Dillards 75: Keep the Food Out of the Bathroom

Yeah if any kind of bee gets in my house it dies. I've always been terrified of them even though I was never stung until about 2-3 years ago. My dog stuck his nose in a bumble bee's next and pissed it off (and yes it was a bumble bee- the cute fuzzy kind). The dog and I both got stung several times.The stings were painful and itchy for at least a week. I couldn't concentrate at work or even sleep unless I had an ice pack on the area to numb it. We have an electric fly swatter and it is the best thing ever.

I don't kill bees or wasps that come into the house. Bees, because they are good pollinators and I feel like they aren't aggressive. Wasps, because I'm really scared of getting stung and I worry that if I don't do a good job when I'm trying to kill it, I'm just going to have a really pissed off wasp in my house. I usually try to leave the back door open for a bit and perhaps give it a bot of encouragement to leave.

I don't generally kill the bugs in the house. I made a deal with the spiders - as long as they don't sit next to me on the couch - I will let them stay. 
I did try to kill the wasp - but then the damn thing came back to life and I quickly escorted him outside. GAH I hate those things. And at sometimes of the year - they're dumb and slow and nosey. 

My cats do take care of some of the bugs in the house though - and that's just nature so... I let it go.

But I will kill any ant that so much as looks at my house sideways. 
I'd kill the crickets too - if I wasn't terrified of them.

Wasps are the worst.

I like honey bees and am especially fond of fat bumble bees.  They don't bother anyone and I like to see them buzzing around the lavender or honeysuckle plants in the summer time.  But wasps - cannot see that they serve any good purpose and they are just mean!  I think the fires in my area in 2017 may have dealt a blow to both the bee and wasp population, as I have seen very few of either so far this year.  My sister is the real gardener in the household and she has put in mostly native plants and bee and butterfly friendly plants as well.  I've seen one or two bees buzzing around, but so far I think I saw only one wasp and it seemed a little slow and loopy.  Thankfully, I'm not allergic but if a wasp comes in the house or a wasp nest forms in the eaves, we get rid of it.

ETA:  I was wrong about bumble bees/honey bees not bothering anyone - because I wasn't thinking that some people are deadly allergic to bee stings.  So disregard the first part of my 2nd sentence above.

@Meggo, I may have found something that works on ants, at least the teeny ones.  A couple of weeks ago I noticed some sugar ants marching around my bathtub.  I got a Terro ant bait tray to put in one corner of the tub, out of reach of the dogs and the spray from the shower, but I also got the spray bottle of Oxy laundry spray out of the laundry room to spray on the ants to drown them.   The ants dispatched, I had my shower. The next day, there were ants at the other end of the tub, but they seemed to be staying away from the end where I'd sprayed the day before.  I got the Oxy again and sprayed the ants.  After my shower, I sprayed the tile and the tub and let it dry.  Haven't had another problem with those tiny ants.  Maybe it is the ant bait that is working, but spraying the tub with Oxy doesn't seem to hurt,  

(NB:  Autocorrect always wants to correct Oxy to Oxytocin.)

I ended up calling in a bug guy. Because everything I tried- failed. His stuff is safe for pets (2 cats and a dog) and the Shortstack who was probably 3 the first time I used him.

I’ve had this theory for a long time (since the scandals broke actually) but I’ve never expressed it to anyone before. For some reason I got to thinking about Jill and Derick and felt sad, that reminded me to write this up and see what others thought.

For those of you who don’t already know this the Duggars et al follow IBLP which holds the “umbrella of protection” belief. Because of this belief they don’t believe in working for someone else because they might be ungodly or the wrong kind of Christian etc.

Derick previously worked as an accountant at Wal-Mart, but he left the job in June 2015.

I think that JB was never thrilled with either Derick or Josh accepting jobs and working for others b/c of the umbrella BS. However, when the first scandal broke JB blamed Derick (and probably Josh) for putting the whole family outside of the umbrella of protection and thus causing the scandal to break. I think that JB then forced to some degree Derick to quit his job. I think he called his friend at SOS to get them on a mission, which is why it seemed so last minute, and they didn’t learn the language before hand etc.

If you look at pictures of them before the scandal on their blog (it starts in April 2015) they look happy and normal. However, by July 2015 Derick is starting to look rough.

Can you imagine being new to the family and having this whole scandal blamed on you? It’s no wonder stuff went downhill so quickly for them, and why they don’t seem to have much to do with JB.

I would be curious to hear any other thoughts.

I think that DD actually quit WM before the scandal broke. I also think neither he nor Ben knew about the molestations before they wed. A new baby, no job, a needy wife and fresh knowledge of your wife being molested by her brother would make most men look rough. DD was also recovering from surgery himself.

As far as I remember, Derick didn’t leave Walmart until after the scandal broke. That said, video evidence from promos of the unaired season show what appears to be the Dills making some sort of announcement to the Duggar family shortly after Izzy’s birth. There’s been a good amount of speculation that they were actually announcing their mission plans there, but I don’t think we ever got confirmation about that. 

I do think it’s possible they sped their initial plans up a bit, though (again) I can’t know that for sure. I think it all seemed very rushed though and I think it’s plausible that they viewed it as a good way to escape what was happening.

She also never irons anything before she has Israel take these photos. I don't get her. You're getting paid to advertise this stuff. Take five minutes to iron it before you put it on, and either wear sunglasses or don't face into the sun. It's not brain surgery. ?‍♀️

What I think is sad is that Jill couldn’t get a sibling to take the pics. Can’t she just bring all the clothes over to the TTH and have a brother or sister take the pics instead of taking a selfie where you can barely see the clothes? Or maybe on a day she is spending with James? Or how about Derick taking the pics when he is home?

jill just seems so isolated. It seems to pretty much just be her and the kids for the most part.

She doesn't even have enough sense to go to a different location other than her yard to do these. I'm sure there's a better looking park around, though I still think it's pathetic she has to force her child into taking these photos. Citrus and Lemon should just move on (and move on to a different name while they're at it..)

I wonder if their name amd line is "inspired" by For Love and Lemons.  Many of the Citrus and Lemon products have a similar floral, unstructured, Coachella-attendee look.

As for pictures facing the sun, I think they must be trying to get the best lighting for the scene but don't realize there's a balance between have good light on your outfit and sun in your eyes. Take pictures on a bright day but not looking right at the sun. I'm surprised the photographer's shadow isn't in all the shots.

Yup. Sunglasses and an iron would make a huge difference in that dress pic. I'm generally not a loose floral dress person, but I like the way the wrap top on this one drapes. Also, these seem like a very practical style for women who are frequently pregnant.
