IMHO, the older daughters look at Amy as a cautionary tale of what happens when you don't let your father control every aspect of your life. Amy relies on Jim Bob for her livelihod, just in a different way.

Kind of a pity that Amy didn't get a good education, go to college and live an independant happy live as, say, a high school teacher. That way she would have shown the J'Slaves that someone can live a happy, respectable life not under the thumb of a male authority.
