Braggie Abbie knew about Blackout Tuesday because she is a bigfollower of Phylicia Masonheimer, who Abbie has shared on Instagram and has, multiple times, recommended her followers to follow Phylicia. Despite this, Braggie preaches to the black community on instagram pic featuring her in a flouncy dress selfie on Blackout Tuesday.

Phylicia Masonheimer  posted stories filled with resources to educate what she calls her "conservative evangelical followers" about racism and addressed them with this:

abbie.PNG

She goes on to say, "...I have never heard that said about porn, never heard that said about human trafficking, never heard that said about porn... and it's easy to just say 'this is a sin problem and the Gospel's the answer' and the Gospel is the answer but if this was said about abortion 'this is just a sin problem and Gospel's the answer' as pro-lifers we'd say "Yeah... and what are we going to do about it?!' "

Phylicia goes on to say, (I give her MAJOR props for this), "Black murder is wrong. Black lives matter and there is a history of discrimination against these people based on their skin color... and what I see is people lumping those speaking about race all into the same pile saying 'This is all liberal, it's political' but that's just not true."

Then, she goes on to educate her followers about what white privilege is and what it means.

Also, here is a big difference between being in the minority and being a minority. Abby might have been in the minority in her team as a white person, but she has never experienced what it's like to be a minority.
White people are never minorities. They might be in the minority, like Abby's parents were in Israel, but they will never be treated like minorities, and that is because they are white.

Check your privilige, Abby, and STFU.

Absolutely. She is so far removed from reality she thinks being the only white kid on a sports team is comparable to systematic oppression. I've had only a taste of it being a woman in tech, but I would never have the audacity to say I have any idea what it's like for black people.

This relates to the “otherness” that Braggie referred to. I’m quoting someone from Facebook:

“It’s been disappointing and disheartening to see [this thread of posts] populated by a bunch of apathetic white people who don’t want to listen to the topics people are trying to raise here, nor take the time to pause, listen and learn. If you’re uncomfortable by people raising these topics, you should be - that’s the point. Black people don’t get the luxury of avoiding these issues. We should be more willing to be open and better understand why these conversations are entering this space. ”

I feel Braggie's absence after her instagram post is very poignant. She follows Phylicia Masonheimer and always recommends people to follow her. On Monday or early Tuesday, Phylicia schooled her "conservative evangelical followers" (she refers to them as that) on white privilege and support for black lives matter in her stories. It's appalling that Braggie Abbie is remaining silent after such a disgusting, self-interested instagram post on Black Out Tuesday. Braggie has resources at her fingertips to educate herself about white privilege, as Phylicia posted many, yet Braggie KNEW her post would be controversial and turned off comments.

Given that Braggie reads here, I'm sharing Brandon's message to his followers about what she labels as discomfort with "otherness" and it's educational. He said it's a problem if you DON'T feel uncomfortable and that being an ally is "messy, complicated, and can get uncomfortable" because we need to take spent time self-reflecting. We need to "push through" those feelings of discomfort to understand ways we have what our black friends deal with everyday.

Instead, Braggie Abbie belittles the mere thought of contemplating such discomfort. I cannot get over the fact that she posted a selfie of herself in a flouncy dress, on Black Out Tuesday, and in my opinion, wrote a condescending, insensitive post to the black community.

Below is Brandon's video. It's going viral and has been watched over 1 million times so far. He's also an actor:
To My White Friends: Guilt, Shame, Embarrassment
My thoughts on why at this time you might be feeling guilty, ashamed, and embarrassed and what to do about it.

One last thing, I like what Reese Witherspoon said about teaching kids about this and she also mentions church. "Don't ignore something because it makes you uncomfortable":

Last night at dinner, my 7-year-old asked why all the grown ups were so upset. We spoke to him about what happened to George Floyd. Being a white mother trying to explain racism and bigotry to her white son, who did not understand why anyone would treat another human being that way, was heartbreaking. But not nearly as heartbreaking as being a victim of one of these senseless, violent, unconscionable crimes. Not nearly as heartbreaking as being one of the families who have experienced loss and harassment and discrimination daily. Not nearly as heartbreaking as being a mother who lives in fear of what will happen to her children in this world.
I grew up going to church. We were taught that we were all the same in the eyes of God. We all breathe the same air. We all bleed the same blood. But that is not what I grew up seeing. It was as hard for me to reconcile the difference between what I was taught in church and what I see in the world. I don’t want that for my kids. Or for yours.
We have to be held accountable for what is happening in this country. What happened to George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery - and countless others - can not go without justice. Please talk to your children about racism, privilege, bigotry and hate. If you aren’t talking to them, someone else is.
Regarding comments: I urge you to share this space for meaningful discussion, not hate. There is enough hate in the world. I hope this can be a space for discussion, understanding, growth and LOVE. We all need more of that.

What I find interesting is that she had the comments turned off on that post. Why? Why not stand behind what you say? There shouldn't have been any problem considering that the post had almost as many likes as her other ones. Abbie wasn't interested in dialogue. All she wanted to do was climb onto her moral high horse and preach to those with "otherness".

Remember when Abbie made a post about a woman with a lot of kids that she randomly met? She made it a point to tell us that the woman was black. There was also the time that Abbie made an entire post about the whiteness of her skin and which kids inherited this level of whiteness and which didn't. Abbie is not as accepting and inclusive as she believes herself to be.

Braggie thinks she’s super opened minded and not the least bit racist. However she also thinks there are haters out there that will misconstrue her amazing thoughts on minorities. So the comments are turned off.

Here's one old blog post of Abbie's from 2016, in which she's oh so much more concerned about police officers being killed than black civilians: http://misformama.net/2016/07/brain-dump.html

Yes, yes, it's a "sin issue." Interesting that our culture is based around the sin but changing the culture is not on the table.

This is the first half of her post. I guess BLM is ungodly? Eye roll. You can bet she’s talking about BLM being LGBTQ+ accepting and affirming.

Poor braggie. Black people being murdered by police ruined her 15th wedding anniversary. She's the real victim here.

Braggie, sit down and STFU.  No one cares about your damn anniversary, you privileged asshat.

And that “research it for yourself” crap annoys me to no end  (“Google it.”—Teri Maxwell); if she feels so strongly about how a national movement isn’t what the rest of us think it is, the she should be providing backup and links for her readers.  She should want her readers to see the same info that led her to her conclusion.

She’s a coward. She won’t come out and say it’s because they are supportive and inclusive to the LGBTQ+ community because she will get a lot of negative comments.

Abbie disgusts me. She wrote a disgusting instagram post in response to criticism of how we've discussed her insensitive black out Tuesday post. Like Lori Alexander, she is incapable of being able to express an ounce of empathy to the black community. She made these posts in response to the criticism we've given her here for preaching to the black community and posting a pic of herself while doing so on black out Tuesday.
Below in spoiler is her picture:

I’ve watched in fascination over the last few days as social media has been instructed to “take a knee.” We have been told who is to speak or not (and for how long), what should be posted, and even which hashtags should or should not be used to better promote certain posts. And then, we have largely complied, and even apologized when told we were doing it wrong. I have even seen people’s efforts to support labeled as “digital protest suppression.” I’ll be honest: if we are just going with the phrase “black lives matter,” I can get behind that all day every day. They do. God has ordained it so by creating them in his image.

But I cannot support the official BLM movement bc it promotes ungodly, unbliblical principles and finances ungodly unbiblical organizations and causes. (I encourage you to research this for yourself). And I cannot support the violence and destruction that has raged under the guise of “justice for George Floyd” (whose death is tragic and despicable). I CAN support the justice meted out to the police officers who both caused and ignored his distress/death. We all can. We all want justice for George Floyd, without one rioter’s ever breaking in a window, setting anything on fire, or shooting a bystander.

Shaun and I spent two days in Dallas for our 15th anniversary, but much of it was spent in our hotel room due to closures as a result of riots or threats of them. As such, I spent hours each day doing exactly I’ve been asked: reading, watching, and listening to the POC point of view. I have checked out links. I have investigated recommended resources and leaders to follow. I’ve also sought info from POC that was not recommended to me by the most prominent voices, trying to find a balance. I have encountered calm voices, angry voices, and everything in between. I have researched data and statistics. I have prayed fervently for wisdom and guidance (for me, for our country). I have learned a lot as a result of all of these hours and even reached some conclusions. I really encourage you to do the same, whether you reach the same conclusions or not. (Cont. in comments)

I will freely admit that two things were on my radar as I researched: in addition to any comments on racism (of course), were these sources willing to a) speak to the reality of the compounded suffering the riots have caused and call for their cessation and b) be consistent—to champion that *all* black lives matter rather than only mentioning those who promote a certain narrative—brave lives like David Dorn’s (77-yr-old retired police chief killed by looters while defending his friend’s pawn shop, which he patrolled voluntarily; there is video of this), Chris Beaty’s (former football star killed by looters as he tried to keep them from purse-snatching outside his home), and David Patrick Underwood’s (an FBI security agent shot in a drive-by while standing guard during violent protests). I have only seen reference to one of them outside of news. (I’ve read a lot, but I haven’t read everything, of course, so if you know of more who are honoring these names, let me know). I’ve seen lots of snarky comments about “white virtue signaling,” but while I think most I have seen doing this (allegedly) are genuinely trying to show solidarity for the black community, I found this verse about virtue in 2 Peter 1:5-8 apt: “Make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Racism is real and evil. That should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway. I am for reconciliation and repentance where needed, but I am also for truth.
I’m sharing some POC voices in my stories that encourage me; they are not the ones I have been told to read, but I figured since those have been seen, I’d share something different.

P.S. I struggled knowing what picture to post and finally decided to go with “random.” Then I saw the pattern, with the white embracing the brown, and I couldn’t help but think it wasn’t random at all.

I watched the video below and cried. No human being, nevertheless a child, should have to feel this way... yet this has been going on for hundreds of years:

She can't even say what everybody else has been saying... My black brothers and sisters, I am here, I am listening, and I will be learning. I am sorry you've been treated this way forever and I haven't known better. I will be listening, there for you, and do better..... no empathy!?

It's pretty interesting for Braggie to post this person's own experience because Braggie is a white woman... I don't feel white Braggie Abbie is qualified to pass this person's experience on, calling them, "beautiful words", especially given that there is the term "victim mentality" in it, which seems to refer to the systemic oppression of black people.

Braggie4.PNG.4fcd70784ecd34868439fd4439872084.PNG

Braggie Abbie missed Phylicia Masonenheimer's video lesson on white privilege and refuses to understand the systemic oppression of black people.

I think I was wrong when I said her advice to black was to just stop worrying about it. I now believe the message she's trying to get across is that all their problems are their fault for "focussing on their otherness" and that everything would be fine if they just stopped "acting black" and prayed to Jesus more.

Does Abbie realize that there's an entire world outside of Instagram? If social media is shaping your world view, it may be time to put your phone down.

Oh my god, someone get this woman a trophy. This isn't revolutionary. Often the "most prominent voices" are jackasses. She wants kudos for making an effort to think for herself without someone having to recommend it to her. Unbelievable.

So she began with a bias and researched for confirmation.

Abbie cares that she was inconvenienced. She cares that it's disrupted her insular life. She cares that people didn't like what she said. She feels uncomfortable and doesn't like what's happening so she does what so many people like her do, retreat behind her idea of god and points her finger at others.

We all get yet another lecture because Abbie couldn't shop.

I have an aunt who loves to seek out and post things like a Black person praising tRump and claim she's just showing there's "more than one side" when it's obvious she's uncomfortable with the dominant narrative. And yes, Black people, just like white people or any other racial or ethnic group, are far from homogeneous in their thoughts about every political issue. Everyone is an individual and should be respected as such. But that's not what my aunt and Braggie are doing, no matter how much they kid themselves.

It’s 2020 and no matter what you believe, you will find someone on the internet to back you up. You will find a medical doctor who thinks ectopic pregnancies don’t kill women and are just an excuse to kill babies (TAM’s soon to be ex) and black people who say white privilege doesn’t exist. Just because someone on the internet says it, doesn’t make it fact. And this is something I’m already teaching my sons. And they are only 5 and 7.
