the townhouse I use to won didn't have a basement. One evening we had my husband, my son, me and our cat crammed in a powder room. We have a basement now! With chairs!

I wish I could zap these folks into the future. I would show my family member who married a man and had 2 kids.The husband  had a lucrative career in the 80s but his company closed up shop locally and moved to the Bible Belt, he refused to relocate ,and at the same time, the industry he was in declined in CA ( he was a nuclear engineer). This man never worked again, by choice. Fast forward to the last major recession, the son of this couple was downsized, and has pretty much never worked again, by choice. In the mean time, divorce, illnesses, drug addiction have  all plagued this family. Kids need to see their parents role modeling decent behaviors, including a work ethic, in order to acquire those skills.
