Trump 12: Nevertheless, She Persisted (Let's do the same!)

I was thinking back to the how the 2008 economic meltdown destroyed the economic lives of so many people.  My fear is that Trump, a blundering idiot, may very well cause another economic meltdown and this article clearly shows the domino effect of not thinking things through.  Dismantling Dodd-Frank is just the beginning of the inevitable slide to disaster.

This also gets me thinking about how not having intelligent people with experience in the right positions can lead to total disaster.   Just looking at Trump's picks who have zero experience in their cabinet positions  (Ben Carson, anyone?) and well, picking ideologues for all of his White House staff.

If another catastrophically contagious crisis happens and should it be linked to Trump's policies, the US would lose a good number of allies. We're still reeling in the wake of 2008 crisis, no need for another one.

In case you didn't know, he's a lying liar that lies. He's also a dumbfuck who doesn't realize the internet is forever:

... journalist Thomas Roberts, pointed out that the rapport between Barack Obama and Mr Putin was tense. He then asked if Mr Trump had any sort of relationship - “a conversational relationship” - with the Russian leader.

“I do have a relationship, and I can tell you that he’s very interested in what we're doing here today, Mr Trump said. “He’s probably very interested in what you and I am saying today, and I’m sure he's going to be seeing it in some form.”

He added: “But I do have relationship with him and I think it’s very interesting to see what is happening. Look, he has done a very brilliant job, in terms of the what he represents and who he is representing.”

The video over his statments is embedded in the article.

Well now you just gone too far; I love me a good chilled wedge salad on a hot summer day! How dare you associate it with the Asshole in Chief. Besides, I seriously doubt Old "Make America Eat Fried Food Again" would ever eat a salad, no matter how retro it was.

But he totally is a Ferengi!

I have some very distressing news for you. Trump not only enjoys wedge salads, he has them on the menu Trump Tower and Grift-a-Lago:

Quote

Trump and his entourage could have left the dining room, with little fanfare, to handle one of the first international crises facing his presidency. Interrupting dinner comes with the territory. But there were wedge salads with blue cheese to be eaten, and Trump, apparently, doesn’t abandon an iceberg lettuce salad just because there is a national security matter at hand. Especially when the salad is named after him. And, impossibly, there was something in the room he loves even more than Mr. Trump’s Wedge Salad: an audience.

We've talked quite a bit about Branch Trumpvidians. This is an interesting article about them: "Trump supporters see a successful president — and are frustrated with critics who don’t"

I am just sitting here, shaking my head. It's amazing that these people watch the same crap, yet perceive it so differently. It's like the whole "is the dress blue and black or is it white and gold" debate, with an added element of a possibility of the world being destroyed. I read the other night that some people on Tinder have put, "if you are a Trump supporter, swipe left", which I can understand. I don't know that I could enter a new relationship with someone whose views were so radically different than my own. This makes me sad, because in the past, I dated plenty of guys who were way, way, way more conservative than I am, but we could agree to disagree or have a middle ground. There is no middle ground with Agent Orange.

Well the Branch Trumpvidians can kiss my ass.  I'm so goddamn sick of these people.  I'm to the point I'm blocking out these people from my life.  They have nothing to say that I have the slightest interest in hearing.

A great article for Presidents' Day: "Five things Donald Trump could learn from Abraham Lincoln". I won't quote the whole article, but the five things are:

Lesson 1: Grow a thick skin

Lesson 2: Engage your critics strategically

Lesson 3: Be informed and ask questions

Lesson 4: Adapt, change and grow

Lesson 5: Use words carefully

Of course, Agent Orange won't do any of the above.

On another note, John Oliver was fabulous last night. The piece on Russia was very informative. Too bad that Drumpf will never see it.

Hell, even George W. Bush did some of the above.  He was a dry drunk SOB and war criminal who came within inches of sending our economy down the shitter, but he has a lot thicker of a skin than Agent Orange.

I would also add a Lesson 6 - your position exists to serve American people, not the other way around.  I know Lincoln would have been teabagged right out of the GOP years ago if he was still alive, but from what I could tell with Lincoln it wasn't so much about himself as it was about doing right by the country.   Agent Orange, on the other hand, it's all about himself.  There could be a mega fire that swallows a 1/3 of the country whole and that fuck face would still be more worried about his vacations and enriching him self and his buddies.

Just realized that it's technically Monday here.  Presidents Day.  Is it just for honoring Washington and Lincoln, or is Trump included?

How many of his sycophants will be able to see him as responsible for his failed promises?  Some yes, but the die hard alt-right fuck wads, will listen to him.  He will spin and spin it to put the blame on the NY Times and the ebil Democrats.

The next time, and there will be a next time, there is a natural disaster I shudder to think about his reaction.  Will he send in FEMA money?  Will he blame an earthquake or tornado on the scary brown people?  He will spew forth feigned concern if the people affected are white.  Not so much if they are of color.  I know this sounds harsh, but that is how I feel. He can spin it to blame all the "inner-city" residents in Chicago on the hurricane in Florida.  Heaven forbid we have another Katrina.  We all remember Bush 2's lack of response.  Agent Orange's?  He will say it is just a lie put forth by the media.  There was no hurricane.  Speaking of hurricanes. ..... I'd love to see his place in Florida take a direct hit.  Nobody else hurt, just this property.  Of course he would make out like a bandit he is on the insurance and stiff the employees.

Speaking of die hard alt-right fuck wads:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/milo-yiannopoulos-latest-news-paedophilia-breitbart-video-child-abuse-right-wing-sexual-relationship-a7589656.html

Quote

At one point [Milo Yiannopoulos] refers to the possibility of relationships between 13-year-olds and 25- or 28-years-olds, claiming “these things do happen, perfectly consensually”.

He claims there is an “arbitrary and oppressive” idea of consent, and that “people are messy and complex, and in the homosexual world particularly, some of those relationships between younger boys and older men, the coming of age relationships,” are places in which “those older men help those young boys to discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable rock where they can’t speak to their parents.”

He is interrupted by one of the presenters, who said: “This sounds like priest molestation to me.”

Mr Yiannopoulos replies: “And do you know what? I’m, grateful to Father Michael, I wouldn’t give nearly as good head if it wasn’t for him.”

This is nauseating, and just makes me want to :puke-front:

And these are the people your president consorts with and takes advice from...

Adding to say that Jake Tapper is also disgusted by CPAC's invitation of this asswipe to speak at their annual meeting:

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/320345-tapper-blasts-cpac-for-inviting-milo-to-speak

Quote

In a series of tweets Sunday night, Tapper slammed the invite after a video surfaced of the Breitbart editor appearing to defend pedophilia.

Tapper said he initially wanted to avoid discussing the revelation, but was urged to speak out by an unnamed friend, who Tapper said is a victim of sexual abuse.

So the party of Christian family values has invited an advocate of paedophilia, Milo Yiannopoulos, to speak at the Conservative Christian Action Conference? Well, as far as I know, Paedophilia ain't Christian, ain't Conservative - and they need some action AGAINST this!

For God's sake, those eejits who read Breitbart should at least look at the published views of the man who is now running it - he is contrary to everything they say they espouse - a gay who advocates paedophilia  - hey, but he's probably anti abortion and pro gun.....so that's all right then! :wtsf:

ETA In ancient Greece, relationships between adolescent and adult males were considered normal - it was called ephebophilia - but the usual age of the younger partner was 15-18.

A FB friend just sent this to me.

I'd rather have Beavis and Butthead in charge then these two asswipes we've got now.

I see the Tangerine Man Baby is whining about fake news again...

http://www.kwwl.com/story/34546998/2017/02/20/president-trump-tweets-today-about-fake-news-with-sweden-immigration

Quote

The president tweeted Monday that: "The FAKE NEWS media is trying to say that large scale immigration in Sweden is working out just beautifully. NOT!"

People in Sweden have been scratching their heads since Trump suggested during a rally Friday that some sort of incident had occurred in their country.

Trump tweeted Sunday he was referring to something he saw on television.

The president might be referring to a segment aired Friday night on the Fox News Channel show "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that reported Sweden had accepted more than 160,000 asylum-seekers last year but that only 500 of the migrants had found jobs in Sweden. The report went on to say that a surge in violence had followed.

A very interesting article in Mother Jones on Swedish crime rates, and in particular, on why rape statistics seem high. This last is partly because Sweden has redefined rape, to include what would be sexual assault or even sexual harassment in many other countries.

http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2017/02/we-should-practice-truth-statistics-even-when-it-hurts

I keep seeing memes saying 70% of  rapists in Sweden are immigrants . This article goes a long way to explaining  this is basically misinformation.

The statistics might also be affected by the size of the population - Sweeden only has 10 million people living in it.

It kind of reminded me of how the Vatican has the highest crime rate in Europe;

http://www.news.com.au/travel/world-travel/europe/14-odd-facts-about-vatican-city/news-story/6d6f5d0652461955f7c849a101f60785

Quote

8. With 1.5 crimes per citizen, Vatican City is said to have the highest crime rate in the world.

But before you cancel your trip, it’s important to note that the majority of crime that occurs here is petty theft. Given the large tourist crowds, Vatican City is a pickpocket and purse-snatcher’s paradise. Some argue the rate is high because it does not have a long-term prison.

That’s not to say there are no major crimes. In 2007, the Vatican had its first drug-related crime, after a Holy See employee was found in possession of cocaine. And in 1998, a newly appointed commander of the Pope’s Swiss Guard and his wife were murdered in their apartment.

I never had any problems when I was there but just like the rest of Italy I made sure to keep a close watch on all my stuff while I was there, and who was around me too.

And the article I linked is fucking great! It's a HP opinion piece. Here's an excerpt:

Quote

He’s like a Jabberwocky terrorist. His ability to drown out reason with a steady, pernicious flow of babble and blather effectively demoralizes everyone within earshot. He brandishes nonsense like a flamethrower, basically deluging his listeners with an unstoppable barrage of disconcerting and creepy, cryptic crap. It’s why an impressive assemblage of hard-bitten, savvy reporters looked as though they needed a blankie, a ba-ba and a jumbo-sized bottle of Excedrin by the time he was through.

Just wanted to add this to the CPAC discussion:

Quote

Trump, who has become a regular at the event in recent years, is not the only high-level Republican who remains slated to speak at the event since the controversial tape surfaced over the weekend. Vice President Mike Pence, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, along with top White House aides Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus, are all scheduled to speak at the event.

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-cpac-milo-yiannopoulos-tape-235204

Edited to add:

CPAC has changed its mind about Milo.

I think Tangerine Toddler is my favourite name for the present eejit in the WH!

The things that astound me at the moment -

1. How much is being spent on Presidential security. What with Mar-a Lago, Melania in NY, and the Trump brats jetsetting, he has almost 30% of Obama's 8 year spending in one month. This is the man who said he would be in the WH working, and not taking vacations or playing golf.... where are you, Faux News, when we need you to call this out as you did with Obama?

2. The commercialisation of the Presidency. I want some transparency here - is tRump charging the Secret Service for their rooms at Mar-a Lago? And what about doubling membership rates - is this pay for play? Not to mention the rally at Melbourne - who paid the Secret Service and AF1 bills for a campaign rally? I seem to remember that Obama paid for his campaigning, both for himself and Hillary.

3. The tRump hotel in Washington - as President he is landlord, as Donald he is tenant. Who does not believe that lobbyists who patronize his establishment will have a leg up? For F***s sake, he MUST divorce himself from his business endeavours - yet he has made no attempt to do so.

The corruption is out there and in your face - but his base would rather talk about 40 year old allegations re Bill Clinton. Reality has gone, and we are living behind the Wizard's curtain.

Please any deity you care to name that the reputable press keep trying to keep track of this train wreck - hopefully then Reps and Senators will realise that 60% of voters are appalled, and start pushing back.

Warning - Milo's reasoning on pedophilia icks me out, and may do the same to you.

******

It appears Milo Y. is trying to reframe his comments to be more socially acceptable (NOT!).  Now he says that he considers the definition of pedophiles to be those interested in pre-pubescent kids, not those interested in kids who have developed, but still under the age of consent.

Yes, it appears he is reasoning along the same lines of our old favorite pedophilic pimp, Vaughn Ohlman.

I'm sure Trump is trying to get all the evidence destroyed. The problem for him is that there is too much evidence out there. I've spent the weekend reading up on everything i can about the Trump-Russia connections, and he's connected to it in so many different ways, and there are so many different people involved that there's no way he can destroy all the evidence.

Not to mention, all the major news outlets are busy investigating right now. They're closing in on him.

Re Faux News: you don't get to be a commentator on any channel without a measure of intelligence. I'm pretty sure there are some fairly appalled/scared people at that network now. No one expected this degree of idiocy. I expect more criticism, and more calling out of the most ridiculous pronouncements, from Faux in the next months.

I'm betting Megyn Kelly, Greta Van Susteren, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck are glad they got out when they did.
