Who knows. Maybe Bobye witnessed Josh doing something.

I wonder if the “family friend”/aka “babysitter” had some connection with the Doyles. (Did the girl’s parents turn to the Doyle’s perhaps?)

It sounds as if Doyle was fully informed about the case— not just the witness of one incident.  Could Michelle have broken down and confided everything to Bobye one day?  Did the Duggars turn to the Doyles for help hushing things up?  Were they that close?

ETA: I see that Josh supposedly “confessed” to Bobye Doyle.  What I wonder is, why Bobye Doyle?  Was she brought in because she was close to the family or because someone else involved her?  I just don’t see teenage Josh having this strong urge to confess to her. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah I was about to say that. It protects against self-incrimination (i.e. Jim Bob incriminating himself), he cannot plead it to avoid incriminating Josh. Hence why he's made himself impossible to find.

They can find him. He is just going to make it difficult. Can they issue a warrant for him or something?

They have backed the Duggars into a corner. Josh will either have to admit to downloading some of the worst stuff on the internet and take the plea deal or JB will have to go under oath about what he knew his teen son did to young girls. JB is probably in a full panic right now.

So much for making the case this is a Deep State/President Biden based conspiracy. Good attempt at defending the indefensible, Anna.

Thank you for posting such a thorough yet detailed summary, @marmalade!

This article: https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2021/nov/18/prosecutors-accuse-duggar-of-past-sexual-assault/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter_ArkansasR2K doesn't say anything as to whether Bobye witnessed it. It only says that in 2003 Josh confessed to her that he sexually assaulted a girl (thus she was a witness to that confession).

I don't know anything about laws or statute of limitations on such things in Arkansas, but could he plead the 5th in order to not incriminate himself on something like child endangerment charges? If admits to knowing what Josh did, and failing to protect the rest of his children in the aftermath, could he be held responsible for that? I could see him trying to use a technicality to protect Josh while also covering his own ass.

I think he’s always treated her pretty horribly. He’s always treated her as less than him. It’s sad that she accepts it. If she hadn’t been raised to be a fundie doormat, maybe things would be different.

Maybe. I don’t know. When I was a social worker there was  a depressing  number of women of various beliefs and backgrounds who would stand by their man despite this kind of crap. Even if it was their own kids who were being harmed. A few actively engaged and encouraged it.

I am sadly almost certain that JB and  Michelle are going to end up being the primary caregivers of all or most of the M’s as Anna spends her time waiting for envelopes, shlepping to visit, writing long sappy letters, putting money on his books and yearning for the day he comes home in 5-10 years and hopes it’s not to late for another few M babies. And if there are restrictions on what kids he can be around - well Lolli and Pops have plenty of room to just keep the kids full-time.

Good. JB and Michelle brought this on themselves. They deserve this and much more.

@OHFL2009I wondered about that also. If JB took the 5th to protect himself for not reporting what he knew, then the prosecution could offer him immunity for whatever his crimes were, or he thought they were, and the judge can order him to answer the question. This is assuming that JB had no part in the CSAM.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I am not an attorney nor involved in the profession at all. It is all my speculation.

From what I gather from Emily Baker's latest Josh Duggar Youtube video she basically said that if the defence (& Josh) try to claim that it wasn't him but someone else who is responsible for the charges etc, then it opens the door for the prosecution to bring up the molestation allegations in the police report to point to motive etc as to why they think its Josh and not any others who might work at the car lot. If you look at one of the defence's motions (which they won today), the defence has opened that door.    …

That sounds like the prosecution was threatening to bring up the molestation if Josh just said he didn’t do it. (I mean, other than blaming someone else for downloading the stuff, what other possible way could he argue that he didn’t do it?)  So if that was what they were saying, it was inevitable the defense would “open the door.”

I had understood they had threatened to bring up the molestation only if Josh claimed that he was a good family man with no history of interest in CSA  porn, which would be different.   (I notice the judge said no mention of Ashley Madison or of Josh’s porn confession were allowed unless the defense made claims that were specifically contradicted by what is known about that scandal.)

I guess we won’t know if the prosecution will be allowed to call JB and BD until the 29th, but it sure looks possible.  And I am going to be surprised (amazed, flabbergasted) if Josh still doesn’t take a plea.

At this point, he's avoiding the process servers. I think that puts him in hostile witness territory. He may be forced to testify.

To be completely fair.....is he really actively avoiding the process server or does he just happen to be elsewhere when the process server is around? I vote he is avoiding, but he could easily just be carrying on with his life and has been lucky so far.

The fact that JB was dumb enough to run for office right now.....

It's times like these I almost wish the show was still on so we could see all this "genius" unfold behind the scenes.

He didn't have to go to Branson on a random Thursday. He's running.

I wonder if she’s the family friend who wrote the letter and left it in a book that was found later and used to report the allegations to Oprah’s team. I can’t remember if the name of the friend was discovered back in 2015 (?) when the story came out.

According to WOACB (yes I know about her reputation...I don't like her either).  The person who wrote the letter is Kayleigh Holt.  She supposedly wrote it after one or more of the victims confided in her.  I didn't believe it at first, but now I think it might possibly be just a little bit of truth to this story.  Perhaps it was Jim or Bobye Holt who found the letter and contacted Oprah?  Then again WOACB could be pulled pulling this out of her ass?

Well, he is a major investor in the new freedom museum that's supposed to open up in Branson.

Well, the newest post on the Duggar official FB-page is about an open house fundraiser at the TTH last night, with over 200 people attending. JB can't be that hard to find....

There are lots of photos from the fundraiser. Here's one that I cropped and enlarged. It seems like Anna's mom is there to help out with the M's. (I'm almost sure that the woman is her mother).

And it would make sense that the Kellers are in Arkansas now because the Reber Keller wedding is this weekend, I believe.

If JB thinks he can truly outrun the feds then he is a huge idiot.  They will find him and they will serve come hell or high water.  If JB keeps running they will lock him until it is time for him to testify.  The feds do not find this funny and this is why we have the US Marshalls who are a complete no nonsense group.

During my years of subbing I came across several odd names. One that stands out was a kid who’s first name was Shannen and her middle name was Doherty…So like Shannen Doherty Smith (obviously Smith wasn’t her real last name). I can’t imagine being so obsessed with a celebrity that I would do that to my kid!

At least Shannon Doherty is a real person. Friend of mine named her daughter Devon after a character in a soap opera! Alrighty then!

Speaking of "Beverly Hills 90210", and naming people after celebrities/fictional characters,  a co-worker of my sister's was pregnant in the early 90s at the height of 90210's popularity.  She did not know what she was having, but if it was a boy, it was going to be "Dylan McKay".  The first and middle name would both be in honor of Luke Perry's TV character.  I kid you not.

Thankfully, she had a girl and didn't realize "Dylan" could be gender-neutral.

A friend of mine has 3 kids (2 girls & 1 boy). Her daughters are named Samantha & Ashley. Both named after characters from TV shows. (Bewitched & Fresh prince of bel air). She liked both of the shows & also loved the names.
