Anna is going to clown school, I mean SOLD school. Wtf is SOLD school?
when I went away to college my first semester I was not able to work. I knew this before hand so I saved my money. I didn’t ask for donations.

It’s how all the Johnstons were raised. Charity also asked for donations when she went off to travel around play acting for Jesus. TAM constantly asks for donations. They are all professional grifters.

So SOLD School stands for School of Living Disciples... School. Their website is all inscrutable Christanese, but it sounds like the "students" live with families in the Orlando area and spend their days street preaching.

And of course they will wear masks and socially distance. I kid, I kid.

Let me understand this -- Anna, in the midst of a pandemic, is going to a strange city -- in Florida -- to live with a strange family -- in Florida -- and street preach.  And  Said strange family is going to house a strange person (Anna) who will be out all day street preaching.

Does anyone else think this is truly insanely nuts in this time of COVID.

Most fundies live in fucking la la land. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, they think Jesus is their face mask. They literally think they can pray the covid away. They are delusional.

So I read all about the school on the site. They only provide two meals a day, breakfast and lunch, A few day’s a week. You have to provide for your self the rest of the time. You also have to fast and pray. Website says you have to fast a lot and spend a lot of quite time seeking god. Sounds like a punishment school to me.

This sounds so ripe for exploitation and abuse I don't even like to think about it.

It sounds like a really low rent retreat. Most spiritual retreats provide meals as part of the cost, have defined time periods when fasting (and everything else) will be taking place, and build in some group relaxation/reflection time. To be honest this sounds like Join-A-Cult 101 to me.

At the risk of appearing to beat a dead horse , and getting on some people's nerves , this criteria agrees with the proposition that the SOLD School constitutes a cult , i.e. a high control group exercising undue influence .

Quote

Regulate diet – food and drink, hunger and/or fasting , Restrict leisure, entertainment, vacation time , Major time spent with group indoctrination and rituals and/or self indoctrination including the Internet

https://freedomofmind.com/bite-model/  All of this falls under behavior control .  So according to the subjective , definitive opinion of the BITE model , I would concur that it's a cult .

ive only used zoom once and I didn’t see porn. I will be using it twice a week for school this year so maybe I’ll see something ?‍♀️.

im not sure what netflix show she is talking about. Can anyone enlighten me?

im on snap chat and it hasn’t shown me how to sext.

safe anal sex should be taught in school. Same with safe sex of any kind. Teenagers are having sex. Teaching abstinence only doesn’t work. Want to help lower the rate of abortion? Proper sex education helps. Parents have fallen short on sex education. I know a few people who grew up being told to save themselves for marriage and ended up pregnant. I am not saying that all people won’t get pregnant if they have comprehensive sex education it will just lower the number.

No, this isn’t a super common thing on Zoom.

The show she’s talking about is Cuties. I read that it’s about young teens trying to figure out who they are and they end up in a group of dancers that are dancing in adult ways. But I don’t think the movie is glamorizing it. I think it’s more of a coming of age type of thing.

Several years ago, when a study was published saying that kids who are given comprehensive sex ed tend to postpone their first time, the abstinence-only crowd said, “We would only consider it a success if they waited until marriage.”

But when another study came out showing that kids in abstinence-only classes generally have premarital sex anyway, they were like “But at least they’re delaying it somewhat!” :pb_rollseyes:

If you look at stats, teens in general are waiting longer to have sex for the first time. My guess is because of comprehensive sex Ed. But I think the internet is likely part of it as well. I think info is just out there now. And kids know more about safe sex, birth control, and sex in general.

A friend of mine is a Sunday school teacher. Her three kids have all reached the safe haven of responsible adulthood. She told me once that when they were adolescents she made sure there was always an extensive supply of condoms available. I imagine she did expect to be informed if anyone had someone sleeping over, so she wouldn't interrupt anything better kept private.

I have boys, but even if I had girls, I would give my kids condoms. They are still little, but they will always have access to condoms 10 years from now. With online shopping, it’s not even embarrassing to buy condoms anymore. But I’ll still buy them for them.

The film actually tries to expose the dangers of and critique sexualizing children, especially children of color. The director was herself sexualized from a very young age onwards.
The way Netflix advertised the show definitely painted a completely different picture, and they have apologized for that (too little too late).

It’s under Elizabeth Johnston now. Not TheActivist Mommy. She rebranded. Likely because it’s a stupid name and she’s now a divorced single mommy of 10. So just going by her name sounds more professional.

Morons who don't know that words have generally accepted meanings. Like, say, Church being a place where you go to worship an omnipotent, onmipresent, omniscient being. Not a gold-plated toilet where you go to worship an impotent, nulliscient being, whose omnipresence comes from tweeting at 3 am on said gold-plated toilet.

The entire Trump clan is thick as a very short plank. I despise the lot of them, Tiffany "I was nearly aborted by my pro-life father" Trump included now. Let's hope that when Barron comes of age, he actually does "drain the swamp". He gets a pass for a few more years, though.

Ah yes, the party of (white evangelical) church, (low-wage, at-will, no safety measures) work, and (underfunded and privatized) school. Not the party of rioting (unless white people want to bust into a state capitol with long guns).

I will do the same for my teen boys.

My mother marched my 15-year-old horny butt to the GYN for birth control the MINUTE I had a date, and she bought me condoms (which, I can honestly say, were not used for some time. Teens don't automatically start having sex when given access to birth control, contrary to what fundies think).

I honestly see condoms like any other health supplies you might find in your bathroom cabinet. I provide my kids with bandaids and antibacterial ointment do their cuts and scrapes don’t get infected. Why wouldn’t I also provide them with condoms that help prevent sexually transmitted infections? I’m sure my parents would disagree. But they are prudish.
