Are You Raising Communists?

The video has an earnest man claiming that as a young graduate student he spied on a communist meeting. During that meeting he heard the leaders claim that they were going to infiltrate Amerca by encouraging feminism, cohabitation instead of marriage, homosexuality and environmentalism. These just happen to be the issues that frighten a lot of Christian

This is serious stuff, as I have said many times before, this all points back to the family. Every one of the communist goals listed in this video have been reached, but don't blame the communists, they could not have done it on their own. It is the parents who have neglected to raise their children, by enrolling them in schools and church programs instead of teaching, training and raising them themselves! You heard the man and I myself have seen it, Communism has infiltrated many churches.

According to wikipedia, the book The Naked Communist is enjoying a resurgence in popularity because of Glenn Beck

The Naked Communist is a book written in 1958 by conservative United States author and faith-based political theorist Cleon Skousen.[1]

The book posits and seeks to describe a geopolitical strategy by which the Marxist-Leninist Soviet Union was attempting to overcome and control all the governments of the world that were not members of the Communist bloc. At the time that the book was published, during the Cold War, fear of communism was common among people in non-communist nations.

In 1960, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints president David O. McKay recommended that all members of his church read The Naked Communist.[2]

The list of communist goals contained in the book was read into the Congressional Record by U.S. Congressman Albert S. Herlong, Jr. of Florida, on January 10, 1963.[3]

Here is the wikipedia article on the author. Interestingly, an FBI memo claimed that Skousen was pushing anticommunism for financial reasons

Well, living right next to Russia we practically are communists ;) (we also have polarbears roaming in our streets and we speak with German accent...) I have never understood this communist/socialist fear some/most Americans have. I am a very happy socialist, I have a free education (according to PISA one of the best in the world), healthcare and such and I am willing to pay for that by taxes and very willing to see that everyone else has it too.

I just hope these guys would educate themselves with differences between socialism and communism...

I noticed that lots of religious wingnuts say that us left-wing people are encouraging feminism, cohabitation instead of marriage, homosexuality and environmentalism ... if I rely on my own education, replace the word encouraging by teaching to accept. I guess I was raised a communist: I learned very early what a homosexual was (my mom's best friend is her gay hairstylist), my mom encouraged me to stay in school and have a career (although I didn't listen), most of my parents' friends were cohabitating and those who eventually got married did so when their kids were already of school age, and I was taught to respect the environment. However, no liberals I know would say anything if their children were heterosexual, decided to save their virginity for marriage, daughter chose to be a SAHM instead of having a career, etc. People and families come in all shapes and forms. Saying that socialists discriminate against traditional families is BS.

I'll be really upset if my son doesn't grow up to be an environmentalist, though. Especially given the pitiful, human-unfriendly environment we're leaving to him.

Unfortunately he's a budding little capitalist, complete with trying to make sneaky barters with his classmates ("my peanut butter cup for your Bey Blade")

OMG OMG that is hysterically funny. I agree with experienced, as a communist for 12 years now and veteran of many a commie meeting, that's not even remotely how we roll.

Granted, I am not now and have never been a CPUSA member. Different sides of the aisle, but same church ;) However there is so much bollocks in his account I don't know where to start.

For a start, to get into a closed meeting you need to have people vouching for you. Not in a creepy sense. Like you wouldn't have randoms sitting in on your meetings at work, people don't wander in and sit down unless they actually want to be there and someone knows them. Which is true for all political parties.

This sounds like an open meeting, if it happened at all. IOW he didn't infiltrate or spy, he just wandered along. I also never heard any of the bullshit he talks ever expressed at any meeting. The CPUSA is not my party and I have a number of disagreements with them but the idea they only discovered feminism in 1991 is frankly insane.

It would take numerous posts to discuss the "split" he's on about but discussions about Party splits are not open meetings. Mainly because it would bore the tits off any normal human being.

TL;DR....it never happened.

The 1950s are calling. They want their scare word back. I don't think anyone outside of teabaggers and people who are enough to have lived through the Red Scare actually think that communism is some scary, evil thing.

Actually, Charlie thinks he's on the crew of the USS Enterprise. He wants to boldly go where no man has gone before.

Environmentalist? Really?!?! In which communist nation is there a groundswell support for environmental policies? And which communist country supported gay rights? I really want to know that one. My parents grew up in a commie nation and the gov't locked gays in psych wards (per standard policy of most nations at that time....). Yes, it's strange that communists stand for all things that a right wing religious nut opposes. I'm just surprised he hadn't added that they also push for radical Islamic agenda....you know, the round out the trifecta of gays, atheism and islam......

That is the accusation we get over here.

Even if you are against Communism as an economic/governmental structure, the radical goals of the party were mainly stuff-that-needed-to-happen. Marx gets a bad name, but he was right about most things. The execution of Communism sucked ass, and I am not sure if that economic system simply lends itself to totalitarianism or if it was that place/time.

I am teaching my children to share, not to take advantages that they have not earned (that is, don't cheat or steal), and that all people have certain rights. I want them to work hard and achieve, but to do so in a way that is mindful of others. I want them to be comfortable but also to give generously and even to the point of discomfort when necessary. To some people, that would make me a Communist. But I think the communists on this board would disagree. I believe that a modified system that has elements of capitalism and socialism is probably the best plan. The truth lies between the extremes (and also between the first and the fortieth drink).

According to young man who runs Future Fathers, feminism leads to communism.

You might as well start reading Marx to your daughters as a bedtime story. :snooty:

I've been to Russia. Before then, I did an extensive study on everyday life in the former Soviet Union. Also, I can remember when Eastern Europe was still Communist. I don't think a lot of younger people really understand how evil that system was. If you don't believe me, read the works of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Evgenia Ginzburg, or Varlam Shalamov's "Kolyma Tales."

When I went to Russia, I visited recently and beautifully restored churches that had been converted into swimming pools and potato storage warehouses during the commie era. So yes, what the fundies say about state suppression of religion is true. The state also controlled all forms of art. Anything that did not glorify Dear Leader or depict a happy worker's paradise was banned.

That being said, the fundies' view of Communism is totally warped. Feminism? Equality between men and women may have been part of their official ideology and a lot of women held traditionally masculine jobs (such as working on railroads and construction crews), but this was mainly because after WW2 that there weren't enough men left to do these jobs. Women held virtually no positions of power in government. Issues such as sexual harrassment, sexual abuse, and domestic violence were neither addressed nor discussed. Homosexuality was considered a crime. Depending on whether you were gay or lesbian, you were either imprisoned or sent to a mental hospital. And environmentalism? Russia and other former Eastern Bloc countries were still using leaded gasoline ten years after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
