She definitely dial back on the rhetoric.  She has been married for approximately three years now, had a baby, and  shockingly went back to work. She teaches either middle school or high school lit.

I wonder if DPIAT holds the purse strings. I'm a stay at home mom and I know there's no way I'd qualify for a mortgage or even a rental contract without a cosigner. Hell, I doubt I could get a credit card.

And Beall posted to Instagram that they drove 12 hours to a veteran's reunion.
Okay, I get it, support the troops, don't forget "The Greatest Generation," but I feel like I'm missing something. Where's the Grifter....uh, Philips family connection? None of the kids joined the military, neither of the parents are veterans, is the reason that they can claim to be road tripping and cosplaying because they're honoring people and not just because they're too clueless, badly educated, and snooty to get a job?
And if they can't really afford a house, how are they affording 12 hour road trips?

Pretty sure Doug Phillips is a Tool wouldn't have approved of "Phil Douglas" listening to Etta James or Big Mama Thorton, since they sang some pretty salty lyrics and led even saltier lives. Plus, they were both black and black people were non-persons in VF land. I have to wonder how his daughters are interpreting all this, especially since there's no sign that they're being allowed to do anything with their own lives, other than cosplay and beg for money to go on Continental Grand Tours like members of the Gilded Age impoverished gentry.

I had my attention elsewhere at the time, I believe. There's always so much crazy, and when VF was booming the courtship and stay at home daughter movement was booming as well. It wasn't until DPIAT got caught, and honestly not until AFTER Lourdes' lawsuit, that DPIAT came fully into my radar.
Even now, my fascination is more with how the hell Beall and the Philips kids manage this lifestyle of travel and cosplay ("for the veterans," sure) while Dougie Fresh screws around in Europe. And how frantic it must be to cover up the fact that Doug is, you know, GONE, in their patriarchal community.
Assuming there is any community left, that is. Beall's Instagram isn't very popular.

Oh, baloney! You either didn't believe it then, or you lied about not believing it then. If the latter, I understand. You were under the control of a very intimidating man. But you never said, anywhere, in Return of the Daughters that stay-at-home daughterhood "isn't preferable or possible for all young women." Perhaps you said it in your book; I don't know, I didn't read it. But the problem is, hardly anyone else did, either. What they did do, in droves, was watch Return of the Daughters, in which both you and your father very clearly stated that the SAHD lifestyle was God's best way to raise EVERY GIRL.

BTW, it being a private Christian school doesn't indicate a peaceful pleasant place in which a teacher had it easy. Troubled children are often sent to semi-affordable private schools to protect them from the further trouble they might find elsewhere. 

And not all typical [sic] kids want to be there.  And then, no school is immune from violence - check out The Wartburg Watch for a story of repeated rape at Brentwood private school in Tennessee.

Good point. Even when a private Christian school doesn't turn into a horror story like Brentwood, they often abuse staff by paying substandard salaries, offering few or no benefits, demanding excessive time commitments for no compensation, etc.

Additionally, just as problem children escape to private school systems, so do problem teaching & administrative staff.

It's so much easier, don't ya know, to skip all those stupid requirements about background checks. All you gotta do is say you love Jeebus the same way the school does, and you're in like Flynn.
