is that even if there were such an idiotic edict, there is no practical way of enforcing it. How would that even work? Install cameras in every house, in every room, in all public places, and even outside? What about nature reserves, along the highways, in cars, trucks, airplanes... I could go on, but you get my drift. And even if that were somehow possible, who could even watch and analyze all those images? How would you know who's who? It's all so stupid and dumb. :pb_rollseyes:

The President said during a speech that Branch Trumpvidism is a serious threat to democracy

Quote

President Joe Biden issued blunt new warnings about ongoing existential threats to US democracy in a major address Thursday, sharpening the central argument in his potential rematch with Donald Trump and asking voters to prioritize the health of American institutions.

“There’s something dangerous happening in America now,” Biden said during his speech in Arizona, where he was also honoring his friend, the late Republican Sen. John McCain. “There’s an extremist movement that does not share the basic beliefs of our democracy: The MAGA movement.”

“There’s no question that today’s Republican Party is driven and intimidated by MAGA Republican extremists,” he said, using the acronym for Trump’s political movement. “Their extreme agenda, if carried out, would fundamentally alter the institutions of American democracy as we know it.”

The stark message was Biden’s most forceful attempt at calling out Trump’s antidemocratic behavior since the former president was criminally charged for his attempts to subvert the 2020 election results. It offered a taste of Biden’s forthcoming reelection message, one centered on Trump’s own words and actions as threats to democracy. Biden said his predecessor was guided not by the Constitution or decency, but by “vengeance and vindictiveness.”

I think he's right.  Fornicate face has never been guided by any sense of decency or working towards the common good.  Then again, so are Republicans on the whole.  The orange fornicate is merely the latest symptom of the sickness that has gripped our country for decades now.

I like that Biden went to Arizona to help dedicate a library to John McCain.  I also appreciate that he used the opportunity to talk about how Trump was dismissive of our military.  It needed to be said and I'm glad that he's starting to go on the attack.
