I agree. I think the only way they change their mind on anything is when it smacks them in the face. Like it happened to one of their family members or very close friends.

Michael has always been an abusive asswipe but I know a couple of people whose whole personality has changed post stroke, and I wonder if Debi is finding this “season of life” challenging to the identity she built up, or if the questioning/mild-not-really-retraction is related to one of her children leaving an abusive relationship. 
 

I also suspect marital rape through coercion, expectation & pressure do not fit in her definition of “sexual violence” and she is talking instead about men who are into spanking/choking during sex with wives who are not keen on that, or men who want anal with their wives (I know conservative Christians who believe within marriage anything goes except anal, even if both parties consent).

Ever since Michael's stroke, the NGJ articles seem to be written by a different author than him. However, it's nice he is pleased with Shoshanna's parenting, even though she adds her own twists to the program, hopefully no beatings with plumbing line or serving animal feed/rotten potatoes for supper. I didn't realize the baby was only 1? Was Shoshanna pregnant when they separated?

The exact time of their separation isn’t clear. He just wasn’t mentioned or in any pictures anymore. So I believe they likely separated when their youngest was still an infant. So quite young.

Mike & Debi didn't say anything about condemning spousal abuse & violence when Gabeʻs "marriage" to Lori fell apart some years ago.

If it matters to Mike & Debi now, it must be because their biological child is being harmed, and not "just" a son- or daughter-in-law.

As for Debi's statement on marital abuse, I see this as just another Pearl statement covering their asses on spreading toxic rhetoric.  Depending on who's asking, Pearl will change his tune about child abuse. Yes, he believes you can hit your kids, but he also believes you shouldn't hit them too hard. He has tried to distance himself when stories of people following his methods make him look bad.

The stroke was in 2018. Posted in  The Harvest has Arrived...By Debi Pearl, July 24, 2018 on the No Greater Joy website. 

"I’d like to tell you that Mike has had some brain grooving lately. Mike had two strokes this spring. The first one seemed to be the real deal. It lasted off and on for over 12 hours, but after 24 hours there apparently was no damage. The second was a month later and it seemed to be just an after-shock. We went into the hospital both times and an MRI confirmed his brain had taken a hit. Just to make it clear: we NEED his brain. After doing some research (and James and Shoshanna stepping up to take us and pay), we decided to go to a specialist that does stem cell treatment for stroke victims. We finally found a neurologist in Florida doing it. It was a VERY long and HURRIED trip..."   

Apparently, he was 72 when the stokes happened.

Wait a sec, stem cells?? When I was a fundigelical, we were lockstep-opposed to stem cell research or treatment because abortion. Another “do as I say, not as I do?” Or did they manage to find a doctor who only used treatments derived from adult stem cells (which, we were assured, were even more effective than fetal stem cells).

According to the Mayo Clinic, use of adult stem cells is not as effective.

Also, they consider the use of stem cells in the treatment of strokes to be experimental:

Debi clarifies in the article that only stem cells from the patient could be used. Of course, Michael Pearl's stem cells were extra strong and virile. 

Hubs had this stem cell treatment for his knee.  Draw blood, centrifuge out his stem cells, inject stem cells into knee.  Simple in-office procedure.  I have zero idea how complex it would be to squirt that stuff into someone's brain.

When discussing stem cell treatments, hub's orthopedist noted that the other kind of stem cells (derived from placentas? I can't remember, someone refresh me) were insanely expensive. 

My husband's stem cell treatment was not effective.  It helped with pain for a bit, but his arthritis was too far advanced and he ended up with a total knee replacement. 

I'll take a moment here to reference this amazing book on brain plasticity and concussion/brain damage: The Ghost in My Brain: How a Concussion Stole My Life and How the New Science of Brain Plasticity Helped Me Get it Back  by Clark Elliott. 

Clark Elliott is a professor who studies the intersection of artificial intelligence and emotion.  He had a severe concussion from a car accident and suffered from a number of years until he found a treatment.   Worth a read if you or anyone you know has suffered from post-concussion problems.

My nephew, 6 month old August Stoll, is in critical condition and in need of a heart transplant. He is currently being denied approval for a transplant solely based on his jab status.

He is SEVERELY immune compromised.

He spent 8 weeks in the ICU as an infant and had a failed open heart surgery on June 8th which led to heart failure and being machine supported in the ICU.

He is also missing a spleen (immune system organ) and in NO way should be heavily jabbed in this state.

It’s commonly known that healthy children run fevers and illness directly after receiving jabs.

In his fragile state, August can not risk that.

To be clear, the heavy amount of jabs being requested are not to support or improve his state of health or transplant success!!!

As his family, it appears they are solely requiring this for him to be seen as worthy of a heart. That they do not want to waste a heart on an unjabbed child because of hypothetical illness in his future childhood. They will let him die because of his status!

Why don’t his parents just agree to ALL the jabs?

Because they do NOTHING to help him in his current condition and only the SIGNIFICANT potential to harm him and what tips him over the edge he is balancing on.

Please understand there is not a heart waiting for him right now. Gaining approval for a transplant means he would be out on the list of waiting babies. It could be weeks or months before a heart was available for him after being listed. They do not want the HIGH risk of him becoming ill from the heavy load of jabs they want to give him during that waiting period.

What can you do?

SPREAD THE WORD! The hospital does not want the negative publicity and has been deleting and blocking people from their IG account all day.

They feel the pressure from the public and we need to keep it on!

PRAY! God has worked mightily and we give Him all the glory and praise. Something larger is happening here and we believe He is using August.

What I’ve read is that it’s recommended to get vaccinations before a heart transplant because of all the anti-rejection drugs you have to take after the heart transplant. Anti-rejection drugs and vaccines just don’t mix. He’s not on anti-rejection drugs now. So right now would be the time to get the vaccinations. I wouldn’t be surprised if the doctor allowed the parents to separate the vaccines and not have him get them all at once. Because he will be waiting on a heart for awhile anyway. It makes the most sense to get them now. But fundies think they know everything about vaccines 🙄

A family member doesn’t have their spleen and it’s even more important they gets vaccinated. Of course all of their medical care is at the Mayo Clinic, so again are they more trustworthy when it comes to medical care or are the Pearls?

I had an epiphany last week about essential oils, no vax, never go to the doctor, home births w/ a midwife ONLY and on and on and how so many fundy people are like "We don't need no stinkin' modern medicine" is because, even though some of them are college educated, they have to believe a home school HS diploma is sufficient for everything.  They've staked their lives and the lives of their children on the premise that homeschool, and no college is good enough and sufficient.

I agree that a lot of them likely think this way. But what’s crazy about this family is that they have been 100% on board with whatever the doctors have recommended since the baby was born. He’s been sick from the start. He’s spent a ton of time in the hospital. He’s had multiple surgeries and has been on plenty of medications. Yet vaccines are what they are fighting against. It’s not a surprise to me since it’s such a huge right wing Christian fundie hill to die on. It’s so common for fundies to be anti vaccine. They aren’t anti-heart transplant. I bet I could find some sort of verse in the Bible and interpret it in a way that says heart transplants are not ok. But because vaccines have become so political and fundies have tied their politics so tightly to their religion, they can’t let their child get routine vaccines but want him to get a heart transplant.

I truly, deeply hope this baby doesn't die, but I'll assume that the parents are not vaccinated against Covid, so another risk.

(Based on my limited knowledge) The thing that they don’t seem to understand is it’s not the hospital who mandates the rules for transplants.  It’s across the line rules.  There are so many that those who get transplants must agree to—meds, appointments, life style changes, etc.  The list from my understanding is extensive.  The hospital has little to no control of those rules, and that’s how it should be.  The meds that baby is on and will be on probably has way more significant side effects that any of the vaccines.  

How they can cheer for the overturning of Roe vs Wade, but vilify a hospital for wanting to do what’s best for the baby is mind blowing.  I hope the hospitals ethical team can get involved and get that baby the treatment he needs and in time for a heart.

-I’ve read of another story similar but I believe it’s a liver transplant the kid needs.  Parents too are refusing vaccine(s) so he can be put on the list.-
