Hubby and I are doing Whole 30 right now - no alcohol, no dairy, no grains, no added sugar. While I'm definitely eating higher fat than I'm used to, we did it as a reset to help with all the snacking following the holidays. You aren't supposed to weigh yourself except at the end but hubs and I both lost 2.5 lbs the first week? A lot of that was probably water weight/relief of post-holiday bloating, but I'm excited to see what happens this month. And then go back to my dark chocolate, popcorn, and sugary (but half-sweet!!) lattes. In moderation of course. Gluten makes me bloat but it's so obnoxious to be that millennial white girl being gf without an allergy so in social situations I usually just suck it up. Also pizza. But cutting back on grains and sugar going forward is definitely good for me.

Speaking of anxiety, I just saw a new doctor and she literally (not basically, but word for word) told me to just run every day. I already run 3-4x/week, with strength or yoga 1x-2x, I rarely drink, am not overweight, etc. and she told me I needed to run 7 days a week and then my anxiety would go away!!!!! And then she told me I "had to take care of myself and not let my hormones control me." Bitch what do you think I'm doing at the doctor???? But she "doesn't prescribe meds for stuff like that." And then I burst into tears. At least she referred me to someone else?

I’m so sorry you had to deal with that! What a quack! I’m definitely glad you’re going to someone else.

It sounds like the only good thing she did was referring you to someone else. I'm sorry you had "that" doctor. It's hard enough trying to get help for yourself without the person who is supposed to be helping you brushing you off. I hope the next person you talk to is a better doctor/therapist/specialist/counselor/human being. :my_heart:

I remember in the process of being diagnosed for one of my chronic diseases, the GP sent me to a psychiatrist to make sure I wasn't a hypochondriac or so he said.  The psychiatrist asked me why I kept crying and I said it's a combination of being in constant moderate to severe pain and frustration from no one taking it seriously enough to do anything about it.  He kind of laughed and said two excellent reasons to be in tears or near to it.  He had a few more questions and then said one of these two doctors should be in touch with you in a couple of days.  If not, call me back.  I found out he chewed out both the GP and the neurologist for wasting his time and leaving a patient suffering needlessly.  Within a couple of weeks I had a diagnosis and medication.  Sometimes we find the right one even when it's by someone else's mistake.

Joy is posting about some weight loss plan. Only $14 a day which is $420 a month just for one person. Seems a little high to me. I could get many pounds of lean meat, fresh fruits and veggie, for under that

Joy said she’s no longer breastfeeding Gideon in one of the comments on her latest post.

also, unrelated but I’m annoyed with her missuse of the apostrophe in the sentence #pluralnotpossessive

Gideon is almost 1, right?

Even if she was 3 months pregnant now, that's a minimum of 18 months between births. I'm guessing considering she's promoting weight loss and health coaching she's probably not though.

It kind of reminds me of Jessa between Spurgeon and Henry. She seemed a lot more vocal about eating healthily aftershe gained weight during her first pregnancy.

While I'm happy to see Joy is caring about her health and appears to be giving her body a good break between pregnancies, I just wish it wasn't some weird health coaching ministry thing.

Also I'm laughing about her giving her email out. You just know Becky and Pickles will be emailing her pretending to be interested, just to talk to a real life Duggar. I can't wait to see their crazy posts later.

We talked about it back before Christmas. Her upline, Jessica Ballinger, is Joy’s sister-in-law, Meagan (Forsyth) Ballinger’s mother-in-law.

Over $400 a month to feed one person doesn’t sound like a sustainable meal plan in a Quiverfull family down the line.

I was thinking more along the lines of people signing her up for Planned Parenthood emails, ACLU, Women's rights, etc Did not even consider the stalker duo lol.

Like 400 dollars a month for a diet program is going to be accessible for the majority of her followers. I hate how these schemes prey on people's vulnerabilities and suck them in with amazing promises. The reality is that you don't need to spend $400/month to lose weight. You just need to eat less, and moving more will also help. MyFitnessPal is free.

I have an Instagram account just for following fundies, and I swear to God they were all on there shilling their diets, boxes, etc. last night. So holy, so modest, so Jesus-like!

This is from Keeping Up With Fundies. They really did not learn a f**king thing at their SOTDRT, did they?? If an anorexic person asks you for weight loss tips, you DO NOT answer "awesome! let me suggest you this product!"

I'm actually disgusted by Joy's ignorance and stupidity.

I hope Joy is healthy. I hope she visits a MD for check ups from time to time and follows through on advice given. Has she always been so pale? She just looks really tired to me.

Excuse my French, but what a fucking dumbass.

Double high five for the person who politely called her out in response though. They the real MVP.

Well, most people are tired I guess, LOL. So, a better marketing strategy for someone trying to shill a product that is suppose to make you get healthier or to your goal weight, might be to actually present what you’re trying to shill. Like the time I went to my obviously overweight MD who gave me the diet and exercise talk. To me, Joy doesn’t present as the picture of health in these videos.

It was surprising to me that Joy said she got back to her pre-pregnancy weight within a week of starting the program... she gained a good amount of weight with Gideon so that seems odd....

She likely lost a lot of the weight before she started the program. She’s young and Gideon is almost a year old. I don’t think she started this until the Fall, and GMF was born in February.

Not to totally defend Joy, but aside from her SOTDRT she is also 21, I have a 21 year old stuff like this wouldn't really click in his head either to make him say Oh I should probably just take a pass on this comment or not.  Remember just because WE think something is common knowledge doesn't actually mean it is.  I actually did email her and was very nice and sucked up a bit and said she had a big responsibility and an influencer, that next time someone posts something about an eating disorder and is this good, just have them check with their doctor, since you don't know what this person's health is, any diet program could be dangerous.  I give some of these kids the benefit of the doubt in that they just don't know not to do something until someone tells them.

I wonder if she didn't start the program until she stopped breastfeeding Gideon. Some women hang onto post-partum weight until they stop breastfeeding and then they are finally able to lose those extra pounds.
