Faux 4: A News Channel That Shows No News

I get the idea that Faux Noise would love to see the ADA repealed, after the rant about Legos featuring figures with disabilities. I guess George Bush who signed it into law is now too "woke."332491731_220976700381699_574825424808641925_n.thumb.jpg.09f206a137151726a50e79590bdec64b.jpg

We knew they were lying. But they were also actively colluding.

I read an interesting article recently (but I don't recall just where).  It said that the Republicans are desperate to find someone else besides Trump as a candidate.  They think that DeSantis is a good fit because he is out-Trumping Trump.  What they don't seem to understand is that about 30% of the party is no longer loyal to Republicans.  They're just loyal to Trump.  If he runs as a third party, they'll follow him.  They seem to have gotten themselves into quite a pickle.  Couldn't happen to a more worthy group of people.

SNL had it's own take on Faux and Fascists yesterday

Quote

Just days after Rupert Murdoch’s unsealed deposition in the Dominion Lawsuit revealed that the Fox News mogul could have easily stopped his most MAGA-fied hosts from pushing Trump & Co.’s 2020 election fraud lies—“but I didn’t”—Saturday Night Live’s version of Fox & Friends aimed, shot, and fired straight at the media mogul—once they got their stories straight.

Steve Doocy (Mikey Day), Ainsley Earhardt (Heidi Gardner), and Brian Kilmeade (Bowen Yang) beamed in from their studio in New York City (“What a cesspool!,” sneered Kilmeade) to discuss, among other things, Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion lawsuit against the network.

While it’s been going on for years now, each of the hosts seem somewhat surprised to learn about it—albeit each of them for different reasons. While Kilmeade was disappointed, given how much he loves “da Minions” with their little overalls and love of bananas, Doocy attempted to clarify the details of the case. Earhardt chimed in to make it known how closely she’s been following all of what’s going on, and how much she disagrees with the legal proceedings.

“This whole trial has been so unfair,” Earhardt said. “They have been raking him over the coals. Rupert Murdoch would never murder anyone!”

Sure about that Ainsley?

Tucker Carlson.  He thinks this is his moment.  All eyes are on him and he can twist all the video clips into something that will save Donald's political career.  He'll be a rightwing hero.  They will sing praises to his name and he'll be carried though the streets on people's shoulders.

In reality he is a pile of horseshit.  He doesn't care about this country at all.  He's a tiny man with an outsized ego who is tired of liberals making him feel stupid.  I only hope that karma eventually catches up with him.

He's being denounced - police chief and McConnell:

It’s so interesting reading the behind-the-scenes email evidence from Fox in the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit.  I wonder if the J6 footage recast by Tucker is supposed to be a distraction away from how guilty the emails make them seem.  🤷‍♀️

Funny, I just read an article in the Washington Post showing emails from Fox detailing how they really viewed Trump, and I kept getting Heinz ketchup pop-ups!  There must be a delivery truck speeding to Mar-a-Lago right now, lol!  Great marketing. 😆

Fox employee Abby Grossberg, who filed a lawsuit against Fox claiming she was pressured into giving false testimony in the Dominium Voting case, has been fired.

Fox employee fired in false testimony case - CNN

Excerpt follows:

….

A Fox News spokesperson said in a statement Monday that the network’s lawyers had previously told Grossberg that she was “free to file whatever legal claims she wished” but was not legally permitted to share the “privileged information” that she possessed because of her role in the Dominion case. She gave a deposition in the case, and her testimony has been cited by Dominion in some of its court filings.

We were clear that if she violated our instructions, Fox would take appropriate action including termination,” the spokesperson said. “Ms. Grossberg ignored these communications and chose to file her complaint without taking any steps to protect those portions containing Fox’s privileged information.

FOX News Sharpens Lifestyle TV Pitch for Madison Avenue

— Variety headline, March 21

Please! Fox News isn’t a news network! We’re a lifestyle network! I know what you are thinking: “If Fox News is not a news network, then why do you have ‘news’ right there in the name?” The answer is simple: It is a mistake, but we keep forgetting to remove it.

And now, thanks to lawsuits from not one but two voting system manufacturers, the fiction that maybe we were going to tell you news, if you waited long enough, is evaporating into thin air, and it is time for some hasty rebranding. And it turns out that lurking inside us all along, like a tapeworm, was a Lifestyle Network! We already offer many hours of sponsored programming showing novelty pillows, seats you can put into your bathtub and sunglasses with the properties of copper.

But there’s more! Consider our fall slate of Fox Lifestyle programming:

Follow Alexandra Petri's opinionsFollow

“The Next Mrs. Murdoch”: Think “Succession” meets “The Bachelor.” Rupert Murdoch is still in the market for a bride! Are you there for the Right reasons or the alt-Right reasons?

“Go(o)p”: It’s many of the same supplements, but a very different presentation!

“Straight Eye”: A group of unpleasant heterosexual men come to your home for days and insult your furniture, attire, grooming, cooking and personality without offering any constructive suggestions for improving them. At the end of the week, you are left with nothing but a six-in-one shampoo-conditioner-body wash-dish soap-furniture cleaner-dip that smells like paint thinner, and one of your chairs is dented that wasn’t before.

“Cooking With Gas”: You have never seen so much gas used to boil an egg! Our kitchen is not vented, because we are patriots who would never dream of not inhaling the maximum amount of gas possible. If this is a hit, we will follow it up with “Cooking With Oil,” a normal cooking show that somehow burns enormous amounts of petroleum.

Love It or List It”: A throw-back show from the 1950s where Joseph McCarthy reviews employees of the State Department and decides if he loves them or wants to list them.

“Diners, Diners and Diners”: We don’t eat the food, we just ask the people there to wax lyrical about how much they miss Donald Trump and the Old Days. Co-produced by a new major news outlet each week!

“MyPillow”: Replace all the pillows in your home with less comfortable pillows made by a man with a mustache! Not just the pillows you sleep on! Every pillow! EIGHTEEN HOURS OF MY PILLOW PROGRAMMING! Some of it is rants about the election, but that’s okay, it’s paid!

“Selling Sunset”: The chair on which George Washington sat during the Constitutional Convention famously had a sun on it. Was it a rising sun, or a setting sun? We believe it was the latter, and we are here to fill you with a sense of doom for your democracy. Also, we are blond.

“Real Housewives of the United States”: Weirdly, this is just reruns of “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

“Outnumbered, Outgunned”: Outnumbered! But everyone has a gun and holds it for the entirety of the program.

“Project Runway”: Contestants from the fashion design world are told that they must spend the next month donating their labor to build jet runways by hand, as a gesture of support for the troops and the wonderful Defense Department contractors who make this country great!

Tidying Up With Maria Bartiromo”: Inspired by the Marie Kondo classic, Maria Bartiromo applies the Kondo method to ballots in a variety of swing states. Watch as she discards each one that does not spark joy! (Dominion Voting Systems describes it as “not how our voting systems work at all. We are suing again.”)

“Rick, Steve’s Europe”: Two guys named Rick and Steve explain for an hour why you would never want to go to Europe, which is full of riots and socialism.

“Joe Biden’s Antiques Roadshow”: The show is nearly identical to “Antiques Roadshow,” but the age of each item is now described in relation to the age of President Biden. “This clown from 1943, a year after Joe Biden was born, is worth up to $10,000 at auction!”

“GQAnon”: This is our lifestyle magazine! We would have included information about how QAnon is not based in fact but it would have made our viewers too mad, so we didn’t! That’s the kind of integrity you can expect from Fox Lifestyle!

Alexandra Petri in fine form as she tackles the new line up for Fox News Lifestyle.  Gifted link to Washington Post article   (Sorry about awkward formatting.  May have been because I was laughing so hard.)

Dominion's suit against Faux "News" will go to trial next month

Quote

Dominion Voting Systems’ historic defamation case against Fox News will proceed to a high-stakes jury trial next month, a Delaware judge ruled Friday, declining to declare a pretrial winner.

The judge’s decision represents a major legal setback for Fox News and sets the stage for an agonizing weeks long trial in which some of the right-wing channel’s highest ranking executives and most prominent hosts could be called to the stand to testify about the 2020 election lies that were promoted on its air.

Both sides had asked Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis for a pretrial ruling in their favor, declaring them the winner at this stage. But after thousands of pages of filings and exhibits, and a series of courtroom clashes in Wilmington, Davis decided that the case should go to trial.

But in his Friday ruling, Davis said that the evidence Dominion presented shows Fox News aired falsehoods about the company.

Fuck Faux "News."

I don't understand why Rupert is having them stick to the Trump party line.  It's already going to cost him billions because he let them run with the fake voting machine material.  Donny is going to NYC to get arrested.  He isn't meeting his sublime moment in history.  I get that the Fox audience is a bunch of poorly informed people with chips on their shoulders.  But isn't Rupert smart enough to understand that this will not end well for Trump and Fox?
