Taliban Tony and Lina's crisis of faith/marriage

I was absolutely certain that one of our Lina+TT watchers had created a summary with links, but I can't seem to find it right now! Am I imagining things? I will keep looking for it in the meantime. Please chime in if you recall reading this.

Short story: Lina and TT are former "messianic jews," a self-assigned label to which many of our posters took umbrage (and they were not alone in their sentiments). She used to have a blog called "a set apart life," in which she discussed her faith. Lina and TT had a whirlwind courtship which sort of began with TT online-stalking Lina through facebook. They were married in someone's backyard in what seemed to be a hurry and 10 months later, had a baby. It was widely speculated that they fooled around before marriage, but it seems like she just got insta-pregnant after their wedding. At some point (I forget when), Lina locked down her blog, presumably because she couldn't deal with getting flak from FJ posters and Jewish bloggers for her religious beliefs. After the baby was a few months old, TT began posting on his facebook and twitter talking about atheism. They separated a few months later. Then after a few months, they were back together again (as of last week or so), but TT doesn't appear to have backed down from his interest in atheist authors. Lina has become Catholic. Their poor baby is too young to understand what's going on, but I still feel bad for him.

TT's nickname comes from a post he made (I think on Lina's former blog?) to the effect of, "when men act like the Taliban, it's because women are disobedient." I paraphrase, but as I recall, that was the general sentiment. Hence, he became nicknamed "Taliban Tony" or TT for short. Lina now goes by her full name, Paulina.

I could not for the life of me understand why she was already posting wedding pin ideas a month (maybe even less) after her separation. It was either to make TT jealous (immature) or because she really thinks she can just get a magical "do-over" like nothing ever happened (again immature). Not to say there is no moving on after divorce and finding the right person to love, but there is certainly no magic in it like snap your fingers it never happened and I'm a princess again waiting for my prince!

Whatever it is Lina's level (or lack) of maturity downright scares me. I really really hope you're right too in that she is finally looking for a career or way to make an income so she can rely more on herself to support her baby.

Well, damn. Colour me naive, I suppose, since I was all, "he's not an MRA yet or anything." It is more consistent with the persona we got to know during his blogging/commenting days. I've met a few freethinkers and rec. pot smokers, not a large sampling, but just haven't come across any that are total douchebags and abusers (that I know of).

There are abusers in every group there is, and unfortunately, they are not usually obvious to outside observers. If you'd met my dad, you'd never have believed that things that went on in my home. You'd be talking about how funny, smart and nice he was.

I guess Lina, TT, and Azariah (sp?) are one big happy family again, as evidenced by her giant "I <3 My Husband" Facebook banner. However, Lina looks supersuper thin in her latest public profile pic (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater). Like, unhealthily so--her arm looks like it belongs to a scrawny twelve-year-old. Anyone else a mite concerned?

A couple weeks ago she kept pinning about sex. While it's good to see that Lina probably has a healthier attitude towards sex than many fundies, I don't want to see that. Perhaps she is off the modesty kick bc broadcasting your sex life all over Pinterest is NOT modest.

I've been checking in on Lina's FB, pinterest, and Tony's FB and twitter, but there's been little to update in terms of real news. If I had to guess, I'd say Lina and TT were separated temporarily and neither followed through by filing for divorce. Lina had returned to her maiden name unofficially, it seems, but then switched it back on FB once they reconciled. Yes, Tony is still publicly an atheist with all his atheist "likes" on his FB page, and has made no public move to return to Christianity. Lina has gone full-out Catholic, so I'm not too surprised by the Christmas Pinterest board. And yes, haha, the "29 days to great sex" sounds so much more tasteful when you pin it to a board entitled "Holy Matrimony," doesn't it?

Lina's been looking really thin for awhile, at least since the separation, so I'm not too surprised she's still really thin. I've been in the kind of situation that's totally wrong romantically, and it's kind of like lying in place allowing yourself to be crushed by a glacier while you try to convince yourself the cold dread you're feeling is all in your head. "It's me who's wrong, not him! I must make my own love and warmth for this relationship! I have to sacrifice myself more, and he'll come around!" Perhaps I exaggerate a little, but the sad, depressing feeling of being with someone when you know, deep down inside, that it's not going to work out, is no joke, and it takes its toll. I lost my appetite totally, and I'm a person who loves food, so I can relate. Unfortunately, until this thing is conclusively resolved - either TT re-converting or their separation - I don't think Lina will be really able to feel happy and well. This is sort of a temporary illusion that all is peachy with their relationship, probably aided along by the "29 tips to great sex" that will definitely not save a troubled marriage.

I doubt that Tony changed his beliefs about women because he went atheist. There are some very misogynist atheist men out there. Look back to the reaction to Elevatorgate, it brought out a nasty side of the men there to the point where I left the atheist community for a while because I did not feel, as a woman, that I was safe there.

Maybe the Catholic conversion isn't all that strange though.

I've always suspected that she had an eating disorder and most people I have meet with eating disorders seem to have a very "rule driven" diets.

I think that, for Lina, both religions appeal to her because they have very set rules, rituals, and clothing, etc.

Maybe her low weight combined with her restrictive diet is making it hard to conceive the reconciliation baby, so she's going back to eating meat. I know I'm just adding fuel to the fires of raging speculation, but I can't resist ;-).

I´m afraid the reconciliation baby already happened. She pinned on her Fertility & Pregnancy board a page on "how i overcame morning sickness" (16 weeks ago), and barely a month ago she pinned a photo of a pregnant woman and wrote: "I like the idea of a silhouette against a light window. Could even do a few of these as the bump grows...".

I can´t believe she is crazy enough to add another child to her mess.

EDIT TO ADD: Seems Andrea DeHerrera (god is writing my love story or something like that) is pregnant, again! She has a new board on pinterest called "future baby". She is, what, 23? And her oldest is 4? I thought she has left the craziness, guess I was wrong.

Not quite as frequent as Brandy, maybe, but more fervent. She and Tony were pretty hard-core fake Jews when she kept her blog and they met. Now she's a Catholic, and I think there was an evangelical phase in between the two. Tony went straight from fake Jew to a Dawkins-loving atheist, and now is apparently into campaigning for Pot legalization, too.

ETA, they were both vegans and kept Kosher when they met, now she's into typical fat/meat/dairy laden Pinterest recipes. I have no idea if Tony is still vegan or not, although I'm sure his new-found love of pot means he happily partakes in the cake/cookie/candy/sugar-fest his wife bakes up.

I find it interesting she pinned an article entitled "3 Ways to Confront Pornography" on one of her boards. Perhaps for Taliban Tony? Also, she seems to have pinned a lot of articles about strengthening/improving one's marriage. Not a good sign.
