See, I don’t think people would watch because it’s weird. It moves the family into a territory that they don’t want to be seen as.

The Bateses are fantastic at making their weirdness seem cute or fun.

Yeah, but this is neither. Everyone pretty much accepts you should have your own wedding. Especially when you’re young and it’s your first one. It’s just my opinion, I don’t think a double wedding would mean a ratings boost.

There was a double wedding between the Bowers family and Bontrager family last September. Their followers were all a Twitter over it and FJ was interested as well. Although in that case it was two brothers marrying two sisters so it made a double wedding much easier.

That is something I’d watch, it has meaning and is sweet. Two sisters marrying their unrelated grooms is weird for most people.

It looks like the Bates are at the lake right now in their latest ig post. Is one of the sons shirtless? Is Kelly upping her game on selling her single sons off?

I could see a double wedding being cute in a twin situation (like Jed and Jer Duggar), but the Bateses dont have any twins, so i hope they dont do it, especially not Carlin and Josie, that are so diferent personality wise(and their husbands are not that close, i mean if they wanted to do that they had a better chance with Tori, because Bobby and Kelton are BFFs.

Does it count if all the Bates boyfriends look like identical twins/clones?

I’m surprised Josie was allowed a tank top to the lake. Usually the girls are forced to roll up their short sleeves.

i thinks josie *does* have her short sleeves rolled up in that pic lol, i can see the creases - though the shirt is dark so it's harder to tell.

I'd watch a double wedding for the sheer spectacle of it xD. I mean, their whole fucking family scheme (duggs or bates) is making their mega-family (which IS WEIRD) seem cute and fun and wholesome. they used to show ATI events on 19kac for christs sake........at least a double-wedding between sisters isn't cultish, just cheap.

My mother's first cousins had a double wedding (two sisters, unrelated grooms). The guests seemed to like it, no one found fault. I'm considering having a double wedding with my own sister, also unrelated grooms. I guess we're weird and cheap then :pb_confused:

Carlin would rather die than share her wedding day.

And I think Josie will have a little (for a fundie ) wedding.

Fundy women get one day in their life where it is actually about them. I think it would be cruel to expect them to share it with another sibling. They would just be doing what they have been forced to do their entire lives, share everything and have nothing that is just their own. Now they shouldn’t even get the wedding they want but should instead compromise with a sibling? The sibling with the stronger personality is going to win out.

In the last facebook live, Kelly admits that they are paying Abby Paine to tutor the kids, and that they had other people before, she mentions Tori among them.

And by tutor she means doing every single bit of their education. At least they have someone to teach them because no way Kelly and Gil and going to do it.

Abby Paine, nor are any of these SAHDs, qualified to teach anyone. They have received substandard educations and are just continuing the cycle. I wonder if it’s a status symbol in the fundy world to have a live-in tutor or is it a status symbol to be a live-in tutor.

“borrowed” money from Lawson to buy groceries, had John Duggar install cameras in their house

How little pride does it take to have to take money from your kid to feed the family you keep growing?

Also, IN the house?!

They had up to an hour of personal Bible study first thing in the morning, an hour of family Bible study in the morning and another hour of Bible time in the evening.

I'm gonna be blunt.  How stupid do you need to be to need to study the exact same never-changing book 3 hours a day every day?  You should know it word for word after a year or 2 or less.

They're taught that men are turned on by sight and women are turned on by touch. So its not that important that a guy be modest because it won't cause a girl to sin.

So according to them, the picture behind this cut, which are NSFW unless you work with porn or at home (no peen, which is all what counts anymore as make nudity), won't cause a woman to sin.  Great!  So my thoughts are clean and pure right now.  Good to know.  I'll just snatch one of their kilts to mop up my drool.

I wonder that too. I know the Paine father is a doctor, so i doubt they are so desperate for money to send his daughters to work, so it must be them that choose to do this. I guess at their age and still single it is their only option to leave their house, which make me think how it must be the family life at the Paines house that working for the Duggars and the Bates (and marrying a rapist) seems like a good choice for those poor girls.

Well the Paine's aren't too choosey about their daughters to be perfectly honest. Just look at Tabitha Paine who married a rapist! :ew:

How old is Abby?  Could it be that she’s tutoring there in hopes of getting to know one of the three Bates bachelors?

I just checked the fundamentalists wiki and it says she turns 24 in July so that means she's a year older than Nathan and two years younger than Lawson.

The Bible says to stay in the word. Even Jesus says the same thing. I read my Bible daily and I’m always getting different things from the same passages. It’s not simply about memorization. For many people, it’s important to in order to be spiritually fed. If you’re a Christian who doesn’t  read the Bible on a regular basis, that’s fine. But if you do study and have regular quiet times, it doesn’t mean you’re stupid. It’s just part of your personal relationship with God. Many bible studies or quiet times only focus on a small section and it goes deeper than simply reading and memorizing.

According to quite a lot of Christians, the bible isn't about your interpretation, and so "getting different things" means you're doing it wrong.  Fundamentalists take personal interpretation to be even more wrong.  It's supposed to be whatever way the royal leaders decide.

When I was still Christian, my childhood church told us that the best way to be spiritually fed and remain in the word was to go out into the world and spend our time helping others, that reading the bible was good and all, but that to be Christ-like, we needed to focus on serving others.  Spending 12.5% of your life with the same book is excessive.  Most people don't spend anywhere near that much time serving others.  Spending time taking care of the family you chose to have doesn't count.  Spending time at a food kitchen helping to feed the poor, or helping solicit donations for the local homeless shelter, even cleaning up the side of the highway, serves others for the sake of others.  Reading the bible all the time means nothing if you aren't putting as much time putting into practice the stuff that Jesus preached.  If he says to help others, and you spend your time sitting on your butt in a nice, warm home with a cup of tea in one hand and a bible in the other, then you're hearing, but you aren't listening to what he'd told you to do.

I think you misunderstood what I meant by getting different things out of it. In any case, just because some Christians disagree doesn’t make what I’m saying wrong. It means that, like in all faiths, people disagree. I can have my daily quiet time and do good with in my community. I can do both things Jesus told me to do. It’s the darndest thing!
