So many thoughts ...

1. Is everyone in district 2 guano crazy or is it just the Republicans?

2. In the first ad I think he needed the little fundy wife thing. The only thing missing was the Fundy stare at her husband.

3. The second ad makes sense in his power of no as in there is no way I would vote for you to go to Washington.

4. I would say that he could be friends with Matt Gaetz, Madison Cawthorn, MTG, Lauren Bobert, and Josh Hawley, but I think if you were elected all of them would compete to see who could be the most crazy.

I'm glad the Lincoln project is covering the Ohio senatorial election. It seems like Ohio is trying to join the contest for who has the craziest senator, as Josh Mandel is polling in first place.

Just when you think they can sink no lower, they have to go and prove you wrong. What an utterly appalling ad.

Aren't there any rules that would keep anyone from airing such a violent message? I mean, in America words like "shit"  and "fuck" are bleeped out, because of fragile sensitivities, but these horrific images are no problem? I sincerely don't understand.

The Republican precinct chair of my county, under the assumption that we are Republicans, left some materials with us about the Texas primary. A quick glance revealed that said precinct chair wants Allen West to be our governor and Louie Gohmert to be our attorney general. :crying-yellow:

He also included a copy of the propositions that will appear on Republican primary ballots. His recommendation was to support all of them:

Quote

Keep in mind that this is an opinion poll of Republican voters and not a policy referendum. You are not voting to make a law but merely saying YES you agree or NO you do not agree with the statement.

1.) In light of the federal government’s refusal to defend the southern border, Texas should immediately deploy the National Guard, Texas Military Forces, and necessary state law enforcement to seal the border, enforce immigration laws, and deport illegal aliens.

2.) Texas should eliminate all property taxes within ten (10) years without implementing a state income tax.

3.) Texans should not lose their jobs, nor should students be penalized, for declining a COVID-19 vaccine.

4.) Texas schools should teach students basic knowledge and American exceptionalism and reject Critical Race Theory and other curricula that promote Marxist doctrine and encourage division based on creed, race, or economic status.

5.) Texas should enact a State Constitutional Amendment to defend the sanctity of innocent human life, created in the image of God, from fertilization until natural death.

6.) The Republican-controlled Texas Legislature should end the practice of awarding committee chairmanships to Democrats.

7.) Texas should protect the integrity of our elections by verifying that registered voters are American citizens, restoring felony penalties and enacting civil penalties for vote fraud, and fighting any federal takeover of state elections.

8.) Texas should ban chemical castration, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and genital mutilation surgery on all minor children for sex transition purposes.

9.) Texas parents and guardians should have the right to select schools, whether public or private, for their children, and the funding should follow the student.

10.) Texans affirm that our freedoms come from God and that the government should have no control over the conscience of individuals

Party propositions are used to assess what members believe and are used to guide the future path of the parties. Texas Democrats don't have any propositions on the ballot this year. Here's our list from 2020:

Quote

Proposition #1

Right to Healthcare

Should everyone in Texas have a right to quality healthcare, protected by a universally accessible Medicare-style system that saves rural hospitals, reduces the cost of prescription drugs, and guarantees access to reproductive healthcare?

Proposition #2

Right to a 21st Century Public Education

Should everyone in Texas have the right to high-quality public education from pre-k to 12th grade, and affordable college and career training without the burden of crushing student loan debt?

Proposition #3

Right to Clean Air, Safe Water, and a Responsible Climate Policy

Should everyone in Texas have the right to clean air, safe water, affordable and sustainable alternative energy sources, and a responsible climate policy that recognizes and addresses the climate crisis as a real and serious threat that impacts every aspect of life on this planet?

Proposition #4

Right to Economic Security

Should everyone in Texas have the right to economic security, where all workers have earned paid family and sick leave, training to prepare for future economies, and a living wage that respects their hard work?

Proposition #5

Right to Dignity & Respect

Should everyone in Texas have the right to a life of dignity and respect, free from discrimination and harassment anywhere, including businesses and public facilities, no matter how they identify, the color of their skin, whom they love, socioeconomic status, disability status, housing status, or from where they come?

Proposition #6

Right to Be Free from Violence

Should everyone in Texas have the right to live a life free from violence—gun violence, racial hatred, terrorism, domestic violence, bullying, harassment or sexual assault—so Texans can grow in a safe environment?

Proposition #7

Right to Housing

Should everyone in Texas have the right to affordable and accessible housing and modern utilities (electricity, water, gas, and high-speed internet) free from any form of discrimination?

Proposition #8

Right to Vote

Should every eligible Texan have the right to vote, made easier by automatic voter registration, the option to vote by mail, guaranteed early and mobile voting stations, and a state election holiday — free from corporate campaign influence, foreign and domestic interference, and gerrymandering?

Proposition #9

Right to a Fair Criminal Justice System

Should everyone in Texas have the right to a fair criminal justice system that treats people equally, uses proven methods for de-escalating situations instead of excessive force, and puts an end to the mass and disproportionate incarceration of people of color for minor offenses?

Proposition #10

Immigrant Rights

Should there be a just and fair comprehensive immigration reform solution that includes an earned path to citizenship for law-abiding immigrants and their children, keeps families together, protects DREAMers, and provides workforce solutions for businesses?

Proposition #11

Right to Fair Taxation

Should Texas establish equitable taxation for people at all income levels and for businesses and corporations, large and small, so our state government can fund our educational, social, infrastructure, business, and all government services to improve programs necessary for all Texans to thrive?

Debate between Texas GOP attorney general candidates got heated, even though Paxton wasn't there

Quote

A debate between Republican Texas attorney general candidates turned into an all-out brawl Thursday as Land Commissioner George P. Bush and former Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman attacked each other, and U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert targeted incumbent Ken Paxton, who declined to participate.

Bush and Guzman went after each other’s records and legal qualifications, with both candidates dropping their ceremonial titles and addressing each other by first name throughout the debate. Bush called Guzman a “gutter politician,” while Guzman said Bush was “entitled” and angry that she had jumped into the race.

Gohmert took advantage of Paxton’s absence to hammer the incumbent on an FBI investigation into allegations of bribery and abuse of office and present himself as a conservative alternative without the baggage.

Paxton has held a consistent lead in the polls throughout the campaign but does not appear to have garnered enough support to avoid a runoff. That has set his three challengers, who are all within striking distance of one another, into a frenzy to increase their support.

On Thursday, Paxton was at the Conservative Political Action Committee conference in Orlando.

From an article that Politico did on this race:

Quote

Paxton, meanwhile, has been running a shadow campaign. He’s held fundraisers at Mar-a-Lago, appeared on Fox News, attended rallies with Trump and used his office to announce suits against the Biden administration, convene summits for other attorneys general along the U.S.-Mexico border, investigate GoFundMe for shutting down donations to Canadian truckers protesting vaccine mandates and conduct roundups of sexual predators. He doesn’t, however, appear with other candidates on stage, even declining to attend a Thursday night televised debate.

Re: Bianca Garcia -- so a lot of Texans have failed the test and are going straight to hell.  Is Bianca coping with major cognitive dissonance this morning? Or did she suddenly decide God has other plans for her?

At least we're free from the horrifying specter of Louie Gohmert as the Republican candidate for Texas Lt. Governor. Louie Gohmert did win the vote in Deep East Texas, behind the Pine Curtain.  Louie also represents Sandy, TX: IBLP refugee center and previous home of the Pecan Thiefs and all the little Nuts.

Sadly, that leaves us with the horrifying specter of a 4th term for current criminal Lt. Gov. Ken Paxton, but at least he'll be in a runoff against George P. Bush (son of Jeb, nephew of George W. and grandson of George H. W.). However, when you look at the numbers from the primary, Paxton received about twice as many votes as George P.

George P. has gone full MAGA talking points; before he was conservative but not a wing nut.  He really really REALLY wants to move up in Texas politics.  He's currently the Texas Land Commissioner.  He has a serious resume:  George P Bush

Trump insults his daddy, and George P. smiles and asks which boot Donnie wants him to lick first. :pb_rollseyes:

Is this a new Texas trait? Ted Cruz does the same thing. Trump and salted both his father and his wife and Ted's response is, "thank you sir, may I have another?".

Because Texas, y'all.   Van Taylor, who until about 15 minutes ago had a good chance to win a runoff for Texas' 3rd Congressional District, just ended his re-election campaign. He has a wife and three daughters and is big time FAMILY VALUES but he slipped up and had a months-long affair with a...well, an ISIS bride.  You know that thing where you're just going along with your extremely wholesome life  life and then BOOM! you start an affair with "a former jihadist who was once married to a commander for the Islamic State" and then WHOA, you realize what you did and you pay her $5,000 hush money and then she spills the beans and you get outed by Breitbart!

U.S. Rep. Van Taylor ends reelection campaign after he admits to affair Taylor made the stunning announcement hours after he finished his five-way primary with 49% of the vote. Former Collin County Judge Keith Self, who finished second, is now likely to become the next congressman for the 3rd District.
