David, Priscilla, & Paul Waller - Pecan Thief in the Family

Maybe it's like that with fundies. David is a good Christian man who thinks homosexuality is a sin; therefore he cannot be a gay man regardless of how he comes across. Because then he wouldn't be a good Christian man and that can’t be the case because he is a good Christian man. Or something like that.

And that's probably why Priscilla will also never accept that about David even if she smartens up and has a few realizations down the line such as gay people do exist and yes, gay people can father kids.

Even if she realized it, it would be a simple trip to Pray the Gay Away camp, and all is well

Those crazy Pecan thieves have hit the road again with their new little blessing and one of their stops was the Creation Museum. David was kind enough to post what he calls "The Seven "C's" of History, and not being a Christian, I thank him profusely for this Wisdom.

The Seven “C’s†of History, as posted by the fabulous David Waller:

Creation-God created the world and all that is in it in seven literal 24 hour days. I've often wondered, why in "seven literal 24 hour days"? For instance, why couldn't He it do it in 3 hours, 18 minutes and 42 seconds? Then again, why should God be constrained at all by such a silly thing as time?

Corruption-God loves all mankind and love includes choices. Man chose to sin and everyone since then was born as sinners. So it's in our DNA now? Seems a little unfair to blame us for what He programmed into us, no?

Catastrophe-God allowed a world-wide flood, but made away for those who believed in Him to escape. Who knew cockroaches were believers? Or were they just the same sneaky little devils then as now?

Confusion-Man wanted to rule the world with their intellectual and physical powers, so God just adjusted a little factor-language. Color me confused indeed. What's a "factor-language?"

Christ-The Second Adam came to earth and was humbly born, lived a perfect life so he could be tempted, reviled and yet remain faithful to what His Father directed. I had no idea there were two of them. What happened to the First Adam? Was he like gay or something? Or just a disappointing slacker?

Cross-God so loved us He sent His only son to take the punishment we all deserved because of our sin and allowed Him to suffer cruel death on the cross so we might have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Very cruel, especially considering we're all programmed as sinners in the first place (see number 2 above). And what about all those people who died before the crucifixion? Were they issued passes after-the-fact or are they the permanent victims of unfortunate timing?

Consummation-Christ longs to have full and unbroken fellowship with all those who He created. I'll not pretend to know what He longs for, so I’ll just add a little Mr. Spock wisdom here, “After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting.â€

I'm still cracking up at the thought of God wanting to consummate his relationship with his followers via sweet sweet fellowship. David walked right into that one wow hahaha.

I watched the HBO Liberace movie (it was great, BTW, for anyone thinking of checking it out) with my mother this past weekend and she commented how strange it is to look back and recall a time when people didn't assume Liberace was gay. Certainly by the 80's everyone did but according to her, there was a disconnect in the earlier days. Yes, he was effeminate and wildly flamboyant and had never been married. And yes, adults knew gay people existed back in the 60's and early 70's. But there was a cognitive dissonance about people like him and Paul Lynde, another obviously gay man who always acted flamboyantly. Most people just didn't make the leap to conclude they were homosexual. If they had, they wouldn't have been allowed on TV. (Think of the children!) Maybe it's like that with fundies. David is a good Christian man who thinks homosexuality is a sin; therefore he cannot be a gay man regardless of how he comes across. Because then he wouldn't be a good Christian man and that can’t be the case because he is a good Christian man. Or something like that.

This is a little OT but it's also adorable and I figure people here will appreciate it. My grandpa is (ultra-) conservative, Greatest Generation, Christian, where's Obama's REAL birth certificate, blah blah blah. He's also loud and not inclined to emotional displays. However, he is completely baffled by anyone who discriminates against gay people. As in, he honestly doesn't understand what the big problem with teh gayz is. Last summer, my sister stopped by my grandparents' house to pick something up. My grandpa was, as usual, sitting in his recliner watching television by himself while everyone else sat on the deck enjoying the weather. My sister went in to say hi to him and was horrified to find the poor guy sitting in his chair, BAWLING. Taken aback, she said, "Grandpa? What's wrong?!" He motioned to the TV, which was turned to Lifetime, and said, with tears pouring down his cheeks, "I'm watching this movie and the mother disowned her son just because he's gay. Can you IMAGINE?"

Even if he does call in to the local conservative talk radio show on a regular basis to bitch about ALL Democrats, I think he's a pretty good guy.

Oh my goodness that photo is just a bundle of LOLz. Or as a fundie would say "such a blessing, what an encouragement!"

It irritates me to no end how on their blog they constantly switch between first and third person, as though we don't know it's David writing everything. In just their newest post, it goes from "A highlight from our time in Australia..." and "We had the privilege of escorting them..." to "Priscilla and David are more in love today than when they were married nearly a year and a half ago" back to "Our Paul was sound asleep during our visit". OMFG just pick a perspective!

And then before I broke my computer reading this post I read this "Consummation-Christ longs to have full and unbroken fellowship with all those who He created. And now I'm LOLing really hard about how David making his sweet sweet fellowship with Jesus.

I'm just to here on this thread, and I haven't yet read the previous threads about this little (for now) family, so please forgive my ignorance. But...what "dangerous" city do they live in? I have gleaned ( ) from this thread that they are near Gothard headquarters in Oak Brook. I just can't fathom how any city near there could be thought of as dangerous. The idea of it is just laughable. :cray-cray:

Chicago. Quick antecdote -- when I was in my last year of college, (35 years ago) I spent a week in France. In trying to explain to a Paris taxi drive where I was from I said Illinois. His response was to say "Chicago" and point an imaginary tommy gun at me making gun noises. All the mobster action plus the diversity, the corruption there could lead one, especially a very sheltered individual, to think it is a dangerous city.

Having been born and raised in Chicago, I did encounter the machine gun imitations from people while traveling on family vacations as a kid. A lot of folks just thought we were always dodging bullets from those Al Capone types driving around. The whole mobster thing stuck for a very long time.

A friend of mine just returned from a cruise and while on it, when asked where they were from, her bf didn't want to say he was from Chicago because of Obama. And of course, our governors have a tough time staying out of jail.

They have to have a kissing picture, of course. Got to make sure everyone knows they kiss. I feel like the little boy from The Princess Bride when I look at a lot of fundie blogs. Why is there so much kissing!

Very, very interesting: When I read the latest D & P post in Google Reader yesterday, one of the "C's" was about Choices, and how a Loving God provides his children with the opportunity to make their own. (Of course, that made my head spin, given the extreme restrictions imposed on the children and other subordinates of Fundie patriarchs).

And now that "C" has been edited out of the post altogether. Either David realized the irony on his own, or he got some unpublished comments about it that made him reconsider posting that bit.

ETA: I went back into Google Reader to see if the original post was preserved, but it reads like it does now. We all know David has a habit of "revising" posts, so I wouldn't be surprised.

ETA 2 (sorry, folks - high on generic DayQuil): I see he still has something about choices, but I swear it's changed. It's now under "Corruption" instead of its own heading.

Or his sugar Daddy Bill read it and placed his had on Davey's knee and whispered in his ear that it should be altered? Or he will squeal to Prissy about Rob?
