Harry & Meghan 13: Doing the Dance of Deniability

I don't think this is normal, but then again Harry is continuing to display troubling thoughts and behavior:

Quote

“The brother I’d escorted into Westminster Abbey that morning was gone — forever. Who could deny it?” he wrote. “He’d never again be first a foremost Willy. We’d never again ride together across the Lesotho countryside with capes blowing behind us. We’d never again share a horsey-smelling cottage while learning to fly. Who shall separate us? Life, that’s who.”

The Duke reportedly went on to describe the occasion as “yet another farewell under this horrid roof” and “another sundering”.

He shared more details about his feelings during the end of William’s royal wedding, where he served as the groom’s best man.

“And I recall Willy walking her back up the aisle, and as they disappeared through the door, into the carriage that would convey them to Buckingham Palace, into the eternal partnership they’d pledged, I recall thinking: Goodbye,” he continued.

Talk about first world problems... How dare William have a life and get married? How dare Kate steal his riding partner?

I am sure these are deep and meaningful grievances to Harry but I am as yet unmoved.

Siblings getting married and relationships changing is just normal, isn't it? You grown and adapt to the changes, you welcome their spouse into your family circle. The relationship isn't ruined, it's just different.

I feel as if I'd just read a bit of really florid, Bulwer-Lytton-esque 19th century prose. What on earth was his editor thinking? :my_confused:

As pointed out by Kayla Adams on Twitter, it is sheer hypocrisy for Meghan to make a podcast all about ‘archetypes’ or words that are used to run women down, but to use ‘baby brain’ as a way to disparage Kate.

https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/royals/meghan-markles-hormonal-slur-at-kate-middleton-reveals-sexist-truth/news-story/31fe776603b4c359a23515e5fae73359

I hope she is happy to buy luxury goods with the money she earned from her lies and hypocrisy in the podcast - apparently in the book, Harry whines that he has to buy IKEA furniture but Willy gets to have more expensive stuff.

Spare us.

The more H & M speak out against the BRF the more I just pity them for the therapy they need. No matter how genuinely they want a healthy relationship with his relatives all they’re doing is insuring (ensuring?) that will never happen. Regardless of how toxic the BRF is, nothing about how H & M have handled things makes me think they’re any less toxic.

Really? I buy IKEA stuff because I like it, but I can actually afford slightly more expensive stuff if I really want it. If I, who am living on my husband's teaching and military retirement monies and my own social security (well, starting next month!) can do that, surely poor, poor Harry with his $100 million dollar book deal, can!

To be fair, he will go further down the line eventually.

Don't you mean he'll go UP the line?

Charles is likely die long before George has a baby. Chances are, Harry will be 4th in the next few years.

Sounds like you are anxious for him to go down the line. Not as anxious as he is, though.

You feel Harry is more toxic than a pedophile?

I have different views about pedophilia. I think it is abhorrent, and MUCH worse than writing a memoir.

If Kate had said Meghan had "baby brain" everyone would be laughing. It all depends on whose saying it. Kate's allowed to say a lot that Meghan can't. It's called white privilege.

It is normal but it’s also a big change, especially if you’re the unmarried sibling “being left behind”. None of Harry’s words sound like he’s condemning William for getting married, just more remarking on the change and how it would never be the way it was before, which I can understand. My grandma died in June and due to the cost of plane tickets, just my sisters came home for the funeral, leaving their spouses and children behind. While we were grieving and it wasn’t a happy visit, it was startling fun because it had been years since we had hung out just as our family without in-laws or kids.

That’s the purplest prose that ever purpled this side of 1880 and probably going to get snickers and eye rolls rather than whatever the hell Harry is going for.

I'm sorry you are unmoved, that matters. But Harry is allowed to grieve a change in his relationship. Healthy peoole do it all the time.

His father's an adulterer, his uncle a rapist. His step-mom is also a cheater who heartlessly helped destroy a young woman. But it's Harry you have a problem with? To my knowledge, he hasn't raped any teenagers or cheated on his wife.

I can understand how Harry may have had an extra hard time with William getting married. If they were very close, especially after Diana died, then it might be very hard.

I haven't read the article about this so if he is accusing William of abandoning him by getting married then that's ridiculous. But if he's just personally feeling sad about it then I can understand that.

Thread has gotten quite detailed:

I am getting far too much entertainment out of these threads!

So people on Twitter have been looking back at the articles during the Nazi uniform party time and apparently the articles at the time make no mention of Kate being at the party or her and William dating at the time.  Speculation is that this may have been one of those times when she and William were on a break (not the the big break, but a smaller one.).

This could be another inconsistency in their stories.

I can't believe this is even a debate. Of course Harry's armies will win, he's got the magic hair next to his bed. The only way William can beat him is if he can steal it while Harry sleeps.

This is the same couple where Meghan says she was suicidal, but HR (don't call me stupid you know you weren't a paid employee) wouldn't help her and she couldn't get help:

https://pagesix.com/2023/01/05/prince-harry-snapped-at-meghan-markle-in-fight-that-led-to-therapy/

She sent Harry!

Turned against his military family, too.

It just keeps getting worse. Im embarrassed for him and meghan...but also worried. He sounds mentally unhinged in a way.

I sure hope that's a horrible ghost writer. All the excerpts I've read do not sound like Harry compared to interview. But then...why have such a horrible ghost writer? Who in the world green lit such strange writing style? Who writes like that anyway? Unless you're cosplaying?

Is this all some bizarre joke?? It seems to absurdly awful.

Kate is too special to disparage!

It's OK to disparage Meghan all you want, though.

Meghan didn't realize these stuffy, upper class Brit women don't joke around with each other. She should have been more in awe of Kate! That would have solved everything.

I believe some (most?) of the quotes are from Spanish copies of the book that were mistakenly sold early and have been translated back into English, so it may not be in his voice/vocabulary

I have said it before and I will say it again inherited mental instability has been known in both sides of Harry’s family  going back hundreds of years at least. This is fact.
