Watched the season 2 premier, needless to say, very confused. :?

I have it on the DVR... is it worth the hour? I think I may wait the three episodes and let you guys tell me if its worth the investment!

I watched the first episode of season 2 and I have to say I was pretty much doing this :wtf: the entire time. It was like wtf to the power of wtf. However, from season 1, I know that (hopefully) some of the wtf moments will be answered throughout the season. I have to say that the religiousness (religiosity?) in the show is probably what keeps me coming back. That's why I'm on FJ - this stuff fascinates me. :D

If anyone can explain what the first 10 minutes of the first episode was supposed to be telling us, I would be forever in your debt....

Omg yes! That was so fucking weird that for a while I thought I was watching a different show. Then I thought maybe everyone had gone batshit and that's why the woman looked so filthy lol. I'm hoping they answer that in an upcoming episode. Otherwise, I'll have to give up watching, lest I get hold of some drugs to help me get through the show. I'm thinking that weirdness is tied to the town's "special-ness" somehow. Maybe?

I have cogitated on what that scene meant…..I got nothing. I noticed that the prehistoric birth took place at the same location where the girls disappeared and the lake dried up. And the folks in Miracle are suspicious acting. The guy that bought the house said the disappearances could have been based on location, and may happen again. Patti-is she a hallucination?

Three episodes in and I am so freaking lost........

Do you want a hug? [emoji1]

Silver Beach, I thought Patti was a hallucination until the stove incident. Now, I'm not sure if Kevin's plain old crazy or if something else is going.

It has to be a hallucination right?.   He brought the body to a police station so she has to be dead?

So lost.....

I do think she's dead but how did she push Kevin onto the stove? Or could he have been having an episode (he obviously has sleep issues or something) and he fell onto the stove?  I'm lost too but now it's like a clusterfuck that I can't turn away from.  I need to know what's going to happen. :my_confused:

I'm so glad everyone else has these mixed/confused feelings about this show. The first episode was weird and then I think the second one on redeemed it for me. So far it's way better than the first season-- I'm not even sure why I stuck through it (except, as someone mentioned, it's a show to watch while other shows aren't on).

Why are people disappearing from Miracle? What does this neighbor boy know? Agh!

I think the episodes are getting progressively better, last week's was pretty good even if I am still a bit confused by the outcome...

However, this season is kind of like one of Sarah Maxwell's Moody books, a random set of stories that don't connect

Hallucinations and reality are all intertwined here. Maybe the random disjointed feel of the show is illustrative of how humanity strives to make sense of the senseless, in an effort to feel control over the uncontrollable. I'll try again tomorrow.

So did anyone catch the latest clusterfuckepisode?

Watched it last night. whotheywhatnow?!?!  They only have 3 episodes left, I don't know how they are going to tie all this up.  So far, the only question they have answered was why that one guy went to jail.

I still have to watch it, now I'm afraid...

There was just a lot going on.  Some mind-fucking, I think.  At least for me.  But you should definitely watch it.

Edit: we replied at the same time!  Jinx! (Jinks?) LOL

I did! Cliffhanger!!!

For the first time this season, I can't wait for next week's episode!

I slow-mo'd the preview.  Didn't catch anything I understand, but yeah the bolded is how I felt.  Or in Spanish, "que que" (I just googled that to spell it right but I got a bunch of porn images :my_confused: so I probably spelled it wrong).

SPOILER ALERT: Kevin must engage in a dead-live fight with Patti who is actually some type of evil spirit that is on him, not in him, in order to get rid of her. He needs to quickly get on with it, Patti-devil is itching for a fight and the whole town will soon know Kevin is kinda bonkers.

Nora left Kevin and went somewhere, she couldn't take his seeing Patti revelation. She's one to react poorly to Kevin's nuttiness, remember how crazy she was in S1, paying someone to "shoot" her, then passing out on a mattress pretending she was dead?

Laurie showed up in Miracle. Nothing good followers her. Jill cursed God in church, but her new boyfriend understands. Jill was really angry about him not wanting to have sex yet, because while she is "amazing", he doesn't know if he loves her yet. Awwwww

Has anyone managed to figure out how the pregnant cave women relates to all of this?

I'm hoping we find out in the next three episodes.

I read an article a few weeks ago on NPR and they mentioned that we will never find out why  all those people disappeared.  So... maybe we'll never find out about the cave woman.

edit:

Relevant quote:

On whether The Leftovers audience will gain any insight into the larger mystery of what happened to those who vanished

Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta were very clear that they were not going to answer this question and the people watching were going to have to live in the same unknown that the characters are. So in that sense, everyone is kind of in real time together, which I thought was a great way of sort of keeping people in the present while watching the show.

I'm trying to figure that out too.  Below is a quote from a reviewer...so who knows lol.

"What did it mean? Why was it included in the episode? We can theorize that she was a first woman and her death either haunted or blessed the land on which she died, which was inferred to be Jarden thanks to a panning flash forward to present day. We can guess that it was a symbolic reminder that human nature's preference is to care for each other, and the second cave lady was a prime example of our species persevering and looking out for one another."

Jarden=Garden, Garden of Eden, but the evil snake was there too...

The cavewoman definitely died in Jarden/Miracle, she died where the river is.

Okay, so I caved (haha) and googled it and found this:

http://www.bustle.com/articles/113903-the-leftovers-season-2-cavewoman-prologue-was-bizarre-but-author-tom-perrotta-has-an-explanation-for

So, what the heck was that scene even about? "We're trying not to say too much about what it means or what role it will play in the course of the season; we want viewers to interpret it on their own," [Tom Perotta] says. "It's obviously something that stands apart from the main narrative, and so I think, as the season develops, that sort of 'overture of the cavewoman' will resonate throughout the episodes that follow." But, it doesn't take too much coaxing for the author spill at least one tantalizing clue about the prologue's significance:

"One thing I will say is that this cavewoman is a Leftover. She's someone who has survived this inexplicable catastrophe and she's got to move on with her life. In that sense she is somebody who just reminds the viewer that this is an essential experience: to be a survivor and to figure out a way to move on."

And I also found this:

http://www.businessinsider.com/the-leftovers-director-explains-opening-sequence-in-season-2-first-episode-2015-10

"The opening sequence will resonate throughout the entire season," [Mimi Leder] told BI. "And definitely in the finale."
