As much as I loathe Dershowitz, watching him rain down some hard truth on that horrible spreader of lies was just what I needed today.  He systematically took down the "but mah freeee-dumms!" argument piece by piece and when she couldn't come up with a response to his "your rights don't allow you to put me at risk" and calling her out her attempt to outright lie, she had to end it before he made her look even worse.  Unfortunately the Fox News idiots won't get it.

Is Vance suggesting Buttigieg and his husband have... a child? (clutches pearls super tight)

According to an article in The Washington Post this week, Pete and Chasten are going through the process to adopt a child. I’m sorry, I can’t link the article using my phone.

@Cartmann99, I don't know if you've read Vance's book but my opinion after reading it was that he was a full-on asshole.  I grew up in the Appalachian region and I don't know anyone who would have written about his family like that.  Most people were private and proud.  They wouldn't have painted their family members as being so stereotypical and trashy.  Sure, there is poverty and there are drug problems.  But Vance was just milking it and riding the current political wave.  I struggled to finish the book -- that's how much I disliked it.  Personal opinion:  If anything, the movie was worse.  I hope he goes down in flames.

Maybe she should down two boxes every time, because it makes her tell the truth for once. Yes, Janine, people are indeed being mandated to wear a mask because you told them to refuse the vaccine.

I just don’t get it. Seriously, I don’t. Why is Fox allowing this deadly drivel to air? Why are they pushing this narrative, knowing it kills people? The very people who choose to watch them, their own viewers? It can’t be to ‘own the libs’,  because the libs aren’t suffering on hospital ventilators or dying because of these lies. They are (mostly) vaccinated and protected from the worst ravages of Covid.

So what’s behind it? Who stands to gain, if it’s not Fox itself? How do the Murdoch’s gain from this? I’m at a loss to find a rationale behind helping to continue the pandemic…

That's what I don't get. Not just from Fox but from the Republican politicans. The only ones who are listening to and believing them are their own viewers and their own voters. Their the ones who are going to die.  Why? Isn't their viewer ship going to go down then? Less people to vote for the Republicans? It makes no sense.

For some of the Republicans I can understand why they're doing it. They themselves are so dumb -- like asking the Forrest Service to change the Earth's axis to combat climate change or space lasers causing fires in California-- that they probably actually believe the shite their peddling. But the rest, the ones with at least an ounce of intelligence and with good educations? What do they get out of it, except an ever-shrinking base?

I think it's a case of having a tiger by the tail.  If they let go, the tiger eats them.  To change metaphors -- they created this mob of winged monkeys and set them loose.  If Fox and the Republicans try to change the narrative now, the mob goes after them.  We've seen what the mob has done to anyone who said anything against Trump.

I really thought Murdoch's sons would try to talk him into veering Fox in a different direction but I guess I was wrong.  They'll keep this up until it's no longer profitable and then either change or sell.  Maybe they're just terrified of their winged monkeys too.

They could just drop the subject altogether and gradually start talking about something else -- something less dangerous. It's not like their audience is the most discerning type of people. They just want red meat to consume, so why not simply switch to something less detrimental to their own audience?

Good point. They could merely switch to another conspiracy-type topic and leave the Covid story alone.  I agree.  It's confusing. Maybe some of their "talent", like Tucker, just won't let it go??  I know he's lost advertisers but he's still the one that pulls in the biggest audience so they can't quite fire him.

I agree - there are plenty of other things to be outraged about, why not just focus on those?

Halloween is coming up, and then Christmas. Surely a toy company will make something for them to be furious about. The former guy will keep having rallies. There are tons of other stupid things they can get people all crazy about that won't kill them. It won't save them, either, but without the constant anti-vax stream coming into their brains daily they might be more likely to take the vaccine if it's offered at a regular doctor appointment or something.

I believe there are some people who will not believe the "mainstream media" about the vaccine being safe. They won't believe the statistics, they don't trust the government (any of them, I guess?), they don't believe scientists, and they will not listen to people offering them facts and trying to convince them. But, if they spent a month or two NOT hearing ridiculous conspiracy theories and lies about the vaccine, AND their regular doctor who they know and trust suggests it... they might say "ok" and take it. They might ask their doctor questions and trust the answers they get. But the crazy lies they hear on Fox might make them second-guess that. If they didn't hear those all the time, they might be less closed-minded to the truth.

I have a co-worker who "doesn't trust the government" and won't get the vaccine. "What happens in two years? No one knows if it's safe!"

My response was "well, I'll at least be around in two years to find out."

MIght I also mention this guy is a pack-a-day-or-more smoker? And he rides a motorcycle? He's willing to put known cancer-causing poison into his body several times a day and risk death on the highway, but won't take any vaccines, even long-proven ones that have been safely used for many years. Absolute madness.

Two highly inappropriate and possibly controversial thoughts:

1. I wouldn't be too surprised if the Native Americans agreed with you, that all immigrants since the 1600s are a menace and should have been sent back to their countries immediately.

2. And which ethnicity is the last name Carlson? Perhaps you should go back to your original country of heritage, Tucker since you are so opposed to immigration. Apologies to my British friends (I'm guessing) for imposing Tucker on you.

I suspect it's an Anglicisation of Karlsson, and it's probably wrong but I am dying laughing imagining his reaction to being deported to and living in Sweden. Socialists! Everywhere!!
