Scientology's We Stand Tall music video that features DM.

My boyfriend and I had this song stuck in our heads for days after watching Going Clear.

The irony of 3 ft tall DM, singing "we stand tall" ... I can't. :giggle:

My niece who's been on pyschotropic drugs due to her manic/panic disorders, and a couple of other things, took the train up to Hollywood with a friend just to be tourists. They were invited in and then told of all the horrible things pyschiatrists do and how they ruin lives. My niece heard this s*&t and turned to the robot telling her these things and said,  "If I didn't take my meds, I'd be dead. They have saved my life not ruined it." The $cilon escorted them out.

When you go in they make you sign in with your name and profession. Of course, I used a fake name and occupation. I didn't want them to be able to contact me and I certainly didn't know that I was an evil mental health provider!

They then put you in a small room where you watch a propaganda video about how psychology and psychiatry is responsible for killing people. They literally say this multiple times. They blame psychiatry for the Holocaust and 9-11. It's fucked up, but fascinating.

Episode 1 popped up on my DVR.  Amazing and powerful; very touching.  So interesting that the end of Leah Remini as a Scientologist hinged on only two words: Where's Shelley?

I wish it was all on demand NOW!

I was reading In Touch on the checkout line at Target today (it was a blessedly long line with lots of overstuffed carts so I could read and not buy). Apparently Leah Remini has a lot more dirt on Tom, that will gradually be revealed over time. Also, rumor has it Nicole will be coming out with her own book and several bombshells are expected to be dropped.

I'm not sure how reliable a source In Touch is, but I would love to read a book of Nicole Kidmans about her time in and out of scientology. I've always felt that that poor woman was shafted by Cruise and Scientology in many ways - and to lose her two children is heartbreaking. However, I really think she was forced into signing an ironclad non-disclosure contract or have her own secrets revealed. Maybe someday though.

I watched a rerun of episode two tonight, and afterwards, there was a short (15min) segment on Leah showing the exec producer all her books and lectures and stuff.  She claims she spent millions of dollars buying all that, and that the average person must spend quarter of a million dollars, minimum.  My question is, many of the people in scientology don't seem to be making lots of money. Especially those sea org people, who I understand get paid pennies on the hour. How can they afford all the auditing and books and stuff?

I think the SO people get auditing and such as part of their billion year contract. Those who leave are presented with a "freeloader bill," which is allegedly to cover that sort of thing.

I'm going to guess: credit card debt.

Wow! That is so horrible but I really didn't know what else to expect! haha  As if these members really wanted all that auditing and crap in the first place, to get billed for it later.

It really is such a scam. Leah was saying you could pass level 1, go all the way up to five or whatever, but then they find something "wrong" with your level one class so you have to go back down and pay for it all again.

I read a funny Reddit story (consider the source) about a young man who took all these classes and they billed the parents. At first they ignored it but later received very threatening legal type letters so they paid it because they didn't want to deal with the nonsense.

When NBC had that news magazine show Rock Center, there were several episodes about Scientology. The show profiled a family that left COS and the parents had been on staff, they got hit with various course and auditing bills.

Yes, the Sea Org people billion year contract people don't have to pay for courses.  If they try to leave they are presented with a freeloader bill for courses, board and lodging, and so on.  Regular parishioners are encouraged to run up credit, take out loans, mortgage their houses, and so on.  Many go bankrupt.

I don't know why the Sea Org people don't just tell Co$ to go fuck themselves.  Those free loaders "debts" probably wouldn't stand up in a court of law today.  See, Debbie Cook.

@Palimpsest where did you read that Tommy Davis was back in the nuthouse? Last I heard he was working with this wife (Can't remember her name, she was Katie's handler) in a business (real estate? investments?)

Tony Ortega is usually pretty reliable.  He claims Tommy Davis is still a practicing Co$ member, by his own admission.

I received a freeloader bill ($38,000) at my address for the prior owner about 12 years ago (I live in Clearwater).  I knew exactly what it was, and thought I should warn her.  I found her on the net (she moved across the country to get away), messaged her, and asked if she wanted it forwarded, or trashed?  She said to trash it.

At least in that one case she knew it was crap.

Debbie Cook had to sign some sort of confidentiality agreement to get her "debt" settled though, didn't she?  I really REALLY wish she'd go public (ala Leah's show).

Yes, but she was able to get her side of the story out when Co$ made the mistake of taking her to court.   http://www.villagevoice.com/news/how-debbie-cook-exposed-scientology-and-got-away-scot-free-6712877

You live in Clearwater?  Are the Scientologists still infesting the environment?  Some people have said that it is a sucky place to live and that half the mental health professionals there are just Co$ members there lying in wait.

I missed last night's episode and will have to catch up.  Did anyone else watch it?

I am so happy Katie Holmes got out though and seems to be doing well.

Yes, it sucks, and yes, it's occupied heavily.  90% of my neighbors, and 100% of my condo board.  At the grocery store if you speak of the cult with anyone 'not in' it has to be done in whispers, and can't get a newspaper within 2 miles if there's anything negative about the "church".  I've got 15 years of stories...  :pb_rollseyes:

It's not just mental health professionals.  If you live here you have to check out every professional you hire for everything.  I've been in medical doctors offices where there was scientology literature on full display in the waiting room.  It's on full display at the local Chinese take-out!

The whole city is not sucky, but my area definitely is.  I'm close to two barracks and not very far from Super Power & Ft. Harrison.  I loved the second episode where Leah was perplexed that her Clw driver was not a Scientologist.  I wanted to yell at the TV "Some of us were born here, and have been here long before 'they' invaded!"
I'm looking to get out though as soon as family circumstances allow.  This is no way to live.  And speaking of Debbie Cook...  I have to drive past Hacienda Gardens (where she was held prisoner) almost every day and I get a sick feeling every time, like I'm somehow complicit just by being so close.

I've got last night's episode on DVR, and haven't watched yet.

I didn't intend on this being so long.  But the whole thing makes me rage.

@Tim-Tom Biblethumper, thanks for the information and don't worry about the post being long.  That is awful and no wonder you want to get out of Clearwater.  They have taken over the whole place!

I was just thinking that it has been ages since I saw a Scientologist in the flesh.  There are definitely fewer of them around up here.  They do have a single church in the state but I can't remember noticing any proselytizers around, even on college campuses, recently.  Probably I don't look like a good raw meat prospect any more but their numbers do seem to be dwindling a lot.

And that's the best news!  I must say, even when I'm at ground zero (downtown), they aren't walking down the street five-abreast like when I first moved to this area.  It's down to two-abreast. ;)
