I am thrilled to interrupt the latest round of “WHY IS PREGNANCY BODY SPECULATION A THING?!” with this riveting Instagram post by Joy:

This is a far more interesting thing to discuss than her uterus. I know I shouldn’t be shocked but I still somehow am.

That baby’s demeanor is pure joy (no pun intended). I pray his parents miraculously realize they don’t need to beat that out of him.

I could not agree more and wrote something similar on the C Bates thread.

We do this to every fundie woman. Yes I know their lives are dedicated to producing arrows for Jeebus, but someone having a slightly non-flat stomach doesn’t mean they’re preggo. I don’t have a flat stomach. Am I preggo? Nope. And there’s no way I could possibly be, given that I still possess my v card.

I don't necessarily think the people who do this are doing it to deliberately body shame, but that's what it is.

Anything less than so thin that you can't possibly be pregnant* and wearing something form fitting enough to prove it means a woman is fair game to have her body publicly assessed and discussed like she's a prize sheep at a county fair.

It's cruel and adds to the mindset that there is a perfect default and to fall short of that in any way means the public has the right to wonder why.

*for a significant length of time.

You're right. I might have spent too much time in the Maxwell's threads where everyone speculates about Melanie and Anna Marie being pregnant all the time and thought it was a fair and innocent question... I don't really keep up too much with FJ and the fundie world anymore as I am quite busy. It wasn't body shaming AT ALL, just asking and catching up.

Move along with the discussion please. Thanks

Dayuum Joy is really rockin'  those glasses.  She looks great wearing them.  Little Gideon is really adorable.   Fundies do make incredibility  gorgeous children.   Hope Little Giddy grows up  happy  and free of Gothard  & the influences of creepy Michael & Debi Pearl.

You don't get to decide who discusses what. You are welcome to change the topic if you want, but please don't tell other posters how to post.

Gideon’s smile! ?

And I know it’s said all the time, but that kid is definitely 100% Forsyth.

Fundies (and all humans) make adorable babies. I’m partial to Gideon myself. Then they raise brainwashed young adults who make arbitrary choices at the polls based on bullshit. The photos just cancel each other out this time.

He IS super cute. I kind of want to pinch those adorable cheeks.

Edit: here's to hoping his parents can't fucking hit that adorableness.

I hope so, but Joy is pretty adorable and it didn't stop blanket training at the old TTH.

Maybe when JB and J'Chelle felt they need to weaponize themselves against their kids they should have realized they were over their skis and ...stopped having them.

You know...birth control instead of plumbing line.

And Joy's sending a big fat "fuck you" to everyone who didn't vote #republican with that oh-so-carefully-placed middle finger...

A lot of babies look alike to me (I'm normally terrible at seeing what other people see when they talk about a baby looking like one parent or another), but he does look just like Austin, and I can't say I've really seen any babies in real life* that look like him before!

*specified because to me he does look a lot like Tommy from Rugrats!

Wait there are proposals to be bridesmaids?

Oh ffs,  no, do not let this become a trend. What next? (Don't tell me, I don't want to know).

My husband's niece did a written "proposal" to my kids, then 4 and 6 years old, to be in her wedding. (They carried a sign that said, "Here Comes The Bride" right before she came in.) The proposal included photos of the clothes they would wear and of the sign they would carry. It was like a mini Pinterest board.

At first, it seemed a little unnecessary to me, but the pictures were handy for when we talked about the wedding in between the proposal and the wedding day. She also didn't get down on one knee when she "proposed", or do anything completely over-the-top. I can't speak to anyone else's wedding party proposals.

I came here to point out that Joy is giving us all the finger but @SapphireSlytherin already pointed that out.

But I also wanted to say that I have just spent a lot of time choosing new glasses and I wish the ones I choose looked as good on me as does one looks on Joy.

Being pretty far left of the Democrats the Republicans seems like Handmaid’s tale politicans to me. But it’s no surprise they’re voting that way.

I can totally see it. Hilarious. He is really cute and that smile is unbelievable.

My own baby is looking a bit like Brain from Pinky and Brain right now (as we are filling up on cheeks and working on that second and tripple chin) and I am loving it. This squishy grumpy-old-man face gives me life. It is not looking pretty but super adorable. Especially when she is super unimpressed by us (my daughter for sure).

As much as I hate who they vote for, I wish every other group in the Western world managed to get their young people as engaged to vote as the fundies do. Voter apathy in that age group is huge and then people wonder why candidates like Trump get in - by having people willing to vote (usually older, but also groups like this who do, regardless of anything else, push their kids to vote).

Here in the UK, we're at 40% of young people who believe neither of our current options would make a good Prime Minister. Wish I had as much faith and self-confidence in something as they seem to have in the Republican Party, but then I'm also not a one or two issue voter.

I realize the boy twins are best buds and all, but why do they always seem to be together?  I'm starting to wonder if this is strange.

Joy looks happier than I've noticed her being in a while in that picture and giddy is super cute. He is starting to grow in me, originally that name made me cringe almost as much as spurgeon.

Well then I guess I have this to say:

Hey Joy! Your kid is cute, but not as cute as mine the same age. I adore your glasses so I will give that one. Oh but hey here is a good one for you: ? you and your vote. I am still registered in AR and at minimum I can know I voted (early too, overseas is fun) and I cancel at least one of you. #democrat #actuallysocialistbutcloseenoughfornow

In all seriousness, I agree with @victoriasponge. It is stunning how they manage to get their young people out to vote, but I would assume they see it as *gag* "winning" AR is red and has been since Clinton left (how he was Governor I am still trying to figure out, those were the days). I supposed if you are always on the "winning team" you have less apathy, you think your vote counts, you aren't getting told you "wasted a vote" on 3rd party, and on and on. I see a lot of that being tossed around among my blue-er AR friends on FB. I am even having the hardest time trying to make sure my sister is taking it seriously to get register since this will be her first election, she is already apathetic.

In Carlin’s story she said that it was her first time meeting Gideon which means they haven’t seen each other in a while. And it’s Joy’s birthday in a few days so she probably though it would be a good time to visit

Plus there's also the wedding relatively soon so she could be planning to have tagged on a visit prior and go with the Duggars and then join up with what will likely be at least a good number of the rest of her family coming that way for the wedding.

All the focus on convincing people to vote is strange to me. In Australia voting is compulsory,  if you don’t vote you get a fine. It’s about $20 for a first “offence” and increases with each time you fail to vote. The fines are capped at about $150. I admit it’s contradictory to FORCE people to participate in a democratic process...honestly most young people love to vote because all the schools where we vote run bake sales and sausage sizzles and as Election Day is always a Saturday it’s a great place to buy hangover food.
