Regarding Lauren's mom's comment, she didn't say "day," she said "it's the second-most important decision you'll make." The most important decision to her is being a Christian, the second most is deciding who to marry.

Ordinarily, I would assume that anyone saying getting married is the second most important decision would be referring to the decision to have kids as the first most important, but then I remembered that having kids is up to God and not actually a decision :my_dodgy:

The dress is fine, and Michelle looks pretty good, too. I just don't think they look good together.

I just watched the wedding.

Josiah seemed happy to be getting married and Josiah definitely has matured a lot. He also seemed to be extra serious(For Josiah) because he was taking his wedding seriously. That's something you should take seriously. They both seemed much happier then they did in the pictures/other videos. I didn't sense anything off about either of them other then the standard 'this is a messed up cult' stuff.

Not a fan of the bridesmaids dresses but they weren't bad. Loved Lauren's dress now that we got a better look at it.

Michelle looked crazy. I don't personally like wearing bell sleeves but it wasn't necessarily a terrible dress. Michelle isn't a bad looking lady. Just wasn't the right dress for her.

Seemed to be a rather large wedding. Was it bigger then Joe and Kendra's?

hmm I'm think Joken's wedding might have been bigger. I believe she had most of the Duggar sisters plus her own sisters. well the only Dugg sisters in Siran's wedding seemed to be Jana and Joy with Kendra thrown in. I think Jostin's might have been the biggest though. she had a ton of bridesmaids.

as for the dresses they are nice until you remember that Jana and Anna slaved away to make them.  thinking of it now I wonder if they made Lana and Michelle's dresses too

WOW!
I was impressed with Josiah's and Lauren's first kiss! I can see sexual chemistry coming from Josiah. He might be naturally gifted! [The kiss reminded me of Jessa and Ben's steamy kiss, which they posted on instragram shortly after their wedding. That picture got so much attention, that JB/Michelle and Jill/Derick tried to re-create their photo].

And I heard Lauren sigh during the kiss (was it a moan?? I think it was a sigh).

Also, I was surprised when her vows included that she will be his lover.

I was glad to see John David and Abby sitting in the audience. I can't wait until they get married.

I thought that Josiah was uncomfortable with his emotions, he seemed in the talking head with the weird noise to be like "damn I love this girl so much OH SHIT TOO MUCH" and he makes the noise. I hope he's just uncomfortable with them on camera, but I guess we'll never know.

*I know his internal dialogue probably includes less profanity

Has anybody put this wedding on YouTube yet? I want to weigh in.

As usual, everything that will be in the upcoming season of CO is such old news, especially since they put short versions of major life event episodes online in advance.

Ok, I just watched it and it made me so sad. John David and Abbie had a million times more chemistry in a single look than Josiah and Lauren did their whole wedding. I agree that Josiah really seemed to be detached from the whole event. Lauren seems to be overcompensating by being the most bestest fundie bride ever, keeping it sweet and saying how much she loves him and adores him and whatnot. I think she believes it. The difference between the two of them is just sad.

Josiah had more emotion and passion over that first kiss than he did over getting married.

I'm starting to think that since we haven't heard where Siren honeymooned that TLC may not have taped it. this would only be the second Duggar couple not to air their Honeymoon. the first being Jill and Derick.

:pb_lol: at JB looking slightly disgruntled having to walk down the aisle solo, behind Josiah escorting both mothers.

Sweat & t-zone shine are normal and nothing to be weird about, so no shade being thrown here but watching the wedding made me wonder- did no one producing this TV show where they were going to shining bright lights on a guy wearing a suit in summer think to slap a little translucent powder on him, or do fundie boys just refuse anything that could be perceived as makeup? I've thought this to myself about the groom in just about every Duggar wedding so far. I wonder if it's even being offered to them?

@justoneoftwo I did think people had lost their damn minds!  It's interesting, the photo was there, but because the convo was about the bell shelves/bo peep dress, my head was still in that mode.  Serves me right for skim-reading too fast - thanks everyone for sorting that out for me!

ETA It's fascinating how little we know about their post-marriage life - not where they're honeymooning, not where they'll live.  It's so odd that everything was shared about Joy, who was clearly not into being on TV, but had to be public, but Josiah, who seemed to love being the centre of attention, gets radio silence.  I really hope it's all Josiah's choice to stay low-key, and it's just that he's changed, but I do wonder about JB's tactics.

(It'll make the ongoing Duggar brand hard to sell if the idea is that the young men aren't interesting, as they've only got Jana and all those Lost Boys to be marriage material after this year...)

For the FJ's (including myself) who aren't from the US - here's a link to the wedding episodes on Youtube. (Not my channel).

I like that they didn’t include each and every Duggar sister in their wedding party. I can definitely see Joy and Kendra being chosen. They are a similar age to Lauren and I think Joy would be Josiah’s favourite sister. I imagine Lauren got to know Jana well on the family trip to Australia and New Zealand. Nice to see some of the middle boys featured as groomsmen. Wonder what they are up to?

After (finally) watching it myself, I know the world is anxiously awaiting for my thoughts, so here they are:

Laurens dress is really in my own taste! It would't work for me - I'm more the Michelle body type - but looked good on her. But she needs to learn how to breathe and talk.

Her father seemed genuinely touched. Perhaps the most emotional of them all.

...and yeah, they will definitely have a kid before next summer.

Okay, I’m going to be the one to say it: a big part of why Michelle always looks so horribly dressed is because she has a ginormous rack, and (speaking from experience) that makes dressing in a manner that balances modesty, formal settings, and flattering appearance almost impossible. Many dresses that would look perfectly modest on other women become downright Nike! when they can barely contain a large bosom, and though sizing up is an option (and one I think she may have taken with this dress), that just leaves the rest of the body looking drowned out by excess fabric that creates an overall shapeless and frumpy effect.

Even going back to the Tin Man monstrosity (which may be the most fitted and formal dress we’ve ever seen her wear), the shiny fabric coupled with the original neckline basically turned her boobs into two giant projectile missiles that not even the ridiculous dickey/turtleneck she wore underneath it could disguise. I think the best overall MoB/G dress she had was the navy one she wore to...Joy’s, I think (might have been Joe’s, since they’re all starting to blend together in my head). It covered her up enough to satisfy her crazy strict modesty standards, was a classic silhouette that flattered her shape, but it was also the simplest one she’s yet worn, and I want to say some peope criticized it for not being “dressy” enough, which kind of proves my point. With boobs above a certain size, you can have flattering, you can have modest, and you can have situationally appropriate, but it’s damn hard to find all three in a single garment.

For example: this dress, which I bought in February. Viewed on the rack or on the model in the picture from the store’s website, it looks almost Duggar-approved (all it would need is some sort of sleeve, I think), due to the high neck and slightly below knee length. On me....not so much. :pb_lol:

Jill and Derick's honeymoon wasn't filmed because TLC did the international trip with them already. When Jill flew to Nepal to meet Derick. Hence why everyone else (besides Josh) got super fancy honeymoons! Not sure about Siren.

Maybe TLC taped the part where Lauren went to New Zealand and Australia with the Duggars so Si and Lauren also won't get a fancy honeymoon.

Wasn't that before they started courting?

Maybe... but I thought that was IBLP related.

If I'm remembering the time line they started to court before they headed out and announced it well they were on the trip. I remember they were on the trip but the announcement video was clearly at a Duggar house.

Dressing for your body type is SO important.  Big boobs just really make it hard. She has skinny legs (and for that I’m jealous), but the ridiculous modesty standards coupled with light pink unbroken fabric draw the eye straight there.

You’re correct. That said, I highly doubt they filmed that trip because:

1) It was IBLP related and

2) The show is supposed to be focused mainly on the married adults, none of whom went on the trip.

Just saw the ceremony part online. Things definitely seemed "off" between Josiah and Lauren. Once at the altar they spent more time looking at her Dad, their officiant than they did each other. Instead of infusing their vows with emotion and meaning they seemed to constantly be looking at Dwayne as if to ask, "Did I do that right?"

Maybe Lauren simply goes through life a bit more calmly than most, but I did find it a touch odd that a 19-year-old virgin bride wasn't remotely nervous or even visibly excited about getting married.

May the FSM preserve us from Lauren's wispy baby voice! I also noticed Lauren looked a lot like Anna on her wedding day. Part of it no doubt was the t-shirt crew collar dress and the fact she chose to wear her hair long with stringy ringlets framing her face. Lauren is a lovely girl, it is a shame she didn't have an elegant up-do for her wedding or at least a good trim prior to deal with those split ends.  Her hair was long and thick but the style made it look stringy and unpolished. Her manicure was perfect.

Overall the whole wedding struck me as two actors reading through lines who had little on stage chemistry. Since the guy I am into these days is an actor I have been learning a bit more about stagecraft and how professionals make it look like there is emotion and intimacy between actors who are just doing their jobs and playing roles rather than actually into each other. Watching him play a romantic lead on stage vs. how his face lit up when he met me in the lobby after the performance, the difference was night and day even with a veteran actor.

Some of my misgivings about this Duggar wedding were because it reminded me of Charles and Diana back in 1981. I remember the commentators saying things like, "Now he (Charles) should be whispering in her ear," except by and large he wasn't. This ceremony seemed to have a similar emptiness to it. Plenty of pomp but little emotion.

I agree with other posters, John David seemed utterly besotted and downright tender in how he looked at Abbie. She seemed oblivious to it, focusing on the ceremony but I have never seen John David look so happy or relaxed.

The emotionless faces were so weird, and I know people look different when nervous (myself included) but it was also the gestures, the tone of voice, the mechanical touches that made everyone seem a bit dead in the eyes. Like another poster mentioned, the siblings descriptions comment on how he “was the prankster” “was” all these qualities until he met her then he matured...or to normal people, stopped having a personality for a young man in his 20s?! They really seemed to be going through the motions. Then again, I really didn’t know true love and appropriate emotions in a relationship when I was 19 LOL Lauren’s voice and actions to me seemed very 13 year old boy crush.. which is probably about where her maturity from being raised in that environment may be
