Mother of girl dragons here. When Cloudlet #2 was in elementary school, she and her friend came up with a lovely game called “so you think you can burp”. And no, they do not come litter box trained.

As a little one, my daughter thought her greatest achievement was being able to burp on command. She still thinks it's great at the age of 36. She's the one who taught her brothers how to do it. She can burp the alphabet in English and Spanish.

I will say she was easier to housebreak than her brothers...but all that shit about girls being "clean and neat"...oh that's a FUCK NO for this one. She's a walking, talking disaster area. She still is not "domestic" (she comes by that honestly), doesn't cook, doesn't give a shit. Only difference is she showered more regularly than her brothers. Good thing she's cute!

All three of mine are "unique" individuals, cursed with many of my personality traits.

Add me to the list of people who really like the name Samuel. It was one of my grandfather's middle name.

My good friend and partner in crime during a very rough fifth grade year also had the name Samuel.

Ok. One of these Duggars have to do something now. Or someone has to start a massive threaddrift. Otherwise I might have to start getting in to the JRod threads for my lunchtime entertainment and judging from everything I’ve read on here that just sounds like a rabbit hole that I’ll never get out of.

I'm hoping to begin the process of legally changing my name too. I've never felt like my first name and opted to go with a shorter simpler Russian variant that has the same initial and my last name will be either my moms name (She didn't change hers upon marriage, turned out to be a good thing my dad is a right asshole) or possibly I will come up with something of my own. I' have decided for certain that my middle name will be my maternal grandmothers.

On the list of names I like I do rather like Florence for a little girl but it's my grandmothers name and she's not exactly the nicest of ladies so I don't think I'll use it for a future baby beans.

Mom of one girl, soon to be mom of one boy, and aunt to two nephews. Can confirm that none of the currently born children in the family came litter box trained or even came with manuals spelling out exactly how to care for them. 6/10 stars. They’re cute and all, but I would not recommend this product to anyone not completely positive they really want or need it. Maybe wait until next year to see if a new model that’s potty trained at birth and comes with instructions is offered.

For those saddened by not hyphenating names, do be aware that a lot of adults with hyphenated names don’t quite appreciate them. My SIL was excited to change her five syllable, hyphenated last name to our relatively uncomplicated one when she married into the family. She warned me that she’d hated having both names, as I was pregnant when she and my brother wed. I wound up giving my kid two middle names, one of which was my last name. Her first name sounded better with my ex’s last name as well. Naming kids is just a complicated process at times.

My brother in law has a hyphenated last name and he hates it. When they were married my sister only took the second half of his last name because that's what he goes by socially and both children only have the second half as their surname even though legally he still has a hyphenated last name. He said it's such a pain in the ass when filling out forms and documents and it's so long. So now he's "Smith-Jones" but the rest of them are just "Jones".

I have an apostrophe in my last name. In terms of forms it can be a PITA as some companies recognize it, while others do not. My niece recently married and she was most excited about the name change and losing that apostrophe.

My daughters, at the time 5 and 7, founded the "Salaga-Pass-Gas" club and made membership cards to give away to our friends. Luckily our friends were as immature as all of us.

My girls have farting contests with my husband.  I joke that there is no way he can say they’re not his.?

They’re loud, messy, care very little about fashion, and I have to constantly remind the older one to wash her hands after she goes to the bathroom.  But they’re also hilarious and fun to be around.

My brother and his wife hyphenated their children's last names.  The oldest child has long-ish first and middle names, plus the hyphenated last name.  All together, it's too long to fit on most forms.  Even with just using an initial for the middle name, his name is long.  He does find it rather a hassle, but doesn't want to hurt either parent's feelings by dropping one of the last names.

Mr Way has a hyphenated last name. He kept his when we got married and added my grandmother’s maiden name that I changed to. Miniway only has that name. Mr Way’s original last name means something in Swedish that is like an invitation for bullies. Both names are short though so I don’t think he sees it as much of a hassle.

I got lucky in the name department I would say. I do always have to spell it but first and last name combined are only 11 letters. Most Eastern European last names are just 11 letters long. I have cousins that have cut their last names in half. I have other cousins that have changed a few letters because the translations are just weird in English. Pet peeve is when people Americanize my first name even tho my first name is super simple. There's a popular English version but I hate it. One of my moms friends always does it. I've been correcting her for 30 years ?

My daughter and her BFF are also champion burpers and farters and still find hilarious when they’re together. Her bff’s dad still seems to wander around mildly shocked that his sweet girl isn’t any kind of princess and is instead just as gross as boys are. ?

The girls were once playing around in the bathroom at night and laughing loudly. I went in to check on them and nearly gagged. It smelled like two skunks had gone to war ? they, on the other hand, could NOT stop laughing.

Girls can be gross too!

I've been staying away from the Lori threads for the same reason.

And yes, Dating Divas are the “take turns spitting skittles into each other’s mouths” people. Check out their website if you’ve ever wondered how people “spice things up” when they’re not allowed to have actual kinks.

Years ago my best friend was dating this football player who was a real nice guy. The three of us would always hang out together (we were all in HS). Joe was a loud burper but I told him I knew someone who could burp louder than him. Enter my 9 year old cousin Claudine. Add two bottles of pop and she won.

I'm getting married in the next year and my fiancé and I are trying to figure out what to do with our last names.  I love my (very long) last name and don't want give it up.  My fiancé prefers that we have the same last name once we get married, though I don't care if we do.  I think our current plan is hyphenating our last names, but that would make our last name 21 letters long (plus the hyphen).

I just can't with Jill promoting sexy games, something about it creeps me out even though I love sex.   Maybe I am a prude and I don't realize it.

It’s because Jill, despite her age and the fact she is married and a mother of two, feels like a girl that’s not ready for sex yet. And also because the games are so lame that the second hand embarrasment is huge.

On the other hand I can’t imagine any of her sisters being this open about sex so I think it’s good. Too embarrasing for me to watch though. I am the queen of second hand embarrasment. :my_blush:

The book has twelve games “one for each month or the year.” This is the most vanilla sex book ever. Only 12 options? I mean put at minimum 30 in there and give people a decent chunk of choices.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
